The "who is she and what is she singing?" game.

All right, I’ll admit it. This is just another themed “Name That Tune” thread. But I enjoy them so much and Dopers always come up with some great stuff and it’s been-- what two months– since I last started a NTT thread-- please forgive me for being a One Trick Pony and play with me.
This is name the song and the female singer who sings it (oh fine, just name the group if you’re not sure). Don’t forget to add your own. Here are a few (easy) ones to start off with.
BG1: Lift your open hand, strike up the band
And make the fireflies dance.

BG2: We know all our lines so well.
We’ve said them so many times-- time and time again.

BG3: Silence! When I spit it out in your face
Open your mouth- give you a taste.

BG4: I may seem all right and smile when you leave
But my smiles are just a front.

BG5:When situations never change, tomorrow seems unsure
Don’t leave your destiny to chance- What are you waiting for?

BG1: Sixpence None the Richer - Kiss Me

OK, here goes:

M’Elf1: I held a silver dollar tight inside my fist and let you go. I’ve counted all the things I’ve lost that point to this and let you go.

BG2: Kate Bush - Wow?

JB1: Not me baby, I’m too precious - Fuck Off!

Macy Gray - I Try

My brain’s too frozen to think up anything right now, but I will return.

My girl Missy Elliott – Ger Ur Freak On

GY1: Do some people wind up with the one that they adore
in a heart-shaped hotel room it’s what a heart is for

GY2: Your kisses are as wicked as an F-16
And you fuck like a volcano, and you’re everything to me

GY2 - Liz Phair - Supernova

GY2: Supernova - Liz Phair

JB2: “…You can kind of lie it beside you or wrap it around your waist or touch it on your legs or whatever, that’s your business…”

BG5 – Swing Out Sister - “Breakout”

Mnstr1: “Nothing’s true and nothing’s right. Just let me be alone tonight.”

I know the song, but not the singer. So, I guess I’ll just shut up.

And all mine have been got.

JB1: Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders)- Precious

D-moe1: “When I wake up, I won’t see you in the bedroom door, by the wallpaper stain from the cup that I threw at your head.”

Mnstr1: Sheryl Crow “Are You Strong Enough to be my Man” … or something to that effect.

“In a tower of steel, nature forges a deal to raise wonderful hell, like me, like me.”

Oops, I mean: kmon1: “In a tower… like me.”

kmon1: Isobel by Bjork!

Biggirl, I am so psyched that you even know the song - it’s called “Betting On Trains”. Do you know the name of the band but not the singer?

Here’s more, because I can’t let a thread on women musicians die!

M’Elf 2: It’s savage and it’s cruel and it shines like destruction, comes in like the flood and it seems like religion

M’Elf 3: I’ll be your slave. Give you a shave. I don’t wanna. I don’t think so.

M’Elf 4: Do you think of me like I dream of you? Do you wish you were here like I wish I was with you?

Kool Thing - Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon on vocals
I like this game!
MrD001 - “Suddenly shattered ear to ear, cut to the guts and I’m screaming to be”
MrD002 - “And did you know desire’s a terrible thing, the worst that I could find”
MrD003 - “His eyes have gone away, escaping
over time. He rules a crowded nation inside his mind.”

"You loved me before. Do you love me now? by the Breeders.

Km1: As you lay dying, poppies surrounding/Bursting wide open, revealing their seeds.

Km2: Can’t be safer, can’t be more secure, than with a breast in each palm. That’s the way I was born, and that’s the way I want to die.

Km3: I’m so bored that I’d be entertained even by a stupid fuckin linoleum floor, linoleum floor, Your lyrics are dumb like a linoleum floor

Km4: What a big black mess, what a hunk of love. He’d walk her every day into a shady place. He’s the dark, but I want him.

Km5: Turn away and a pillow, 'cause it’s falling on down. Try to wait it around, before your ships are found.

I heard it over a friend’s house MsElf. She told me the name of the song but not who sang it. So who sings it?

More easy ones from me

BG6: They get so angry, like pouty children denied their candy.
I laugh right at them

BG7: I don’t want to be your food or the light from the fridge on your face at midnight.

BG8: He just let it all hang loose
He didn’t think about the noose
He couldn’t take no more abuse,
So he shot down the congregation

Pixies - Gigantic - Kim Deal
MrD004 - “You are an ocean wave my love, crashing at the bow. I am a galley slave my love”

Hmm…Let me toss up a few. Bonus points to anyone who gets any of these.

u1: “My best friend was alone in the alcove, has anyone seen her there? Such a sweet face, trapped in the staircase by the smell of her own burning hair.”

u2: “Hey chew toy head, you’re swollen and disfigured. If I strech out your face do you feel any bigger?”

u3: “Goblet of delicious vermilion wine; I give myself up to his grim embrace.”

u4: “I think I’m rotting on the inside way down deep inside my soul…I’ve built this little coffin that I live in every day. I peek out every day or so to see those ghosts at play.”

u5: “This monolith of everything that I have been is vacillated and aghast. The inexorable time has taught me once again that my features will change and macerate me.”

u6: “As faith for the future faded fast, he grows strong with their displeasure. It sets him free.”

u7: “For nature hates virginity. I wish to be touched–not by the hands of wheres and whys but by the Ocean’s minds.”

u8: "He is magic and when he kisses me I can taste him on my lips like an elixir. Far from innocent, he is pure evil, a sinner’s prayer…a saint’s desire. "

BG8: Carol King, Smackwater Jack

And I’ll give on M’Elf 1 Biggirl, since it’s a really small album so far. It’s by a band called HEM, and the album is Rabbit Songs. They were on an independent label but just got picked up by Sony. Get it! Absolutely the best new album I’ve bought in ages. Sort of alt/country/folksy/hillbilly traditional. My tastes usually run more towards Sonic Youth, Pixies, Nirvana, etc.
