Don’t make it sound like I’m an apologist for the shitty writing in this series. I have plenty of my own complaints about it! I was merely correcting the confusion over the scenario of leaving. These statements are incorrect:
1- “Mom and kids could have stayed in that house.”
2- “They don’t need to be taking a mouthy brat through a crowd of walkers…”
As it played out, they actually couldn’t stay in that house, which then made it necessary to take the mouthy (actually PTSD and likely early-abused) kid through a crowd of walkers. Or kill him outright, I guess.
There are plenty of better plot devices available to creative and engaged writers, and the kid surely isn’t a very sympathetic character. The scene fails for me in multiple ways. But it did follow in a straightforward manner from its set-up.
Apologies for making you sound like an apologist. I’m still not sure it played out with that exact necessity. I’m not entirely sure who the kid was (that’s how good the writing is…) - was he one of the dead arsehole surgeon’s offspring? Maybe not so much of a brat then. But yeah, shoot him. I just rewatched the ep where Carol kills the weird kid. ‘Just look at the flowers’. It’s a harsh new world…
Thanks! I was confused too, but I’m pretty sure the AFU kid that’s going to get somebody we know better killed is sibling to the older one that tried to do away with Corl and triggered the emergency in (from) the house. I don’t object to shooting either or both out of hand. But then, that’s my feeling about probably 90% of the characters anyway.
No, Rick had broken the latch on the garage door when he hear Corl and the other kid fighting. The people in the house tried blocking the door with a sofa, but the walkers pushed through and everyone had to retreat upstairs. They had a temporary barricade on the stairs, but it wasn’t going to hold for long.
I had to laugh at that monologing villain when he started talking about change in between the seats.
It was supposed to be diabolical, but came across as petty and pathetic.
Let’s face it, I don’t see Negan as much more villainous than the Governor.
As to their escape? They’ll do it on their own.
Abe will pull fire the RPG to one side, Sasha will take out the other side, and Darryl will drive through.
Yes, the lead biker dude’s monolog seemed to be more of a soliloquy. I think the character likes to hear himself talk. It was way too long considering the time constraints of a TV show. Maybe it will only appear in the preview???
The Governor was a pretty bad assed dude. Complete psycho, but he was clever and charming when the situation required. And the writers allowed the Governor to kill off Andrea.
I have no idea which Negan will make an appearance. Cool and calculating? Loud, bloody, and savage? Daryl is sacred but Sasha and Abe are not.
