The White Elephant Exchange 2007

Hanky and his new friend, Henry, the Iron Chef.

Then you must have a very bad (or jealous) manager because I enclosed a detailed list. The main thing to know is that the bells are the white elephant. They’re from Poland (hand carved) and have been sitting around too long.

Also, the clutch is actually a jewellry wrap (for travelling). It was a gift from my mother-in-law who is always trying to get me to wear jewellry.

I hope to get to the post office before it closes tonight, but I won’t be back to the computer until Tuesday. If I get an elephant in the meantime, I LOVE IT!!! Thanks, ??? !

That is pretty freeking awesome!

It would have been better if the big guy was the elephant gift.

TeeHee! Poor **Hypno_Toad ** paid 10 bucks to ship the little guy. Can you imagine shipping on the Iron Chef?

I do, I do! I haven’t gotten it yet, but now I am looking forward to it more than ever and will promptly post pics.

Mine went out yesterday, priority to Texas. Totally forgot to list anything or identify myself, so Hugh Jass, this box of crap’s for you (from me).

Let me just say that the painting hung on the walls of my room when I was a child and I had no choice in decorating.

It is probably why I had to, at one time, see a whole team of mental health professionals.

Suuuuure…blame it on the painting…

::searches OWN house for suspicious paintings::

Aw, a scareloom. Can’t wait.

I don’t think they realize how big Hanky is. Iron chef must be HUGE.

My whole office is eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Elephant. I’m such a nerd.

My Ele marched off to live with Purple Haze last Friday. It should be there by now.
I hope it didn’t die along the way.

No Elephants here either. :frowning:

Whoo hoo! I have an elephant!

This may or may not be a complete listing, because the younger Whatsits immediately bogarted all the good stuff and ran off with it:

  • VHS tape of “History of the World Part 1”, which I haven’t seen
  • VHS tape of “Tombstone”, which I have seen, and love
  • A couple of sci-fi paperbacks I will probably read at some point
  • Red Asian-print purse that MiniWhatsit will most likely appropriate, as her sense of fashion is much more finely developed than mine
  • “Pit” the card game
  • A bobblehead figure of the Burger King, universally agreed to be “creepy”
  • A Happy Meal toy featuring Tow Mater from “Cars” – Whatsit Jr. is sleeping in bed with this thing tonight, I think.
  • Mardi Gras beads. Another MiniWhatsit acquisition.
  • Two picture frames, and if I ever find myself with a 3x3 picture, I’ll know just what to do with it!
  • CD of Ravi Shankar music, and a blank CD that appears to have … Indian music? on it.

And finally, the coolest and most coveted item:

A colorful bendy mosquito with the word “Minnesota” on it (er… I think it was “Minnesota” and one of the kids made off with it so I can’t check right now) that you press the bottom of to make it flap around. Whatsit Jr. found this intriguing and spent several minutes playacting a scenario in which the bendy mosquito ate the Burger King, which I wholeheartedly approved of.

I am going to take a wild guess that all of this loot came from Anaamika? There was no doper name listed on the packaging anywhere that I could see. But, Anaamika or whoever sent it: thank you, from the entire Whatsit family!

Having lived in Minnesota, and having (I think) seen the very object you describe (not THE very object, but one of them!), I must tell you…it’s life size. Mosquitoes are the state bird of Minnesota.

Should I warn you that your sender specifically asked for you?

“Pit” the card game?

Do you have cards like “Pile on” and “Godwin’s Law”?

Uh oh.

Ooo oooooo oooo oo ooooo ooooooooo! Is this one mine? If it is, I’ll be bouncing off the ceiling till it gets here!
