I’ve been bugged by that as well. If I follow the timeline, it’s been well over a year, maybe close to two. Gasoline would be getting stale for sure. But…they have still been using other vehicles in the show, the governor drove up to the prison with, what, 8 or 10 vehicles?
Good point.
Poetic license. It was cooler for Rick to stumble along rather than bleed on automobile upholstery.

Well, the cars with working batteries and usable gas were at the prison, which wasn’t a safe place to car shop. The getaway vehicles that could leave, did. I wouldn’t expect any other cars along the way to work, nor Carl how to hotwire and drive them. Can Carl drive?
It was a nice little episode. Not much more than filler, but still better than the overblown stupidity of the previous eps.
Not if his Mother taught him.
Well, of course he can drive a caaaaaaaaaaaar.
I beg your pardon? ![]()
As Rick would say it. He doesn’t say Carl, he says Caaaaaaaarl.
Regarding the vehicles:
How long does it take a standard automotive tire to dry rot from disuse? Not sure if the Georgia weather would be a contributing factor.
That’s another point in the show that doesn’t make no damned sense - there are clothes EVERYFREAKINGWHERE! Why are you wearing gross, dirty rags? Why are you spending time washing clothes?
One of my first foraging runs would have been picking up all the bikes, tires, air pumps, tire patch kits, etc. I could find. I’d make a special effort to find some wagons that attach to bicycles.
Heck, I’d’a hit a Jeep dealership and taken all the diesel vehicles, preferably all of the same or similar models to simplify maintenance.
Ah. ![]()
He should be saying “Cawl”, but the actor is British.
Wait, what? I didn’t catch that. When and how did that happen? Or are you speculating?
I wondered that too. If I was stuck in that prison one of the first things I’d do is teach Carl how to drive. It could save lives.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I think it can be inferred, since she spoke of the two “pets” very contemptuously back when she was first introduced and Andrea (?) asked if they were important to her when they were alive. I think she said something like they got what they deserved.
I just went back and watched the end and it looks like Michonne is standing next to a white BRICK wall after peeping in the window, when the house is clearly clapboard when Carl emerges to lure off the knocking zombies.
It will be amusing when this Great Mystery is cleared up in first video of the next program.
In a SDMB thread it was said that in the comic, boy friend or friend went zombie, zombified the other, and they ate the child.
While I have no way of knowing one way or the other, it wouldn’t surprise me if the next episode depicted the activities of characters other than Rick, Carl and Michone. We might not necessarily ever see those three back at that particular location again.
Some interview, somewhere at some time on the web said they will concentrate on individual characters as they get it back together after fleeing the prison.
YMMV ![]()
Who’s British?
Andrew Lincoln who plays Rick.
