There is a strange woman attached to my Microsoft account. What do I do?

So I singed up for Skpe yesterday. When I did, it asked me to merge my Microsoft account with my Skype.

I got a little confused when Skye kept insisting on calling me Evelyn. After some poking around, I see this woman, complete with profile picture, (pretty girl BTW) was attached to my MS account.

What the heck is going on here? And why would some stranger want to latch on to my MS account? It seems so bizarre to me.

Ref that Shakes-stalks-the-new-girl-in-the-parking-lot incident we all discussed last month, perhaps karmic payback shall be a bitch?

Is this what sneakbragging has come to?

I don’t know about the rest of you but from now on I’m calling the OP, Evelyn.

I waited all day for this? Gee, thanks guys.

You are welcome, Ev.

That is very weird. Which did you have first the Skype or the MS Account? You can look into your account here to see about removing her:

Oh cool! A plot twist in the creepy Shakes/creeped out girl saga.

What does “attached” mean in this case, exactly? She shows up under “Family” in your M$ account?

I’ve never looked at the account site until today, but if that’s what it is, it looks like it requires a request from one person and a confirmation from the other, so that is odd.

Maybe everyone else knows this, but why would you want or need to “merge your Microsoft account with your Skype account”?

I wonder this too. All I know is I couldn’t get a Skype account with out merging my MS account.

I checked my MS account (Thanks BurnMeUp), nothing seems screwy there, so it must be something Skpe is doing.

I’m still unclear. What “MS account” is it you have to merge?

It’s the account you create whenever you install your Windows OS.

If you have an MS account with, say, the Microsoft store or the old XBox live accounts, they’ll ask you to merge those with your Skype account for streamlining purposes. If you’re the admin of the account, you should contact billing and tell them that your account was merged improperly with someone else’s. It’s a hassle and a headache, but you don’t want some stranger running up charges on your account.

True multiple personality cases are extremely rare, but they do exist. So you and Evelyn have to reach an agreement as to when each of you is permitted to come out. Can I speak to Evelyn now? Evelyn, are you there? Perhaps you need to get your own SDMB account.

If someone with multiple personalities opens multiple accounts on the board, does that count as sock puppetry? Or is that a philosophical question?

The Moderators would have to make a veritable Judgement of Solomon.

Seems like a no brainer to me. Capitalize.

Beheading? That fast?

I seem to have wandered into looking glass land… I have installed hundreds of Win OSes and have no “MS accounts”… I don’t think I’ve ever had any account of any kind with MS despite being a user/admin since DOS 3.0…
