The WoW "Burning Dog Legion" (Cairne/Horde) 10-man Raid List.

Simpler pattern recognition. I’m here on the little circle, he’s going to that point on the little circle, therefore I have to go (left/right/stand still).

… bear in mind that I mainly raid as a healer these days; anything less abstract than squares and circles kind of blows my mind.

I guess. I still don’t see how that’s any easier than seeing what way he’s actually facing at the time. But *de gustibus non est disputandum *and all that. (Pretty sure DXE throws up “run that way!” arrows, too, so the redundancy appears to happen across mods.)

Hey guys- now that Ginsu’s an 80 and gearing, I figured I’d toss my hat in here. What’s normal raiding night? (Or is there one?) I’ve got a few friends who’re looking to join up possibly as well…

Monday’s are usually our raiding night. You should get an invite on the calendar that tells you the time it starts.

Just downloaded DXE and I’m going to give it a trial run during tonights ICC10. Will I have to set it up for each of my raiding 80’s or can I just save the profile and load it when I switch characters?

The thought of having to configure yet another addon for three different characters is a little annoying, but I’ll try anything once.

Does DXE even need to be configured? I’ve never had to futz with DBM except to move the timer bars around.

DXE works fine out of the box. Really, the only things I change are turning off some alerts on toons that don’t need them, or occasionally adding emphasis to certain things I have a tendency to zone out on (e.g., putting in a screen flash when the Defile countdown hits ~8 seconds). Because my settings are so character-specific, I haven’t experimented, but IIRC you can set up profiles which you can then copy from character to character.

ETA: I’m almost certain settings carry over–I don’t remember having to reset my alert bar positions when I turned it on for my Mage.

That would have been me. embarassed grin

It wasn’t mentioned that after the raid broke up 5 of us chained a few Heroics together and grabbed a bunch of emblems. Lightbird got some tanking experience even if he didn’t get any drops. I really need to up some of his (still sub-200) gear and I may have the emblems to do it. (50frost/95triumph)
We also got to down Ahune and get the emblems from there as well.

Not to mention we also finished Of Blood and Anguish, which in Zul-Drak was the last quest I needed for it’s 100 quest requirement. And I don’t know about everyone else, but chain running heroics with guildies was infinitely more relaxing than the random PUGs as a healer, so if others want to do that more often, I’d be up for it.

I’d also add that if you have a hunter raiding with y’all, Tranq Shot is invaluable in the event that Icehowl manages to hit someone when he charges.

Or a rogue with tranq poison, but that’s a serious DPS hit for rogues to put up.

The Icehowl fight is less about DPS and more about keeping everyone alive, particularly the tanks and healers. An enrage is an almost guaranteed wipe, and two enrages will be a wipe. If a hunter isn’t available, then a rogue with tranq poison only hurts themselves by pursuing their DPS numbers over the cohesion of the raid.

Yeah, even a partial guild-group (especially if both the tank and the healer are from your guild) does wonders.

Everybody does zero DPS face-down on the floor. If people consistently can’t move out of Icehowl’s charge and there’s no Hunter, it’s a very good idea for one person to take a personal DPS hit in order to keep the entire raid, including themself, alive. (Couldn’t the Rogue also just keep an extra dagger with the right poison in their bags and set up a macro to swap it with their normal weapon?)

I thought we did pretty well last night. I have no problem with and actually enjoy learning new fights and seeing new-to-me content (yeah, I know I’m way behind the curve on that). If nothing else, we got a good base of knowledge and some practice for next time. With only a couple exceptions, my Mondays are free for the next few months.

Echo the sentiments about chain running heroics with Doggies for emblems and/or loot. I also have a fairly new 80 (hunter) that needs gearing, but I can bring whoever’s needed.

Does anyone have toons in the mid to upper 20s? I’m thinking I can be doing something a little more constructive than the Tournament dailies for the 4th time and would like to try my hand at tanking. I’d rather embarrass myself the first few times with you guys than with pugs.

Awsmpallytnk the warlock is now up to level 17, not an impossible gap to close.

I snicker every time I see Awsmpallytnk log on. Have you gotten any comments about the name?

*Just bumping this thread so that tonight’s attempt is on everyone’s radar.

Not directly. I’ve had people in battlegrounds buff me with might, which amuses me.

At that level, IIRC, Might is all they have to buff you with. So everybody gets it.

Hey, since there has been a lot of turnover in the guild in the last 12 months or so, I wanted to make everyone aware (if you’re not already) that we actually do have a guild message board of our very own. It used to have a fair amount of use, but has been pretty dead for the last six months or so. But for general Burning Dog Legion chatter, if you don’t want to use this thread or hijack the WoW omnibus thread, we have http://burningdoglegion.com/boards/

I’ll make a point to start checking those boards more regularly in case folks want to post there.

So. Progress was made in ToC 10 - we wiped a few times on Northrend Beasts, once due to sheer off-tank stupidity when I didn’t realize how badly damaged my armor and weapons were, and after a death and battle res I wound up punching Gormok because my 2-hander was broken; but mainly because the healers couldn’t quite keep everyone up. We had our shadow priest switch to become our third healer and zoomed straight through the NR Beasts after that; one guy got run over by Icehowl but the rest of us managed to get the rhythm down on the strafing and took him down pretty easily.

We one-shot Lord Jaraxxus, but then wiped a few times on the faction champs; couldn’t quite get the healers down fast enough - our best result had the second healer hitting the floor at about the same time as we lost the fourth out of ten of us.
