Up, caffeianted, and sheveled. Off to work. Double shift again.
Fell asleep on the couch last night at 10, woke up at 6:30, went up to bed and woke at 8:30. What a slug. Visiting my sister today. We haven’t seen each other since Easter.
I’m only 62, but don’t like being in crowds. I’ve always been that way.
We had a McBreakfast, then did a quick grocery shop. I just finished pushing the mower around a very tall patch of grass and weeds in the back yard. Too hot to do much else.
Chillage shall ensue.
Next week, **FCD **is driving down to Ocala to take his parents to Gatlinburg, then bring them here for a visit. MIL has serious macular degeneration, so she can’t drive and FIL is 89 with all sorts of health issues, so he shouldn’t be driving either. Things are slow in the shop right now and **FCD **wants his folks to see Roxy at least one more time.
I wish they’d move here, but they won’t. Some silliness about not wanting to find new doctors, etc. Plus they’ve got a few friends still in Ocala, tho they’re gradually dying off. Getting old can truly suck mightily.
No, but he did make a mean poutine. ![]()
Up, caffeinating and breakfasted. I will purtify shortly to make a Tar-jay run that I didn’t make yesterday and pick up a gift at the bookstore for a baby shower. Other than the usual Sunday chores, all I have to do is put the craft for the heathen children together for delivery to the other coordinator to take next Sunday when I’m gone.
I picked some goodies from the bulk bin up for Dad when I was at Sprouts yesterday. He’s pretty rural and doesn’t go where some of this stuff is available anymore, so organically (not sulfured) dried fruits that he says taste like they did when he was a kid, unsalted pistachios (that he refuses to pay the per pound price for) and some different cereals. Anything that I take up there pretty much needs to be consumable since he’s trying to pare down his household goods.
Happy Sunday!
Home from the park, we were there for three hours. Ripple had a good time and was more than ready to come home.
Met my first ibezan hound. Very impressive looking dog, but not something I would want. The woman also has a rhodesian ridgeback, very timid dog, and Ripple just wouldn’t leave the poor dog alone. Sometimes Ripple can be a little bit of a bully, although I don’t know if he is trying to bully them or just trying to get them to play. He has to meet and greet every dog that comes into the park, and once he plays with them a bit he is good. Watching him try to play with the ibezan was funny, there is no way he can keep up with her but he runs his little heart out trying.
We had rain all night, and thunder too.
I don’t know what woke me last night, sounded like somebody beating a stick on a post. Ripple started barking and my son came running upstairs to ask if I was okay. We don’t know what the noise was, maybe somebody outside.
Doggio, we can talk next year. As long as Gordie gets along with Ripple he can stay here.
Mom, probably won’t cost much for the repair, I think the hard part will be getting somebody out for a small job. When I lived in Baltimore my house had a tin roof and I could not get anybody out to fix it. Nobody wanted to do residential, only commercial., as residential wasn’t worth their time. I ended up getting it shingled.
Lots to do again today, then again that is everyday.
The back porch and the deck need to be cleaned off. There are garden tools, and bags of rocks, sand, and top soil that need to be put in the shed. Well, except for the rocks, they need to go around the AC unit.
My cable and internet has been out all morning until just now. Stupid Comcast. I shall call tomorrow for a credit on the account.
I took Buddy to the dog park and again there were no other dogs there plus the grass was all wet so we didn’t stay long. I have about two loads of laundry to do and I am going to cook up some veggies and chicken.
Happy Sunday all!
I thought Jack Russells were eighteen pounds or so. A cat could beat the snot out of the only one I’ve seen in person.
A bird flew into the upstairs picture window. I didn’t find a body outside, so I guess he’s okay. MIL (v.3.0) put out birdseed. Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) quit that, because hawks staked out the yard and sometimes bounced their victims off the window.
About a third of the way Thursday my clutch decided to pack it in. I limped home to my dealer and got a loaner. I made it to the fun. But I’m beat and will add more later.
I found out that the noise we heard last night was somebody getting shot down on the corner, and the police were going around beating on doors to see if anybody saw anything.
I think beating on doors at 3 am is not the smartest thing to do.
I moved away from Baltimore to get away from that shit.
I tried irking outside but the blood suckers are too bad.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, had brunch, heard our new organist/choir director play (he’s goooooooooood!), got back to da cave and accomplished nappage. All in all not a bad day so far.
ETA: First on four! A good day made even better!
Baker, I know it’s not my place, but my advice is not to try to make Mom do things she doesn’t want to do. She’ll just resent it and it’ll cause unnecessary friction.
I could tell you stories about the war between my Mom and my Sister-in-law, but I won’t.
We made a big batch of pulled pork yesterday for a pot luch last night, and them the pot luck was cancelled. It looks like we (I) will be eating pulled pork sliders for the next week or so. :dubious:
Wifey and TheGirlChild[sup]TM[/sup] are going over to central Orygun for a couple of days for a painting class this week, so I shall be left to my own devices for at least two evenings. I will prolly try out some new recipes and try to rent the new Hellboy movie from the Box of Red. And eat pulled pork.
I’m getting really sick of the Book of Faces. My feed this morning was full of people talking about guns*, and politicians wanting me to take their ‘survey’** and send them money.
- nothing new there, I belong to a group of liberal gun owners and we talk about guns and gun control a lot.
** the survey is always the same, as in identical. I think it’s something sent down to them from the DNC, and it sucks. It doesn’t really solicit any actual opinions. It just lists all their talking points and asks which ones you agree with. If the republicans weren’t so heinous I wouldn’t vote for either party. I hate politics in this country!
The TeeVee is back but the internet is sporadic so I am using my phone hotspot.
Bumba I am also getting tired of FB and hate what is happening here. My hubby always says we have lived in the best times this world or country will ever know and I agree. Maybe I should have been born a decade sooner.
Raining off and on. I had big plans to cook but ain’t gonna happen. Laundry is still in progress and I am already dreading irk tomorrow. I have a tightness in my chest that feels like the beginnings of bronchitis so depending on how I feel I may hie thee to the Doc first thing. My trigger thumb is worse and now my left shoulder is acting up. I haven’t done a thing to cause these maladies. Getting old sucks.
Sorry to whine.
Early supper was some yummerrific sirloin steak, cauliflower, and 'shrooms-n-onions. The dishwasher is washing, and daughter and SIL are going to pick up their spawn (their word, not mine) from his mother’s. Day is done.
