I rewatched the scene. It’s the crowd of walkers on the other side of the pile of rubble in the tunnel. It was a spine with no meat on it. There was nothing that would allow it to stand upright. Immediately after that shot, the camera angle changes to show the group of walkers and it’s gone. Apparently even the fx guys couldn’t get it to stand up.
Some people, even smart people, latch onto anything that gives them hope. Our mustachioed soldier latches on to the idea not only out of hope but because having a mission gives him a purpose in this new world. Hot Pants Garcia follows our mustachioed friend because she loves him. Is she a believer like mustache man? I think the only reason she’s tagging along is because she loves mustache man. But, yes, I can buy that desperate people might allow themselves to be suckered by Dr. Mullet’s promise of a cure. Hell, just look at some of the crazy stuff people believe in our own world and we don’t even have reanimated corpses that want to eat your skin.
That’s how I felt about Michonne when she first appeared. But since they’ve actually given her a personality this season it hasn’t bothered me as much.
It depends on where the sun is in the sky, how wooded the area is, and how familiar I am with the location. If the sun is high enough in the sky and I’m turned around I might not realize which way is east or west until the sun moves far enough for me to tell. People have and continue to get lost and I don’t think they’re all stupid.
Exactly! These characters are absurd and comically “comic book”. TWD could have easily introduced a soldier on a mission to escort a scientist to DC who has vital information to potentially saving the rest of humanity. Think of one of Dr. Jenner’s peers working in another lab somewhere in the US. Eventually he/hist lab lost communication with the other labs as they fell to zombies, suicide, despair. Like Dr. Jenner, he kept plugging away and in the end made a key discovery. He doesn’t know for sure, but he realizes that if any functioning form of civilization/government exists it is in DC and wants to get there to share what he has learned. THAT is a very interesting character and the plot/story can incorporate elements that question whether the individual is really a scientist and has a discovery, or is manipulating people to get their help to stay alive one more day, or is flat-out delusional and really believes it. A serious treatment would leave the in-world characters unsure if he was for real and leave us the viewer unsure if he was for real.
TWD television show instead chooses to insult us and create this comic book set of characters.
An excellent idea, but apparently not “cool” enough.
I can’t believe Beth was carried off into the night and we’ve heard not WORD ONE. Why no shot of her tied up and gagged, so we could worry a little bit? Nope. Radio silence. And wouldn’t Daryl at least poke around looking for her a little bit — or would that be completely foolish? Because he doesn’t even go up to a couple nearby houses just to check. You’d think he would just check. Go on, check, Daryl! She could be just up the road.
Beth I hear you callin’ but I can’t come home right now…
Me and the boys will be claimin’
aaaaaaaallllll night…
Hilarious! (Even though I do hate the song…)
Just a few more hours
And I’ll be right home you.
I think I hear them snarlin’
Oh Beth what can I do?
Hah! Sometimes what we don’t see is scarier than what we do. They’ve got you seeing her tied up and gagged already.
Maybe she’s on someone’s deck sipping mimosas and smoking cigarettes.
We saw her. She’s on the grill about to be served up to her sister for lunch!
Glenn clearly think’s Eugene’s full of shit, but it’s in his best interests not to press it. It’s unlikely anything Glenn says or does will sway Abraham & Rosita, but it would make Eugene see him as a threat.
How long would the GPS satellite network last under these conditions, anyway? Seems to me anyone with a working vehicle could get and operate a GPS device quite casually, so what’s with maps and stuff?

Mustachio soldier had a conversation with Tara which demonstrated to me that he’s a pretty observant guy. He doesn’t seem stupid to me at all.

You’re right. He’s hella intuitive about other people. So why does he follow video game geek boy around? Is it meta? He knows pimply-faced boy is full of shit and knows we know that he knows that we know that he knows that we know…
What does it mean, “ain’t nothing sadder than an outdoor cat that thinks it’s an indoor cat.”
Um, there’s nothing better than an outdoor cat than voluntarily becomes an indoor cat. There’s nothing sadder than an indoor cat who will meow claw shit and piss its way out the back door because it thinks it’s an outdoor cat. They usually end up squished under a car tire, but sometimes it’s live fast die young, for humans and pets.
Ooh, and while I’m rewatching the ep, Hot Chick is fully clothed in leather. She’s not in hot chick clothing all the time.
Something along the lines of a real man acting like a pussy. (No pun intended.) Sot of like Samson voluntarily cutting off his own hair.
…I wasn’t insulted at all. I love these three new characters. The programme is so relentlessly grim a bit of heart is need to get people like me to come back to watching the show. I didn’t watch any of the first part of Season 4: but I’m back for the second half. I’m sorry you don’t like the characters: but at this stage a bit of “comic book” was just what the series needed.

From what I’ve seen in online predictions this isn’t too far off.
Tara is a hot mess. How that dipshit survived this long is beyond me.
Also, wouldn’t the bullets ricochet off the sides of the tunnel? How did Maggie et al manage to spray everything with gunfire and not hit Glenn and Tara?
Why didn’t Glen just walk up and around the tunnel to be safe? Who cares if it takes an extra day? Holy shit, I wouldn’t go into a pitch dark tunnel on the best of days, let alone during a zombie apocalypse.
Accuracy would start to noticeably drift within a few days. With no one to generate and upload new almanacs, receivers would not be able to calculate a solution within a couple of weeks.
I had a friend in Mensa who believes in the efficacy of homeopathic medicine, Reiki energy healing, and that vaccines are harmful to children. Mayim Bialik has a PhD in neuroscience and supports some anti-vaccine initiatives and homeopathy. Now if smart people can believe this kind of baloney when the world is doing relatively well what happens when everything goes to hell in a hand basket and they become desperate?
What do we know about Abraham? He is mission oriented and he likes to fight. Following Dr. Mullet gives Abraham a mission and something to fight for.
Tara spent the better part of the zombie apocalypse holed up in an apartment with her sister, father, and niece until One Eyed Bri stopped by and changed their life forever. Heck, they didn’t even know to shoot the ghouls in the head to stop them until the Governor told them. She recently lost her father, sister, niece, and her new girlfriend. Glen even tells her that he understands how she feels because he felt the same way when it all happened. Plus she feels guilty about what happened at the prison. Yes, she’s a hot mess and I expect most of us would be.
I wondered that as well. I suppose when faced with eminent death via human teeth I’ll go ahead and risk a ricochet or a poorly aimed shot but it does seem a miracle.
That seemed impulsive and stupid on Glen’s part given that the number of zombies in the tunnels was unknown and Tara had a limp. It looks like he wanted to make sure she wasn’t one of the zombies in there though.
