A certain female friend of mine told me the other day, offhandedly I might add, that she was in a porno a while back (before 2000). She was at a bad time in her life, abusing many drugs, flat broke, and such, that she had to turn to the “industry” in order to get by.
She says that she hardly remembers anything about it, other than where it was filmed, which is in Norfolk Va, in the town of tidewater.
As we are talking she asks me if I could find a copy for her, apparantly I am a man who can get things (a “red” as in shawshank redemption).
So I come to you, the fellow doper with this question (after a half an hour of googling) What are the porn (adult entertainment) businesses in Norfolk Va, the tidewater area? How would I be able to find this information?

You might have to do some research. Check the back pages of
porn magazines and look for addresses from VA. But unless she can remember the name of the film, you may never find it. It may
not have made it into general circulation. Not all films made are
put into circulation.

Whew! That sounds like the kinda business that does stuff under the table. For instance I assume she was paid in cash. Which would mean there probably aren’t many records around.

I would say the best bet for her would be to try and remember the name of somebody she worked with. A director, some female actress.

Otherwise I’d say it’s nearly impossible. I mean there must have been 1000s of little fly by night porn operations since the internet came about. Although if she was making an actual feature length VHS movie for distribution those numbers would come down.

You know who you’d want to ask? Strippers. Any dopers in the Norfolk area want to volunteer to go to a strip club, cosy up to one and see who’s filming in the area?
