The WTHeck did I volunteer for this? MMP

Lunch time!! And I’m just about finished the last of the first batch of drawings. They wanted me to burn a bunch of hours - I don’t think I even used 8.

Guess I work too fast… Oh well. :stuck_out_tongue:

My spousal unit has been pretty impressed - he really had no idea how good a drafter/engineer I am. At least this should prove to his boss and various others in the company that I am, in fact, a competent employee and they done good by hiring me. I know there was concern about whether I was just using nepotism to land this cushy cubicle. Well, surprise, surprise - some of us gummint employees (former and otherwise) really do know how to do our jobs quickly and well.

Maybe I’m overly paranoid, but most of my career, I’ve had to deal with people not expecting me to be competent because I was “just a girl” in highly technical jobs - both as an electronics technician, and later as an engineer. You’d think after almost 40 years, I’d get used to it, but nope, not so much. At least I don’t have the added burden of being a super-hot blonde to further detract from my credibility…

Speaking of cookies, I want some, and not the computer kind. Oatmeal raisin would be good - one of you needs to get me some!

I hate colds.

{{{Taters}}} It’s not easy but it does get better with time.

**{{{Emily}}} ** I’m sorry for you and your family.

**Capt ** you are darn near poetic when you describe the night. There is something about snowy nights, when it’s quiet and the moon is full.

Cookies would be a waste on me right now, I can’t taste a thing. Alcohol might help though.

My homeless friend can’t pull it together so he needs a ride to Va, I can’t do it now, even if I had the time I don’t think I can drive that far (4 hours each way) right now.

sari you’re sick so you don’t need to be drivin’ any kind of distance. Really.

**N.O.L.**time here too. Red beans and rice I took outta da freezer. YUM!!!

Welp, Mr. Jynx’s Sister’s Husband (here after known as THAT JACKHOLE) has officially done A Bad Thing. This thing is so bad that he (THAT JACKHOLE) may not make it out of the hospital and if and when he does he will be going straight to jail for a long, long time. I hope he never gets out. The good news is physically he only hurt himself, the bad news is he screwed my sister-in-law and thier son most likely for the rest of their lives with his selfishness.

Well, committing a felony is generally grounds for divorce with cause. Maybe she should take advantage of that.

Details please, when the shock wears off a bit.

Happy humping day all,

I have been useless today and darned happy about it.Did the corporate coffee thang, NYT x word thang (top left corner has me flummoxed but I will get back to it ). I had a fantastic rhythm section practice yesterday which brings me to this…

MOOOOM as to the questioning of your competence because of your plumbing. I am getting a little stabby about this. Three times this has happened, I have been accused of playing music with a woman solely for the purpose of the tab A slot B thing, they still really don’t believe that she is good drummer. I can tell them, till I am blue in the face, she is my friend, not my type, has a killer right foot, great time, has serious boyfriend, etc and still I get “wink, wink, nudge nudge”. Aargh

Emily I have been reading your posts about your family life as of late and have been trying to find the right words to help and console you. The best I can do is repurpose a line from Dan Savage “It gets better”. I know you are hurting now, I think I can speak for all of us in saying , we empathize, please vent in our general direction, give love to your Dad and try to have a good Christmas. Big hugs and give it time.

Sari Thank you

Swampy quit making me hungry

That’s all I got, gotta go to the store and later keep working on LZ’s No Quarter

Capt

I has cookies

Not many cookies 'cos I already et most, and they’re a bit… odd, 'cos I used a weird recipe that used banananananas instead of sugar, but still, homemade cookies from scratch, I feel all domestic 'n stuff. And I cooked a proper dinner rather than just heating stuff up today too. Go me.

Not too sure how the interview went yesterday- it wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great either, I tend to go a bit quiet when I’m nervous, and it was a really bouncy talky place, and they want a receptionist, so quiet is not the ideal. We shall see.

I was supposed to be starting the hellishness known as ye dread Christmas Shopping today, which I’m trying to buy locally where possible. Maybe I’ll start tomorrow, though it’s supposed to be all horrid and wet again, and I’ve still got no idea what to get about half the people.

i have three over ripe banananananas at home. Maybe I could try the cookie recipe? Do you have it that you can post here?

Howdy from da cave. I has a hunk o’ poke to go in the convection oven shortly. I envision wild rice and green beans to go with said hunk o’ pork. Maybe some bizkits. The frozen kind, which I will very thoughtfully bake.

Also, I scored two tickets to an all you can eat pancake breakfast on Sattidy. All the pancakes, bacon and snausages one can scarf down. YUM!

First of all, hugs for everyone.

Second, thank God my internet has returned. I have so much homework left to do and it would be an incredible pain to have to schlep everything to the library.

