The White Elephant Exchange 2007

I am not giving away the boy until next year!

My kid named him. Full name seems to be F. N. Creepy.

The Aqua Velva, Electric Shave, and the Odor Eater stuff was actually in a gift basket that I won earlier this year. Most of the little trinkets were bingo prizes from my mother’s day program. The umbrella, business card holder, and bag were trinkets from my last part-time job (we got lots of them “as perks”). The cds and books are things that I have enjoyed and like to pass on.

And a Merry Elephant to you too!

Don’t know. They haven’t posted here though. Must have sent you the email instead? It’s very confusing to me.

I also have not received an elyfant.

However, I just sent mine out today, and it should arrive at it’s location in 3 days, via USPS.

Not sure how it works when it’s a PO box, which should be a hint to whom it is for. heheheh

(now off to do a search on my elephantee, to find out if I sent anything inappropriate)

OOO, I have a PO Box. Maybe it’s for me…

Dear Flying Spaghetti Monster,

Please watch over my white elephant. She was sent off (after being subject to careful taping and ad-hoc sharpie illustrations) last Tuesday morning, but there has been no sign of her safe arrival.

Amen,

Cookies

I’m not sure what I fear more: no flying elephant arriving or the actual arrival of an overburdened pacyderm.

Do not dismay GardenTraveler Your elephant will be on the way shortly. Lot a personal craziness with my dad having to go into a nursing home and whatnot, so my time really hasn’t been my own, but it’s on the way, I promise.

JayJay! Nice work, the ladies gardening hat will look great next to my fire helmet. HA!

Thanks again!

The pacyderm touched down today!

Not too big. Not too small. Everything for the kidlets…and boy did they have a blast digging in and running off with their loot.

All I was left with was some greenish waist/shoulder pack, semi-used stickers and a spy glass.
Woooooo!
What fun!
Thanks!

OK, here’s the really sick thing. I was engaged in some serious cleaning/decluttering today, and many was the time I paused, on the verge of pitching something, and thought, “Wait! This could go in next year’s White Elephant box!”

I told myself I would do exactly that last year, and then forgot. Ah well.

I’m pretty sure my wifes got some stuff that will go into next years elyphant.

It’s here! It’s here!!

As we were sitting around the house, having just finished plates full of leftovers for lunch, a mighty trumpeting noise and a loud “THUD” announced the arrival of our pachyderm!

From far off Idaho, we have been the wonderful recipient of glorious treasure from freespiritisi! Thanks!

It contained:

A lanyard that appears to be quite a ways towards done, made out of plastic strips braided together. From the state of the rubberbands, I think it’s been sitting in a drawer somewhere for a while now

4-5 Halloween themed pencils, immediately grabbed up by my little one.

A jeapordy electronic game thing. I’m eager to trounce my beloved wife

A copy of Patriot Games. I haven’t read this one in a long time, so it will be nice to refresh my memory.

An almost virgin notebook, with one page used to make notes on vocabulary. Vocabulary that appears to be Real Estate Agent-y.

An odd looking mouse thing. I think it’s a mouse. USB cable, that leads to a handheld thingy with buttons and what appears to be a small trackball.

A wooden boxed Rummy game item. With photo-copies directions. Look forward to trouncing my wife at that too, hopefully this weekend.

A deck of cards, from the Playboy club casino.

A small stack of pots, which will be perfect for starting plants in the spring.

A “Petato” coloring book/intro to Idaho book. Also grabbed by my little one.

YAY!!!

I’m trying to keep my “newb” status by keeping my post count down. Yeah, that’s it. Or, I may have forgotten to post. My sincerest apologies.

I received the elephant just over two weeks ago. I encountered an issue when my brothers tried to lay claim to the innards, particularly the items listed at bullet four.

The high-lights (off the top of my head because I misplaced, after recording the contents of the box, item one):
[ul][li]a funky notebook/journal[/li][li]an odd-shaped deck of cards with a cat theme, in a cool cat-shaped case[/li][li]a guide to wineries in New York State[/li][li]three flashy ball toys[/li][li]a baseball cap from a national park (Olympic, I believe, but I could be mistaken)[/li][li]a beeeyoutiful heart decoration that I just couldn’t keep from cough sharing with another oh-so-lucky doper[/li][li]and loads of other stuff that I can’t remember, but I’m sure I will as soon as my edit window expires.[/li][/ul]

Thanks, Tapiotar!

And, dearest elephantee, no worries! Your package and Tristan’s were posted from the local post office at the same time, so you should be receiving it in short order (according to the post office, by next Wednesday at the latest).

“Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Elephant has landed.”

With much thanks to Tristan;

a working wave castle fish tank air pump
a Microsoft Money 97 w/ keys
a can of Bush’s baked beans (dinner tomorrow)
a GE grounding outlet
a Trademaster wall plate
a Cold Steel promo DVD (it’s either knives or vibrators)
a “Night of the Living Dead” DVD - a classic (way cool)
a Northern Brewer catalog (mmmmm, beer supplies)
a small bag of plastic spiders (handy for lots of occasions)
a package of Mongolian Beef seasoning (just happened to have some Mongolian beef lying around)
a plastic candy cane or the smallest pimpstick evar!
an outlet coverplate
a paperback copy of “The Island of Dr. Moreau”
a Mannheim Steamroller Christmas music CD
a gently used roll of electrical tape. UL listed. (the remainder was keeping the package together)
a phone line/USB adapter
a Papermate blue highlighter. slightly used.
a fridge magnet thingie. A technical term as explained.
a modern new fangled letter opener
a marble/glass egg (which has assumed its prominent display on top of the rolltop desk where I usually leave the money for the hookers, er I mean maids)

Thanks again Tristan, it was worth the wait!

I’m so sorry mine is late. I’ll be mailing it out tomorrow!

No sweat! Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t among the lost ones…

GT

I am very glad it was satisfactory. I gotta admit, I read some of the other folks elephants…

1 gold brick
a map to buried pirate treasure
Stephanie Swifts private phone number
a large bound stack of gold Krugerands…

And I always worry that mine is not up to snuff. Glad to see that you liked it!

And thank you, BrattiAtti, I look forward to my elephant!

Woo Hoo! An elephant was retrieved on Saturday, all the way from Kalamazoo.

He contained:

Golden retriever puppy mouse pad
A Star Wars buddy (some sort of guy in a brown robe with a dark brown leather strap, like this), with a sprinkling of what I assume is golden retriever hair
Ethernet port
AC adaptor
Bartleby the Scrivener book
A wizard hat (fair trade for the jester hat that I sent out)
BBC Jane Austen DVD set (I LOOOVE Jane Austen so this is PERFECT)
BACON SALT (Peppered) --NOW I can find out what all the fuss is about!!!
and the item I believe is to be displayed:

An Asian shadowbox scene. Now, it was worse for wear when it arrived and I almost gave up on it, but then I heard Zebra’s voice saying “By participating, you promise to display the item.” So I wielded the hot glue gun:

Before
After

Can anyone tell me what these characters mean?

Thanks, gifter from Kalamazoo!

Elephant has arrived!

My list o’stuff is at home and I’m posting from work, so I can’t recall off the top of my head all the wonderful goodies that were in the box, except for the enormous butterfly wings. “That must have been some big butterfly,” Hallboy commented, shortly before I made him try them on. (Sorry, but I didn’t get a pic.)

Thank you, my fellow Doper!

I hope you realize I sound exactly like Ricardo Montalban. I just look like Antonio Banderas.
