I felt like Beth would never actually make it out of there and I agree it was telegraphed, especially with Maggie being told she was alive. I managed to avoid any spoilers about a main character dying. I figure everyone is in jeopardy all the time, still didn’t make it any less shocking when it actually happened.
Can anyone spoil me about all the Morgan talk? I feel like the way I’ve been watching the show (not on AMC) means that I am missing out on something. Are they showing more after the credits or what?
Yup, me too. When Daryl started to cry, I *did *cry. Damn. And I teared up when Emily cried on TD. Of course, it also struck me that she looks about 15…
I had thought that Noah would be the one who was killed in the episode, but I guess we aren’t as invested in his character and it would make less of a mid-season finale splash.
Yes. After the credits, they showed Morgan arriving at the church. He placed some talismans on the altar, prayed a bit, inexplicably laughed, and finally noticed the map with Abraham’s note to Rick on it. Why he’s been searching for the X-men was left unexplained.
Yes, they do show an “upcoming scene” after the credits. That’s where Morgan came in.
(At least, I think it’s after the credits and not on TD…things run together.)
Yep. They showed Morgan following the circled Xs the Terminus guys had marked in the trees while tracking down Rick’s group. Tonight it showed him stopping at the school (I think), then finally finding the last marked tree with the horizontal slash in it at the church.
It was empty, he went inside, erecting a small, metal crucifix, then placed some personal items in a row on the alter (one was a bullet, another a blue rabbit’s foot), then laughed to himself, rose and looked down finding that map to DC, with the apologetic words telling Rick to catch up with them when they leave the church.
Thanks for the info everyone.
Sorry to see Beth gone. She had actually become an interesting and more complex character this season. I’d rather have seen her stick around instead of someone like, say, Abraham.
The whole hospital arc was odd, from a storytelling standpoint. There were some interesting possibilities there with the doctor, and Dawn, and Noah . It definitely showed Beth’s growth. But the back-story (who are all these people? what are their motivations?) and internal turmoil (Dawn was always talking about power struggles within the group, but we weren’t really shown any of that) were very poorly developed.
And based on the earlier episodes this season, I expected Maggie to go, “Beth? Beth Who? Sister? Oh, yeah! :smack:”
Typical of the terribly uneven writing on this show.
And kill Judith off, already.
Mmmmm…Goo-Goo clusters!
Ding Dong, the witch is dead!
Why the Judith hate?
An infant in this story will only really serve one purpose–an easy/cheap way to create drama by putting her in danger. The writers have shown remarkable restraint by only using this 2 or 3 times so far this season. Most of the time I forget she’s even there, and so do the writers. About 95% of the time she’s on screen, “Judith” is a doll wrapped in a blanket so we can’t actually see her, with crying added in editing. Did you see the way she was bouncing around on Michonne’s back as they escaped from the walkers in the church? It didn’t look realistic in the least, and took me right out of the story.
He said he started cumming. He was trying to say he started having a cry-gasm, which he clarified, but that’s also a stupid thing to say.
Same here, but then I promptly forgot. When Maggie learns Beth is still alive, the way that scene went down I immediately thought “Oh crap, Beth is gonna die now.”
Then about five seconds into the next scene I had forgotten all about that, so when Beth’s head splattered all over the ceiling I let out a stunned “Oh, shit!”
I really liked Beth a lot, and am pretty bummed. I think the episode was really well done – particularly the bad-ass Rick running down and shooting that cop – but I felt super guilty checking the “Loved it” box in the poll. I did NOT love poor Beth dying.
I didn’t see Beth’s death coming, but I called Bob the Cop correctly. I had assumed Noah would be the one.
Also disappointed the chickenshit preacher survived this long.
What got to me was when MIchonne decided to hack open the door blockade to let the priest in… and about 2 dozen Walkers. Christ on a rotting corpse, what a dumb-ass thing to do!!
Ah, very good point about the CDC!
So does anyone know why Beth essentially committed suicide-by-cop? I get that being in there might’ve altered her thinking a bit and formed some sort of abstract connection to Dawn and her philosophy, but plunging the scissors into her shoulder was obviously a direct path to the grave.
Was she suicidal at this point? Why? I know she had feigned ideations earlier at Hershel’s farm, but she was about to be reunited with her group. Both sides were clearly cooperating. Was it because she laid claim on Noah? Was Beth’s mind so warped that she abandoned the feelings of what is now basically her family? (Quite literally in Maggie’s case!)
Her action literally endangered her entire group, not just herself. A firefight was very nearly about to break out thereafter.
I just couldn’t wrap my head around the decision. Open to opinions.
I hate that useless fool, and I wish that he had died screaming while the zombies tore him apart. I wasn’t happy at all about Beth dying, but I figured they were going to kill either her or Carol off in this episode.
I guess Dawn demanding Noah broke something important inside Beth’s head, where she felt she needed to tell Dawn off then jab her with the world’s tiniest pair of scissors in her upper-boob.
Just a big Meh. Like Sophia I never cared about Beth as much as the show wanted me to. Maggie breaking down was completely unearned since she hardly mentioned her before this.
Also not a fan of the after credits stuff. Only caught the scene on accident because I kept my TV on.
Yeh, how long will they keep this Morgan-After-Credits story up? Another episode? Another season? Another few seasons? Always getting closer and closer to the gang, but never quite reaching them, until the final scene in the final episode where we just see his head in the background and him about to call out to them, “Hey, gu–” CUT TO BLACK.
Asymptotic Morgan?
