I have just had a text from 'im indoors to say that he’s booked on a Eurostar train this afternoon, after several days of worrying whether or not he’d be able to get back today. Eurostar have cancelled half their services and have just told people to turn up and they’ll book them onto whatever services they have available so he’s been quite worried about whether he’d actually be able to travel today. Luckily he’s managed to get a seat on a train so everything should be fine.
Normally he’d just get a refund on the ticket and stay put, but it’s his last weekend at home before he moves back for good and he needs this trip to bring a load of stuff back in advance of the final move.
So I will get to spend the weekend with my beloved after all.
Remember I’ve been complaining about our lack of winter…? Well, from a vague unease about getting some rain, it’s gone to this – A huge forest fire, 40 people dead(! :eek: :(), nearly 20,000 evacuated (and probably more to come)… It’s a mess.
I am so tempted to buy a bottle of beer on the way home and get blasted, the stress is so bad right now.
I’ve had the gastric bypass, so I’m a very cheap drunk as a result.
Nothing new on the Mrs. Fred situation. The lab results will come this morning, and they will go from there on the matter of sending her to Greenville (former Spazland) for a shunt.
Good thoughts to Mrs. Fred. And it’s several big white buildings with patients. But no patience, despite my misspellings to the contrary. I also misspelled “misspellings” and also in the course of typing this. :smack:
I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired, so I begged off work an hour early because New Chick was in and I called Other Morning Chick as soon as I got home to see if she’d cover for me tomorrow. She will so I have a :eek:three-day weekend:eek:. Day One will be “rest and recuperate so my already battered immune system can fight off whatever I have besides my platelets.” Day Two is ???. Day Three is profit!..or meet up with Religious Lady for a coffee klatch.
I think the Flonase made me throw up :mad: last night. I’m going to reduce my dosage and if that doesn’t work, then I’ll just give up on it. I’m pretty well decongested right now anyways.
It’s been a day of dull data entry type work. We have no one below analyst level at work so when there’s data entry to be done, they pay the $50k/year analysts to do it. And then when there’s too much, occasionally we senior analysts get pulled in too. It doesn’t seem like the best use of resources, but then again, I didn’t have any “real” work to do so I suppose it’s better to pay me to do data entry than to surf the internet.

Ludovic it’s a not well known fact because it’s her secret shame but Spaz always takes an hour off work to read new Chick tracts. She never checks the box though, the heathen.
This one involved ST:TNG characters fighting space demons - Cmdr X. Harris called for Buffy - who shimmered in without the aid of a transporter. Dr Crusher and Dr W. Rosenberg were casting spells left and right. The fight involved a chase all over Sunnydale, and was stopped by Leo Wyatt and Piper Halliwell. I know there was more, but I couldn’t stop laughing long enough to remember the other bits
I just made the yummiest dinner- leftover turkey pasties. OMG. I made a turkey pot pie filling and used purchased pie crust.
They were the nomiest. After I filled six pasties I had scraps of dough and filing left, so I grabbed a small ramekin, filled it and made a lattice top. Yummy.
I had technical difficulties with connecting to the server from outside the corporate network so the technical gurus had my laptop most of the day. The gurus couldn’t fix it but they did a work around so I am good to go for a while.
Supper will be good pizza from the good pizza place as mr ems is in TX and we have no groceries in as I leave for a work trip on Sunday morning and don’t get back for a week and a half then we fly to the UK for Christmas. 13 more sleeps!
And now I must write Christmas cards. With wine. It helps!

I’d say the odds are about 75% in favor of you suffering through life with me being somewhere in the county. I doubt the Coasties could offer me the GS-13 I put in for in time, nor do I think the Cedar Rapids people could pull off an offer, either, and I haven’t been scheduled for another trip out there yet. Remember, I’m otherwise unemployed Jan 1.
The Coastie CS is the one that would absolutely stop it, because I wouldn’t have to move at all.
