Good morning! I’m celebrating the last of my 50s in the office. I’m glad to have work to do again, but it’s freekin’ cold out and I had a night of weird dreams, so I’m not very well rested. Oh well…

My mom and MIL both sent me checks - I don’t know why that cracks me up. Probably because it seems silly at my age, but they shall go to good use, since I need to replace the window coverings in the kitchen. So yay for new blinds and curtains! 
And now, back to work. Two days of slacking off and all of a sudden, I’m in demand!

I’m bored with this snow stuff now, will somebody please take it away? I dug a path from the front door to the gates, and then dug all the snow out from around the gates so I could get them open and thus get the car out…and then it snowed another couple of inches all over my good work.
Of course, I hadn’t got the snow off the car at that point so now it’s resembling a large snowdrift outside the house. That may be tonight’s job, along with clearing the path again, in case I venture out to the supermarket tomorrow. Don’t tell Shadow, but we’re down to our last four cans of tuna!

It’s close to minus 40 degrees* with the wind chill today. I know I’m supposed to go to class, but at this temperature, exposed flesh freezes instantly and my lungs will act up. PLus it’s a 20-minute walk to the bus (probably more if I have to slowly tramp my way over the ice.) So I’m staying inside today.
*Minus 40 is the same in Celsius and Fahrenheit. Yikes.

Today is definitly Wednesday. I checked before I came in.
Zumba tonight again - I am finally started to remember some of the routines and changes etc so while I still look foolish I don’t feel so foolish looking 
Other than that fairly quiet here. I did talk to a head hunter yesterday who has a couple of leads for me so I need to polish my resume up and get that sent.
My U-verse crapped out the last two days, so:

Crap it’s cold out…
I just got an e-mail from my aunt in Indiana. Cousin Scott, who was last given 7 days to live, has now passed 8 days, and is still somewhat mobile and making attempts to eat.
That SOB is from my mother’s side of the family, and he’s being as stubborn about checking out as she was. For that matter, also just like his dad, my mom’s older brother. Has to be a family genetic trait…
Way to go, Scott. Kick the Grim Reaper square in the balls.

Home and thawing. We took Higgs for a little walk, and even with gloves, my fingers froze!! I got emails from my sibs (all younger) pointing out how close I am to 60 - same messages I’ve gotten each decade! I’m related to a buncha smartasses!
My baby girl got scammed! Well, she was targeted, but she figured it out really quick.
She sells Mary Kay, and she’s got a website thru the company. A couple of weeks ago, she got an email from a woman who wanted to order a bunch of stuff - she said she was deaf and she didn’t like the way the other reps in the area were treating her. My daughter was surprised, since she knows most of the local reps and she couldn’t imagine them being less than professional.
Well, she got an email saying “I sent you a check but it’s for more than the amount of the sale. Please deposit it right away and send the balance to my daughter - she’s getting married and she needs the money.” Yeah. :dubious: The check arrived - let’s summarize:

She’s been in touch with her area director about how to report the scam, and they’re letting everyone know that this has happened. And my daughter is all excited at the prospect of nailing a scamster, altho I supposed that most of the info is bogus. But who knows - the scammer may be stupid enough to have left tracks. We shall see…
What’s for birthday dinner you ask? Leftovers. I don’t feel like cooking and it’s too cold to venture out. And I’m pissed off at PapaJohn for whining about providing health insurance for his employees while giving away a million pizzas. He’s not getting any more of my money, and no one else delivers here. No biggie - I’m hoping we can go some place nice this weekend.