So, let’s see, I was supposed to be going to the HFUN’s tonight and then I wasn’t and then I was and then I wasn’t. (I’m not going.) But during the time that I was supposed to be going I made a cheesecake to take with me for Mrs. HFUN’s birthday. She wanted a peanut butter cup cheesecake so that’s what I started except I didn’t have any peanut butter. :smack: Therefore it turned into an oreo cheesecake on a graham cracker crust. :dubious: Then I found out I officially wasn’t going until at least the weekend if then and I decided that the cheesecake needed to go away, so I gave it to some friends. The end.

Here ya go Apes, it was nicer last time I did it, but the bananananas were too big this time and not very sweet, so I didn’t add any sugar at all- they still all got et though:

Ingredients
8oz porridge oats
2 ripe bananananas- made up to 8 oz with brown sugar if needed
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
4oz marg/butter/oil or combination thereof
1 beaten egg

and, if available - 1 oz dark chocolate chips.
Mix everything but butter together, making sure there’s no big lumps of nana left. Melt marg/butter/oil in a saucepan and mix thoroughly.

Drop walnut size blobs onto a greased baking tray, and squish them down a bit (I use greased greaseproof paper), allowing space for cookies to run.

Bake in middle of moderate oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown and still a tiny bit soft.

I feel all domestic and everything!

Made it safely home from Shreveport back to OKC after a long 6 1/2 hours. Checked work emails and I am sitting with my feet up.

Supper tonight wil be sausage and peppers with steamed broccoli. Yum.

Hugs to those that need it.

fcm I have the same issue with certain people assuming being in possession of a nice pair of boobs means I have no idea what I am talking about. I run rings around most of the guy engineers I know

Home at last. I ended up working an hour over because **FCD **got pulled into a meeting that ran long. That makes up for the half-hour early yesterday, plus some!

Before I left, I got an email saying that the part I went to PA to measure for works really well. So yay! I was a little worried, but apparently **FCD **and I caught all the potential problems ahead of time. We make a good team.

Supper was pancakes because we got home late and I didn’t have anything thawed. I had to make them from scratch - my pancake mix was 3 years old and turning brown. Yeah, I don’t make pancakes that often…

We’re doing some online shopping tonight, and I’ll be knitting another dishcloth for my mom or her friend. Mostly, it’ll be a veg night.

Howdy,

Back from the store and have a few groceries, had a late afternoon meal of Chikin fried steak sammich w/bacon and cheese and fries. My arteries are clogging as we speak

Gotta run

Cheers

Jim

really postal. aarrrgghh!

I’m afraid to ask what the commercial is - I’ve been spared. Is it a local ad or a national abomination?

The pancakes were unsatisfying. I want something but I’m not sure what I want. A muffin, perhaps?

Thanks again, all. Many hugs to all of you

I had my driving theory test today. I’ve been under so much stress lately that I didn’t have as much time to study for it as I would’ve liked. And then I took the wrong bus there and had to walk several kilometres very fast to the testing place, most of the time on a dirt path beside the busy road because there was no sidewalk. So I got to the testing place much later than I would’ve liked. I was worried I was late. But I took the test… and I PASSED. Against all the odds - against every single last odd - I passed. Wow.

Darnee! Molassses did not make it into my grocery cart this morning!! Of course, that means no chocolate gingerbread, this week. I will make it before Christmas, this I vow. Nothing quite as good as the taste of chocolate and ginger, let me tell you. Well, almost nothing.

We had a lot to buy today, a whole bunch of little things and basics, unfortunately. FCM, I buy a box of (usually store brand) pancake & waffle mix just about every month, we often have pancakes on the weekend. Or more likely waffles; I seem to have gotten a pretty good handle on the little Belgian wafflemaker now, I think. I hope. One thing that surprised me was how good the sugar-free syrup tastes. Yeah buddy! And because of the senior discount, I got almost $30 off on the groceries! We still have a trip to Wal*mart, for Christmas groceries, later this month.

My nephew (my only nephew! LOL) got engaged the other night!! He did it up right, too, went down on his knee and everything. The ring is so beautiful too, a teardrop diamond surrounded by smaller stones, on a diamond-cut band, so pretty! I don’t know when my kids are going to get into relationships, much less get engaged, so I guess I’ll just enjoy my nephew’s engagement for now. LOL

Welp, hope everyone is doing okay this week - the holidays can be so stressful. Please try to de-stress as much as you can, try meditating, it might help. Hugs to anyone who needs them!

Frozen biscuits usually are tastier once baked.

I have a loaf of frozen bread dough in the thaw/rise process on the counter.

About an hour away from loading a crabby Siamese into her carrier and taking her for a rabies shot so I can get her city license renewed. Yay.

Otherwise blurf.

tarragon918, there exists a thing called chocolate gingerbread? I want some!
