I’m glad you were able to repair it, I was afraid that it would break in transit but I decided to take the chance as it was the best unused decoration I had in my apartment.
Yay! Thanks, Alistair McCello for all the treats. The shadowbox ended up looking very nice in a spot that needed something to fill it.
Is it kosher for those of us who sent something out but haven’t had the recipients post here yet to provide a list of what we sent but may have been delivered to the wrong house, ran over by the UPS truck, or snatched out of an airplane cargo-hold by elephant-envious aliens?
Sure, or you can contact them to via the PM service to see what is up.
I’m still elephant-less, so I think mine must have wandered off at some point. I’ve received other packages recently, so I don’t think it ever made it to my house, unless there’s an elephant-napper in the neighborhood. Actually, the thought of someone skipping the Amazon and Zappos boxes and grabbing the box of random stuff is mildly amusing, although I’m sure they don’t appreciate it like I would.
I’ve emailed my elephantee to make sure anything arrived at all…
I’m sorry… I SWEAR I posted that I got my elephant!
I received it a little while ago, and it was chock full of awesome. Sadly, all the items have since been distributed around the house, so I no longer have them all in one place.
Amongst their items were such diverse elements as:
1 deck of cards from the Playboy Club. Perfect for strip poker!
1 antique looking wooden Rummy game thingamabob. Looks cool. I know my oldest will like playing, as he loves games.
1 rather old school handheld jeapordy game. I look forward to smashing on my wife with this.
An odd plastic lanyard thingy, that appears to be mostly done. My daughter was making these a few years ago, though from the appearance of the rubber bands, I think this one has been sitting in a drawer for a while.
And a double fistfull of other goodness. Thank you so much!
Yeah, I remember those items, you did post that before.
I didn’t get in on this event this year, but hopefully next time!
Yup, post #332 on this very page. You ain’t crazy, Tristan. Well, not because of this, anyway.
:smack:
I R Smart.
I think my elephant got lost on its way to Las Vegas.
It could have made it here but stopped at a casino and lost its ass, borrowed money from a loan shark and is now buried in the desert somewhere.
Maybe it was delivered and it was stolen off the porch.
This sounds like fun. I wish I’d seen the thread earlier, I have tons of junk … I mean neat stuff I could share.
Well, I have tried all available methods of contacting my elephantee, to no avail. So here is the list of things that I shoved into a box with some ghost turds that was shipped off to an as-yet-unknown-fate…
Corporate schwag:
- 1 logo’d stainless steel travel mug
- 1 2" chunk of logo’d post-it notes
- 1 logo’d retractable keyboard brush/broom thing.
Totally random stuff:
- 1 giant snail shell that an ex girlfriend of mine gave me years ago, and has been lurking around in my cubicle decore for years.
- 1 rather tarnished ball-point version of this Mont Blanc pen that I’d found in the window sill of my first apartment in Atlanta back in 1999. I used it until the ink ran out, as it is a very nice, smooth, solid pen. I just never could remember to try and find a refill, after years of keeping it around.
- 1 high school art project of a pinch-pot whistle that I then sculpted into the shape of a SF Giants baseball cap, complete with black and orange glaze and the team logo on the front. Flip the hat upside-down and blow into the bill, and you could play as many notes as the three finger holes would allow.
- 1 copy of An Introduction to Scientolgy that I’d purchased from a local used cd/dvd store for $2 a month or so back. I stuck a note on it that read something to the effect of, “Not for recruitment purposes, but for the purpose of mocking and/or use as a coaster.”
- 1 paperback copy of * Franny and Zooey* by J.D. Salinger.
The primary exhibition piece:
- 1 somewhat functional ColecoVision console, complete with 2 working controllers, power cord, audio/vido cable, and coax adapter/RF switch, and four game cartridges (2 of which I got to work before boxing it up. It seemed to get more fuctional as it warmed up, so I’m hoping all of the games will evetually work) Defender (confirmed working), Cosmic Avenger (confirmed working)Zaxxon (hopefully working) and Donkey Kong (hopefully working).
There may have been another thing or two, but that is all I remember. I hope it got where it was supposed to go.
