New enemies disregard rules and morals; although Rick wants to find a peaceful agreement, the enemies seem to prefer a more violent resolution.

Mid-season finale tonight. Robert Kirkman and Keegan-Michael Key are on Talking Dead along with a “mystery cast member”.
Discussion of the comics is allowed, but spoilers from the comics should be boxed. Anything on Talking Dead or the previews is fair game.
I am not one of those people who says this all the time, but I pretty much called Beth’s death about 15 minutes before it happened.
I told my wife, “My crazy wild prediction is that Carol makes it back, but Beth dies in some kind of flaw with the ‘deal’.”
I wasn’t quite right, but I was right that Beth bit it. In fact, the clue for me was when they told Maggie that Beth was still alive. I was picturing in my mind Maggie being happy that Beth is alive and that the show’s writers were setting us up to see Maggie super destroyed by Beth’s death.
Turns out that was spot on, as we got the exact follow up scene right after Beth’s death.
I liked the episode, but it seems they telegraphed the death well in advance.
I think they did it with the title “Coda” a musical notation about the end. Who is the only one associated with music? Beth. You are right, as soon as Michonne told Maggie Beth was alive, I said to my friend, “not for long and certainly not by the time you get there.”
Because Maggie has not seemed to care about her sister since last year’s mid-season finale, I had a hard time connecting with her grief. I did feel bad for Daryl. This was Sophia all over again. I was annoyed that when they got her back, Rick didn’t hug her, just that weak head kiss.
What I would really like to know is what Keegan Michael Key said that was censored on Talking Dead when he was talking about how he cried when Beth died.
on talking dead there was a comment by a fan wearing an animal on his head, asking why rick doesn’t ever mention being at the cdc and what he learned there.
all i could say was “finally!!!”
they were laughing so hard about the animal that no one spoke to the comment.
seriously, when they met up with eugene i don’t know why they didn’t mention it.
ah, well, it was a fairly good episode.
i do like the way they are teasing morgan’s journey.
Did anyone else notice that Rick’s pre-execution monologue to Officer Bob echoed Gareth’s speech to Barbecue Bob–specifically the "you can’t go back, Bob " remark?
That was my interpretation too. I was laughing from their reaction at first and had to rewind to try to lip-read or pick up any clue, but the best one was Chris’s comment about having a cry-gasm essentially.
I figured Beth was in for it as soon as Maggie was told news she was found alive, but it was her stashing the scissors in her cast that clinched her death for me. Chekhov’s Scissors?
Once Daryl started balling, I was shocked I got a little teared-up myself, as I didn’t think I was all that invested in her fate. But even more so when Emily was crying about leaving the cast on Talking Dead.
I mostly liked this episode, but that was in spite of a few bits of Walking Dead Stupid Shit TM.
Tops among these was Rick agreeing to a prisoner swap being done that far into the “enemy’s” base. An enclosed, confined space that you’re unfamiliar with? Where the other person has enough leverage to just change the terms of the deal and you’re vulnerable to that? Stupid!
Also, from a plotting point of view, I feel a bit cheated. We endured some dud episodes that felt like just moving the pieces into place, and for what? Five minutes of a dumb prisoner swap set up just for the purpose of killing off a known character. Feels a little more like an obligation to have a major development at the mid-season break than a really well thought out piece of writing.
That bothered me too. One think I did like is how nobody (well other than Noah) took Rick up on his offer. Given the alternative life at the hospital is pretty sweet, and it appears that the worst guards are gone now. Then again that could all go to shit under a weaker leader than Dawn.
