Does anyone remember Comic Strip? I only saw a couple of episodes. One of them was shot in B&W and was set in the early 60s. Ade Edmondson played an enthusiastic groupie whose parents are out of town. He invites his ultra-hip idol (I don’t remember who that was – I think the episode was missing one of The Young Ones cast) and his entourage to the house for a party. The house is trashed, and everyone treats Edmondson like the total wally he portrays.
Mr. Hip (I don’t recall the character’s name) has some dialog that seems to indicate a girl would be more attractive without one of her legs. Eventually the girl (was it Jennifer Saunders?) hops in, having amputated a leg. She says something to the effect of “I’ve cut off my leg for you, now we can be in love.” The hipster says, “You don’t understand. It was the leg I was interested in.”
Another scene shows Rik Mayall sitting in a small bed peeling a banana. As he peels the banana he becomes more intense saying, “Oh, dear! Oh, dear! Oh, dear!”
It’s possible I still have that and one other episode (something about a “rumble”, told in a Micky Spillane style) on VHS, having taped it from whatever station it was showed on oh, so many years ago; but it was lost even before I packed my tapes away. I’ll have to search for it again when I unpack. (Whenever that will be!)
