What’s the skill involved?? The ‘game’ seems to be clicking a set of three or more of the same colours that are near each other.
Aside from being able to carefully work out what sequence of clicks will create the bigger ‘groups’ there doesn’t seem to be a way to play it that is ‘more skillful’ than just random clicking.
That’s the point of games like this; to be able to remove large groups and rack up large numbers of points. It isn’t really random; you can choose to remove only 2-3 circles in order to get a set of 12 up to 18 or whatever, and get a higher score. I like this kind of game for their excellent time-wasting capabilities.
It is also called Jawbreaker, and there is a strategy to it.
I play in Megashift mode and the way I play is:
1.) identify the least frequent colours in your current pattern
(ie. what are the two colours which appear to be more frequent)
2.) always leave a few matched pairs on the board
(either on the bottom row, or in the right most column)
3.) if you have a choice between a row and a column which will clear completely, eliminate a column to get more bubbles
4.) work from top left to bottom right eliminating the least frequent color groupings, saving the dominant colour grouping for last
5.) Whenever you receive more bubbles, re-evaluate the dominant colours, and start back in the top left most area eliminating the least frequent colours first.
My average score is 996 points, and there may be better strategies than this to playing the game, but it works for me as a good diversion while riding the train.
I play in standard portrait mode and just finished a 500 game stint with a 655 average. I’ve probably played the game 3000 times or so. Quick, semi-mindless fun.
My strategy resembles lexi’s in that I try to clear out the one or two least represented colors as my first step. Rule of thumb for me is any grouping worth over 90 points is worth spending some time to increase.
There is strategy involved, since you are rewarded for the most bubbles you can break in a move. Since the point values increase exponetially, you need to figure how the bubbles will realign after your move (or several moves ahead) in order to get a high score.
Yeah, the point is to get a high score by linking many bubbles, it was quite intriguing. In standard game I was at an average of 545 (ok not great but it amused me) after far too many games. Thankfully my iPaq broke, there is no flash version for the PC and I am fee of the curse.
