There will be a blood reckoning, and from the ends of the DC-Metro area, to the ends of whichever state between WV, PA, and NC happens to be farthest away (I’m too far gone in my berserker rage to be sure), there will rise up to the very heavens a great moaning and a knashing of teeth. ‘Who has wrought this blood reckoning upon us?’ they will ask each other… it is I. The Squared Cube. You will all rue the day that I could not attend this party. Rue. The. Day.
I don’t feel like switching browsers to post (B’s logged in on Netscape. We traded because she was tired of IE. In a month or so we’ll trade again), so I guess I’ll add one to B’s post count.
We are in. I don’t care if I have to crawl backward with B and half of WVA on my back, we’re in. Two dopefests in two months … gosh, I’m almost up to my pre-move average of one a month. I’d been sitting at, like, 28 fests (or something. I ran out of toes to count with, so I stopped trying), since last November. I think Weirddave has retaken my position in line for “Person Who’s Attended the Most Dopefests”.
We may even bring my maternal unit (B’s would … possibly feel ever-so-slightly out of place?;)) and my brother, as long as he promises no repeat performance of whatever it was he and Lucretian3 were doing last time. Those of you who remember him, btw, may be surprised to learn that he has an underactive thyroid. He’s not tired much at all, he’s not grossly underweight, etc. I don’t want to imagine how hyper he’d be if his thyroid were properly active.
Now to shout at moi and tdc to see if they can be persuaded to join.
This is already on the Bluesclan’s calender. I’m really glad to see so many people are coming, given that this will probably be our last major MAD Dopefest.
(And yes, JC, I know you don’t consider it a Dopefest ;))
Well, the BossUnit says I can have that weekend off, so looks like moi and I are in. Can’t wait, the last time was a blast. I may have to dig out my copy of Operation.

I’m very tempted. But that’s the weekend RIGHT before nationals, and we may have some last-chance practices and a team meeting.
Tark is going to be going to Field Day (ham radio stuff) that weekend, so I will probably throw all three of my kids (GAAAAAAAAAH) into the car and head your way. Might convince a friend or two to come along, if that’s all right.
We couldn’t make it last year because we had been sick. I don’t know if both of us will be there but if I am I could bring a couple of my games along. Maybe we could get a game of Road Kill going, I’ve never had a chance to play but it should be fun. It’s sort of a combination of Car Wars and Mille Bournes. I also have a few board games like Life and Trivial Pursuit. I have the '80s and TV cards for Trival Pursuit but I need to get a new board.
I just remembered, I got a collectors’ edition of Clue last Christmas!
There’s a very small Chance* that I’ll be unemployed and able to come. Minute, really, but worth mentioning. Are Ohioans invited as well?

JC, your parties are indeed the stuff of legend and lore. Despite my pathetic showing (especially of late) at Dopefests official and un- I STILL know that functions at chez Chance are not to be underestimated. I’ll be there with bells on!
AAU Tae kwon do national championship, which is the first week of July in Knoxville, TN.
I have a good shot at winning the forms competition. My sparring needs work.
Keep Verrain and I in the reserve list for this one. This is the weekend his family usually heads to the Shore, but we won’t be able to go with them because my mother’s birthday/work will be cutting into it. We aren’t sure what the vehicle situation will be then.
I’ll keep you posted as we know more.
What level/age are you? I haven’t sparred competitively in a few years, but when I was in practice I was pfg (pretty darned good). If it’s the sort of thing ruled on non-contact (i.e. "he came “this close” to hitting, and would have if it were legal), I’d love to give you some practice as long as you’re not A) much bigger than me; B) much smaller than me; C) much higher level; D) much lower level. If it’s ruled on actual contact, then unless you have an extra set of pads I’ll have to bow out:) “Get the married men out of the infield” and all that.
Could be entertaining, though. JC, ever had staged fighting at your place? Two man enter. One man win.
Just with swords. We leave the firearms out of it.
