I think I’m willing to allow the Beagle into my “real dog” class. They’re on the small end, but they do have all the dog characteristics, and Uno was very charming.

We had a beagle when I was growing up. Definitely one of the top two dogs we ever owned. (The other was a mutt but with clear basset-hound characteristics.)

Why is it that it’s usually the most common, popular breeds that win – and come in second, third and fourth as well - at Westminster? I’ve got two Portuguese Water Dogs, and the breed has never placed in first through fourth in even the best of group. It’s not just PWDS — it’s all uncommon AKC-recognized breeds.

A Clumber Spaniel won Best in Show a few years ago.
A Clumber? Really? I have an aunt who has two Clumbers; one had to be retired from show, but the other hasn’t. They’re awesome dogs, but there’s not many of them and a lot of people haven’t heard of them.
I’ve met a few beagles and they, too, are great. Most dogs are, really, at least the ones that are actual dogs, not just oversized yappy things.

Now let’s be honest - was anyone else - um - distracted by the vigorous manner in which BIG Uno’s thang was waggling back and forth as he pranced? OUCH!
Come on, tell me my daughter and I weren’t the only pervs watching!
No you weren’t. Fellow perv here . . .
I suppose if the Springer couldn’t pull a two-fer, I can be happy for that cute little beagle.

Now that my dog (the Beagle) won this thing, any chance I’ll be able to see reruns? Or maybe on a website?

Woohoo! The 15 inch beagle judging.
Yep, really.. It was longer ago than I remembered (the article is from 1996).

Huh. Cool. I didn’t know about that!
They have footage up on the site of lots of different breed judging, but they’re not narrated. Still, you get to see the dogs, which is cool. Somebody desperately needs to tell an awful lot of the female handlers that dressing conservatively doesn’t have to mean ugly and frumpy!
