The Weird Dreamage MMP

That’s the basic Michigan Left Turn; like orange juice isn’t just for breakfast, it isn’t just for Detroit. I had to do some around Lansing where the oncoming traffic was going like 70 when I made the u-turn into the fast lane. Good thing I have clutch and a heavy foot. People would actually give directions by “go up route so-and-so and make a Michigan left just past the Pizza Hut”.
(the following will be meaningless to anyone who isn’t a fellow gun nut) Santa brought me an early present – a 03-A3 that was sporterized but really well using all the military parts. Think in terms of a 40s Africa big game gun/Great White Hunter type thing. It has a real by-God Pope barrel and a great set of the Redfield peeps - original maker on the reciever was Smith Corona. So in addition to popping a deer at 500 yards I figure it will do about 80 words a minute.

There are no left turns in New Jersey. just right hand exits that dump you in the correct direction on the perpendicular road onto which you wanted to turn left .

Worked, missed a good hockey game, now its beer n’ bed.

Yep. Hell is being superglued to Jack Chick for all eternity.:eek::eek:

I dreamed one of my employees quit. That’s was the whole dream.

Check out the Youtube clip of R. Lee Ermey with an 03 vs. a Brit with an SMLE Mk. III

Ha!

Christmas cards are written, I am on my second laaaaaarge glass of wine and pizza is on the way.

:dubious:

Did they twirl?

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

But was that a happy dream, or a nightmare? :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and decoratin’.

mmmmmms I, too, have written, addressed and mailed Christmas cards. I can’t believe I actually did that. Go Me! I drug out my two little trees and will set them up to get all shaped up. That’s all that will happen for a while. They will not get decorated until the day before Christmas Eve because it ain’t Christmas until it’s Christmas. This is Advent. Christmas decorations (such as they are) go up then and stay up until Epiphany. That is the Christmas season folks. Yeah, I’m anal about that. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, time for more caffiene and the mornin’ feedin’ of rumbly tummy.

Happy Saturday!

Did I ever mention he’s just a little bit opinionated? Since becoming a contractor 5-ish years ago, he’s worked *for *3 and *with *many, and coming out of industry, he has little regard for most of them, including the first two who employed him. And, hey, he did mention the needs of his company…

Leonardtown is a nice area - the county seat. The zipcode covers a pretty wide territory, and “downtown” Leonardtown is really neat. It’s about 6 or 7 miles from us, bisected by rt 5. Daughter wants to live there, but so far there’s nothing listed under $100K, alas. At all costs, AVOID LEXINGTON PARK!! Crime and drugs - 'nuff said.

I slept until 6:30, which is great! Since getting up, I’ve tended to the food and water for the critters. Daughter and I will do a trash and recycle run this morning. I’d like to finish getting the leaves up this weekend, so we’ll see. And we’re going to look at 3 houses tomorrow.

I’ve decided I need to attack my personal grinchitude by volunteering. There’s a women’s and children’s shelter in the county that I’ve been sending money to, and I think it’s time I do a little more. So I’m going to download their volunteer application and start out giving them a maybe a day every week or two. If it’s a good fit, I may do more.

While I’ve never been a battered spouse, I had a young woman working for me years ago who had 3 kids, one on the way, and she’d just run from her husband. She was working several jobs and going to school full time to make a life for her kids, and she’d started out in the shelter in Jacksonville. She impressed me a lot.

Then when my daughter got older, she had to do community service, so a counselor friend of ours set her up to work with kids in our county’s shelter while their mothers were in group. The stories my daughter brought home, really touched me, and her.

Once we moved here and when I was doing craft shows (I’ll get back to that soon) I decided my “profits” would be donated to the shelter in this county. That put me on their mailing list, and I’ve been impressed by the work they do, so I decided I’d try to volunteer there. Everybody deserves a chance to get their act together and make their lives better. Plus I’ve found I’m someone cynical about this time of year, so I need to do something about that.

Who knows - I may actually do some good! What a concept!!

Well, aren’t we the non-talkative bunch today…

Just back from breakfast and a run to WalMart for cat litter, dog food, and a few other items. **FCD **and daughter are at his office scanning some stuff for school for her. It’s a large binder full of practice test questions and he’s got a high-speed scanner there.

I’ve got to do some laundry and I really should finish up the leaf mulch/vac chore. The storm on Weds knocked most of the last of the foliage to the ground, and if I get it done today, I’m done for the year. That’ll be a relief.

Other than that, who knows? I’ve finished the afghans for niece and nephew - I just need to wash them and block them, then wrap 'em up and somehow get them to my mom. I’ve started to crochet some squares that will eventually make a blanket for either a nursing home or a veteran’s home. And I want to try a knitted shawl pattern, too. I need to use up all this yarn that has accumulated.

Thus goeth my Saturday, so far…

some of us are still asleep

Asleep??? Till the crack of noon?!?!?!?

:stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been productive. I made a brekkie of link sausages and pancakes. NUM! Then I drug out the Crimmus stuff and set the trees up to get 'em shaped. I’ve been through the stuff and yanked out what I will use to decorate and put the rest back in the storage house. Plus, I participated in the feud. See, busy!

ETA: I also submittted my 2011 Death Pool list. All important stuff!

ETA Also: Good on you MOOOOOOM! A very worthy cause.

I’m here! I’m skipping the dog park today, because I have a cyst or something in quite an uncomfortable location. I don’t feel like walking. I do have a bunch of laundry to do. And Mr Rebo went to the store for me, so I can make something called cheesecake layered brownies.
A brownie layer, a cheesecake layer, and I’m substituting a layer of chocolate ganache for the canned frosting the recipe calls for. Mmm - chocolate heals what ails ya!

Dinner will be a poke tenderloin, N.O. Rosie’s N.O.T., and bacon braised fart blossoms.

Good on ya for volunteering, Mom. I should do that.

emphasis mine Qu’est que ç’est?

Up, breakfast eaten, showered, washed dishes, fed the cat who demanded to be fed and now I am headed for coffee, to the mall to spend a $40 rewards check that expires in 2 days, post office to mail Christmas cards, grocery store to get some snacks for my travels tomorrow. Then I must pack for my work trip, pack the Christmas presents I am taking to the UK, download some books to my kindle, update ipod and lastly leave a note for the cat sitter.

Full day! Best get busy.

Rose covered taters?

Morning, everybody. I’m up. That’s all. It’s been a very long week.

Hubby and I differ on Christmas decorations. I put them up the day after Thanksgiving and they stay up until Epiphany. He puts them up on Christmas Eve and takes them down the day after Christmas - Christmas night if he can. He’s such a Grinch.

“bacon braised fart blossoms”
Now I know everything goes better with bacon, but I am curious…

Brussels sprouts to anyone else.

Man, have I been domestical!! I baked a batch of tollhouse cookies with pecans in them. Then I did all the dishes. And I just popped 2 shrimp quiches into the oven. Early supper.

**FCD **and daughter got to see the one house she was quite interested in - it was unlocked!! And apparently it’s very nice. We’re hoping to go back tomorrow with a realtor - this could be it…

Other than that, I’m done being productive for the day. Except for maybe crocheting. We shall see.
