The Walking Dead; 8.16 "Wrath" (open spoilers)

Rick took a couple of shots at Neegan, one of which went through one of the panes of glass. I assume he palmed the shard when Neegan put him on the ground

And there is absolutely no chance he is either going to escape or get sprung, so Rick’s plan is foolproof!

Yes, there was a humongous herd of walkers off in the distance.

Doctor magic, of course!

When Rick shot at at Negan earlier, he missed him and hit one of the windows, shattering off a piece of glass. Rick has perfect aim, except when he is shooting at Negan. When he’s shooting at Negan, he never hits him.

It was entertaining but ultimately stupid. I was really hoping to see Maggie and Rosita takin’ turns with Lucille, smashing Negan’s skull to a bloody pulp.

What could go wrong?

Something Freudian there…

This is exactly what I’ve been saying to my wife. You can cast bullets, tumble and resize brass, and run a multiple station reloading press pretty efficiently. But making primers is fairly tricky. They are not like the old-fashioned percussion cups (little copper or brass cups with a dash of primer). Though it’s theoretically possible, I’ve never known any reloader to make his/her own primers.

Back to the episode itself. We’re damn tired of Negan the Omniscient, Negan the Invincible, Negan the Resilient, etc. The absolutely most depressing thing we’ve seen on any series in the last year or so is the fact that Negan survives and will be imprisoned, presumably freed by sympathetic followers in the next season, and back again for another set of outrageously boring episodes. For God’s sake, kill him off and move on! The Governor was ten times more interesting and complex.

Ah, that’s it! I think I get it now - way back when, Rick was sitting under a tree bleeding, just like he was in the season finale. Boy, that sure was arty!

Oh and let’s not forget that the whole “We give up. We’re done” crap that all the vicious little neo-Negans were spouting was only after their weapons blew up in their faces leaving them unarmed. They weren’t surrendering in any real sense more than Rick was in that episode where he and Morgan woke in chains. See the real symbolism was that tree with the windows was the tree of liberty. It drew them to it so it’s roots could be watered with the blood of tyrants, a whole big gang of them called the Saviors, but then…stupid happened.

And speaking of stupid. I’m no fan of Negan, but he’s not stupid enough to only test fire this truck load of ammo once…out of the gun handed to you by your slave bullet maker…who you kidnapped from your enemy’s camp…and who acts more squirrelly than a bunch of crazy-talking cultists in a garbage dump. Nobody’s that stupid.

Negan should have bled out and died, but Rick says ‘save him’ and they put a bandage on his neck and he will live to see another day? Bull.sheet.

What on earth is Rick MADE of, he’s constantly kicked, shot, wounded, and the next episode he’s up being his energetic self?

Negan came slinking back to his group and everyone just jumped to attention at the return of their glorious leader? Are they all brainwashed, like a cult? What amazing powerz Negan has! Amazing hold he has over all his groupies.

Huh. We ended the last stretch of FTWD with Madison barely escaping drowning, a looming water crisis, a breached dam, and everything else, in 2010 when the plague started. (Travis carves the year onto a board in the episode where the farmer was killed.) So suddenly that’s all in the past, and it’s the same year as TWD?

Or did they go back in time to before Morgan moved to Georgia? Except… Morgan seemed pretty established with his house and family. So he saw the outbreak there. Except… It wasn’t that long after the outbreak that Rick showed up.

Siddiq had a portable trauma center with an operating room in his pocket.

Not to get sidetracked, but is it worth it to watch Fear the Walking Dead? I saw the first one and a half seasons and it was ok. But at this point, is it just more frustration watching another group of jack-holes blunder around the zombie apocalypse acting like idiots?

I started watching Fear because it implied they were going to show the fall of civilization, but then they skipped over that part and it just became a different version of walking dead with people i had zero attachment to.

Meh. They have the same general plot; our heroes find a safe place and it ends up burned or blown up.

Oh come on, they spent two or three minutes with airports closing and lights in the cities going out.

FTWD never ‘grabbed’ Mrs. L.A. She won’t watch it.

And now, sitting in her TWD sweatshirt or TWD jammies, she won’t watch TWD. She’s tired of the ‘Same thing, different day, blah, blah, blah…’

Finally watched today. I am normally pretty forgiving with the show because I loved it so in the beginning. But this episode…no. Just no. Negan should have by all rights died from the injury. And I don’t care about Carl’s letter… Rick SHOULD have finished the job when he had the chance.

And Maggie, Daryl and Jesus basically starting a civil war??? WTF? And the mega-herd? Where did THEY come from?

Just too many loopholes big enough to drive a tank thru.

Guess that lady doctor at Hilltop who chided him in an earlier episode got shown what for.

What I mean is, what are random pieces of stained glass doing hanging from a tree in the middle of nowhere?
mmm

Poetic license, or, perhaps, theatrical license.
Ah! Chekov’s stained glass. ‘If in the first act you have hung a stained glass window from a tree, then in the following one it should be used to cut a throat.’

I answered your second question:

I don’t think we’re supposed to know how the windows got there. All we know is that Rick hit one when he was trying to shoot Negan. They showed him blasting a hole in one of the windows, and then when he was on the ground he picked up a piece of glass and used it to not kill Negan.
