The Weather Forecast MMP

Well, the fart blossoms may be 4 jars of roughly 2 dozen planned. I plan on also doing dill pickles, green beans, and garlic, with the dill pickles being the biggest single item.

I luuuuuurves pickled green beans.

ETA: Rosie, I haven’t tried making kimchi. VWife will say you shouldn’t be giving me any ideas.

Badgers? BADGERS? We don’t need no stinking badgers!

All I can say is, it’s probably a good thing that FCM isn’t on Facebook any more.

I made Italian Beef in the crock pot tonight for dinner, it was so good! I just looked up a recipe on the Internet, so it’s not really mine but here it is anyways:

1 medium onion, sliced in quarters
1 jar of pepperoncini
2-4 lb. pot roast, I used boneless chuck roast
@ 1 cup of beef bouillon
2 packets of good seasons zesty Italian dressing

I put the quartered onion in the bottom of the crock pot, followed by 1/2 the jar of peppers, along with half the liquid, next the roast, then the packets of dressing, followed by the beef bouillon and finally the rest of the jar of peppers. Cover the lid and cook on low at least 7 hours, or until the meat is “shreddable.” Serve on sub rolls or french roll, with whatever condiments you prefer. It is a bit spicy from the peppers, but not too much I guess from them being cooked so long! I even ate a couple of them, believe it or not. And we used provolone cheese but I tell you, I could have eaten just the beef on the roll and it would have melted in my mouth (well, practically). Very delicious, and -very- easy.

Next, I’m going to try out the Pioneer Woman’s pulled pork recipe - using Dr. Pepper soda and chipotle peppers. Now that I’m going to put into a crock pot.

The weather in NM has actually been very decent; temps in the 80s and we’re getting rain even if it is just a bit, nearly every evening. Hoping for even more rain but I think we’ve gotten our share for today. The kids went back to school here this week; I can’t believe it’s almost September! I’ve been here for just over a year now, and I am really enjoying it. I don’t know when (or even if) I’ll be back to the east coast, but that is home.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Swampy, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Anyrose is the winner of the Humphrey Bogart award in this thread.

Anyrose, do not forget the Little People.

I had a big ol’ post about today being doggy day, and I closed the wrong window and it’s gone. :smack::smack:

And I’s tarred <and feathered> so I will dispense with the introductions and simply show Mouse , meeting the cats.

There was FAR more hair on the floor after his <professional> trim than there was dog leftover at the end. Hopefully I can find a before picture, lol. And he was such a trooper! Took them 3 hours to do it all.

And since Mouse has finally closed his eyes, I think I will follow suit.

Whoops…he’s looking at me now. Poor puppy; I hope he sleeps ok.

Night, Dope

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 84! Why I expect to see an iceberg floatin’ in the pool! Just unheard of in August. Oh and it’s cloudy out and looks like it’ll rain anytime. It is supposed to rain pretty much all day. We shall see.

Tao Mouse is so keeeeeeyooooooote!

Since Nuts said badger, The obligatory video must be posted.

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. I might even make toast to go with cereal and milk. That means I will use the toaster which is an appliance so it counts as cookin’. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Good morning! It’s a mere 64° and the house is gloriously cool without benefit of a/c - yay! **FCD **is still abed and I’m only up because I can’t just lie about in bed when I’m awake. As it is, I’m amazed I didn’t totally wake up till after 8!!

**Tao **- what an adorable pup!! How old is he?

I made my last pair of mitts last night - I’ve got 39 in all. After I print out one more sheet of tags and a couple of inventory sheets, I’ll get them all ready to go to the store after I return from my trip. I sure hope they sell - I can’t imagine what I’ll do with 39 pairs of fingerless mitts…

Today is general clean and tidy day. **FCD **will attack the bathrooms and I’ll hit the family room/living room/dining room/hallway. Tomorrow, I’ll launder sheets, towels, and a load of unders so we can start packing. And somewhere in those 2 days, I’ve got to put handles on 3 coffee mugs and put wings and a beak on a fat penguin figurine. I can’t have unfinished pottery drying out while I’m gone, so busy, busy.

And so it goes. Happy Sunday!!

Good morning.

Yesterday was the memorial service for my sweet Love and it was very nice and much less stressful than I imagined it might be. Today I’m going to hang out with two (or maybe three) of his brothers and his son going around to all their old haunts, so I’m looking forward to that.

Tao, your puppy is sooooo cute!

Puppeh!
Better not let the kittehs play with Mouse too much - you know about cats and mice . . .
Now I remember why I rarely drink adult beverages anymore. I’m all wibbly-woobly today

Note to self: Don’t take that road again.
I went out for a ride this morning, on the bike trail for about 2 miles. Get off the trail & climbing the hill out of the valley. There’s a woman barefoot on her lawn in cycling clothes; she says something to me.
“What?”
“mumble, mumble, mumble”
“Huh?”
Now she points back to the trailhead & screams, “Tell them to wait for me.”
Lady, I don’t know who you are & I’m not going to reverse my direction to go pass someone a message who I don’t know what they look like, or if they are even still there just because we use the same form of transportation/recreation.

A couple of hundred yards up there is a golf course. I see a few guys in the corner of the property & then hear thwak, thwak, thwak as one of them shanked a ball into the trees along the side of the road.
Oh, & swampy, this is the obligatory badger link

Hate to tell you, Spidey, this is the obligatory badger link.

Rosie, the guy in your link is scared because my link shows why the badger is so badass.

Whew - how can such a small house require so much work to put it in order??? **FCD **did the bathrooms, including changing out the shower head in the hall bathroom to get a stronger flow of water. I emptied the dishwasher, tidied the common areas, put away all of my knitting/crocheting stuff, vacuumed everything, stripped and remade our bed and even blew out the filter and cannister from the vacuum cleaner. Tomorrow I’ll wash sheets and towels and Tuesday morning, I’ll remake the bed in the guest room and tidy it as much as I can for our guests.

Still need to plan the dinners for their visit - I need to inventory the freezer so I know what meats and veggies I need to buy. Oh, and desserts - FIL has a real sweet tooth. For now, tho, I’m on break.

MOOOOOOM Vienna Sausages, Sardines and Twinkies will take care of feedin’ your inlaws. They are from Flahrduh right? Oh and as to the mittens, if they don’t sell you have gifts for all occasions. Just think, need a last minute Christmas, birthday, baby shower, wedding or graduation gift? You’ve got mittens! All win-win!

I ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut and OYKW has gone to get it. He wanted it so he can go fetch.

“Hey, can you bring me a couple of bandaids??”

Alex, what is something you don’t want to hear from the basement workshop…

*Someone *was carrying a heavy section of countertop without asking for help and he tripped, fell, and cut his leg on the edge of the countertop. This after I told him I wasn’t doing anything so he could call if he needed help.

Men. Sheesh…

Heretics.

Woohoo - PapaJohn gave us 15 free points, which gives me enough for a free pizza! Guess what tonight’s supper will be!

See, that’s what you should serve the ILs

Actually, I kinda planned we’d do pizza one night…

An interesting anecdote, however one spells it:

Evile Mrs. Plant v2.0’s aunt, cousin and nephew from New England visited us.
Took them and Mrs. Plant’s daughter to Lone Star, some steak place with peanut hulls on the floor. Children enjoyed smashing peanuts and tossing the hulls onto the floor.
But I digress.
The Cousin and I went to the bar to smoke. She was amazed that people wore shoes and that I had a job working on computers. She asked me, “This* is* The South, isn’t it?”
I replied with a straight face, “Well, we lost The War.” and she nodded knowingly.
