There's going to be a Powerpuff Girls movie!

Go to the PPG’s homepage and click on the box labelled “PPG-801”. You’ll need Flash to look at the window that will appear. There are storyboards and a behind-the-scenes RealVideo clip. Make the Girls fly by moving your cursor around. The movie is scheduled for release in theaters in Summer 2002.

It looks like fun!

O.K., this is excellent!! I love the PPGs. My favorite episode was the one with the rowdy rough boys, where Mojo Jojo adds snips and snails and puppy dogs tails to a prison toilet, which must contain chemical X, and they’re born. Then to defeat them, the girls are nice and the boys implode. Heee heee heee!

But they’re all good! I think about them and giggle all day . . .

I love them!!!

I heard about it awhile ago, I can’t wait. Let’s hope that the director is actually nice to them, not a la Film Flam where they were used and abused. Ah! This is wonderful. Do you think all the enemies from the TV show will be there too, or just Mojo? If they don’t put Him in, I will truly be sore.

I totally am a fan. I have the B-cup doll, the soundtrack (Heroes and Villains), two videos, and my computer desktop looks like them. I can’t wait.

You can’t hurt me with the things that you do; I’ll pick a dandelion and I’ll give it to you…
love love love…love love love…makes the world go round.

Those cute lil’ Puffs! You gotta love 'em- they’re one of the funniest and best-written cartoon shows on TV today.

Not much is really known about the movie- C. McC. is keeping it really hush-hush- though he has told us that the movie will tell us a bit more about the origin of the Powerpuff Girls and why Professor Utonium created them in the first place.

I thought it was because Mojo sent them back in time, and then they saved the Professor (as a kid). In the future, he realized he had to create the perfect little girls that he remembered from his childhood, and thus they were born. It was in the season finale. Is there more to that?

I almost forgot- our Puffy friends are in trouble of losing their voices! Money-hungry Cartoon Network may recast the entire show as a cost-cutting manuver for the upcoming episodes and the movie. Only three voice actors have settled with CN and will appear in the movie so far: Cathy Cavadini (Blossom), Liz Daily (Buttercup), and Tara Strong (Bubbles). Craig himself doesn’t like this recasting idea one bit! Let’s hope Roger Jackson (Mojo Jojo et al), Tom Kenny (Narrator, Mayor et al), Tom Kane (Talking Dog, Him et al) and the rest aren’t replaced!

All right, I’m really pathetic, I know, but I am really chagrined. They are NOT going to make new voices. Can you really imagine someone else being Mojo Jojo? Or Him? Or the mayor, or Miss Bellum? It’s like saying that Moe and Apu and Hans Moleman can be replaced! Damnit.

(Corona Coming Attractions is your friend. :))

Here’s a review of the series as it appeared last November in the LAWeekly. The upcoming movie was mentioned. (I must have forgotten this.)

Here is a review from the same paper by the same writer for the beautiful new series Samurai Jack. There is a big connection between the two series: Genndy Tartakovsky. The pilot movie for Jack featured the descendents of the PPG’s Talking Dog.

Buttercup! Buttercup! BUTTERCUP!

I can’t wait. I hope it has Him in it.

and evil broccoloids from outer space

Tartakovsky and McCracken also worked together on Dexter’s Lab. Both Dexter and PPG feature a fictional show called “TV Puppet Pals.”

Yeah, and don’t forget, they both feature Cousie. Or…Cousalagousala…you get the picture. In the Make Believe episode, we see Bubbles imagining Cousie. And of course, we all know how much Didi loves him.

That big Dom DeLuisey thing?

Serious, if you really must know, it’s Koosalagoopagoop, or Koosy for short.

Man, you know more about cartoons than me, mobo!

I love those little girls. Man, I wonder what this movie will be like. Do you think the girls will get a mom, a la the rugrats? I sure as hell hope not. (I’m still freaked out about that Sedusa thing.)

I don’t think they’ll get a mom. But, maybe they’ll lose their super powers temporarily and just be regular little girls. I don’t know though. The writers are really good at turning all of the cliches upside down–and wackiness ensues. [sub]and maybe there will be pictures of bunnies? BUNNIES!!![/sub]

But no Bunny I hope? I hated “the fourth powerpuff girl.” Sorry, she was sort of nice the first time but scary as hell, too.

Anyone else proud of the girls for that Emmy nomination?

All I have to say is there had damn well better be a “Dial M for Monkey” short in it, or I ain’t going!

Much as I love the show, can a 90-minute (or however long) film of it really work? The best shows have been the ‘theme’ ones, and I can’t see them stretching those out too long.
