Swanson’s TV Dinners has changed from mashed potatoes to macaroni and cheese in their Hungry Man salisbury steak TV dinner.
I mean, macaroni and cheese with salisbury steak??? This is just NOT RIGHT !!!

I think they did that because Stouffers does the same thing.
BTW Euty, you must have been in my freezer today cuz I am having Stouffers Salisbury and Mac-N-Cheese for dinner tonight.
Usually I find that mashed potatoes in a frozen dinner take longer than the rest of the meal to cook.
OK that’s it. The moral fucking fiber of our country is coming apart. We have replaced an American dish with a foreign one. Those fucking italians and their fucking macaroni. I WANT MY AMERICAN POTATOES!!!
Damn cold too, and the light does go out when you close the door.
You know what drives me up a wall?
When one of your favorite frozen food manufacturers creates a new dish only to find out it tastes like caca. Or they discontinue one of your favorites.
They should go to hell over that.
Oh, a few weeks ago, I got a Stouffers chicken and noodles thing that I loved for years. They changed the recipe and tasted like something you can get at Furr’s Cafeteria…boring, bland and tasteless.
I used to love the chicken nuggets they had, back when you could tell it was real chicken. Now it’s like eating chicken paste, and either it gets crispified when you cook it or it melts into a soggy mess.
At least the dip for them is still good.
But the “brownie” treats, as they call them, have NO FLAVOR. Those dumbfucks don’t know of this stuff called “cocoa”.
My main lady these days is Michaelina. Cheap and good!
I always hated TV dinner mashed potatoes. They’re so obviously instant. Ecch.
I don’t buy entire frozen dinners anymore. I just had salisbury steak last night. I buy the family pack of meat and make my own side dishes. Last night I made cheddar broccoli rice a roni, and instant potatoes. Today for lunch I had a salisbury steak sandwich and chips. I still have 3 steaks left.
A pit thread by Euty?
Another frozen thing that’s really good is the garlic pasta and vegetable (broccoli, mostly) combo from Bird’s Eye (I think Bird’s Eye, might be Green Giant). It’s really yummy. Costs about a buck. One fills me up.
(Don’t do the three cheese pasta thing though - phlacky!)
yuck TV dinners they taste like putang. Give me good ol fast food anyday. mmm the life of a bachelor…
<insert obligatory pit expletives> Fucking piece of shit whore raping goat testicle licking fucks at Swanson!!!
talkingsquirrel,
If you mean “poontang” then please tell me what kinds have this taste. Hey, you can never have enough poontang in your diet.
Lol… Such naughty people here
::Homer/::
Poontang mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
::\Homer::
Oh yeah? well I like my fucking mac and cheese, but those whorelicking idiots at Lean Cuisine reformulated their lunch offerings a few years ago. You used to be able to get Mac-n-cheese with broccoli as a side dish, which constituted at least a forkful of attention to nutrition and smart eating amidst the vast wasteland of my lunch habits. But nooooooooo they took away the broccoli and just made the mac-n-cheese portion bigger. THANK YOU for the plateful of nothing but starch and fat, you assholes. How am I going to balance out those hohos I’ll be scarfing for dessert?!?!
As for the OP, I’m sorry, but you must be a desperate, desperate soul to be missing the bleached paper-flavored gruel that your typical frozen dinner calls “Mashed potatoes.”
There are few things that will draw a timid foodie into the Pit, but a 'tater discussion is one of them.
Go ahead and blow Stouffer’s mind and make your own mashed potatoes. Of all the easy things for even the most reluctant and untrained cook to make, mashed potatoes is (are?) the easiest. Recipe: boil a bunch of peeled potatoes until they are squishy. Mash 'em with a masher and add milk until they are of the consistency you like best. Salt 'em.
Now you can tell Stouffer’s to stuff the mac ‘n’ cheese. BTW, make lots. You will devour every atom, guaranteed.
pugluvr’s recipe for mashed potatoes:
You forgot the butter. Ya gotta put in butter and lots of pepper. Otherwise, the recipe’s fine. Easiest thing in the world.
I stopped eating instant potatoes of all varieties (remember potatoes au gratin in a box?) at about 10 years old. Then it became my job to peel the 5 lbs of potatoes my mom used for her mashed potatoes. Now I leave the skins on–harder to mash, but they taste good.
I can’t remember the last time I ate a frozen dinner. But I used to love Stouffers fried chicken dinners.
Remember, with just a few more ingredients you can have delicious Venezuelan Beaver Cheese and Kumquat Quiche (just don’t forget the Orgasm Powder)…
And sour cream. Just a dollop or two. Yummy!
I too am assuming you meant poontang. If ya don’t like it, I suggest you stop buying from the Sara Lee Lesbian Lite line of frozen foods.
Seriously though, y’all shouldn’t be eating that frozen Mac & Cheese shit. You should be making your own.
1 lb. of yer favorite pasta (I use a mix of shells and twirls) boiled and drained
1 small onion diced (Vidalia if available)
½ lb. o’ colby cheese cubed
½ lb. o’ Velveeta® cubed
½ cup o’ milk
2 Tbsp. o’ butter
1½ Tbsp. seasoned or fresh ground black pepper
1 Tsp. oregano
1 Tsp. basil
1 Tsp. onion salt
12 - 15 saltines crumbled
2 oz. grated parmesan cheese
*All measurements are approximations. Use as much or as little as feels good.
Mix everything except the saltines and parmesan cheese in a glass/pyrex® dish to distribute the cheese evenly. Do not mix until the cheese melts; this would be very wrong.
Sprinkle the parmesan on top. Sprinkle the crackers on top of that.
Bake at 350ºF for 30 to 40 minutes.
Serve with some nice crusty pumpernickel rye.
