Last time I looked at my favorite weather site last night, it said we might get an inch of snow. Lying bastards!! We got between 2 and 3 at the house, near as I can figure, and it looks like more farther south. Our drive in took almost an hour - normally it’s 35 minutes with a stop to grab breakfast.
And if the weather isn’t enough, I started my day by falling! Our clock radio is on the chest of drawers near the foot of the bed on my side - so we can both see it and so I don’t turn it off in my sleep. When it went off this morning, I grabbed the remote, turned on the TV, then got up to turn off the radio. I must have stood up too fast because next thing I know, I’m on the floor, the radio is on the floor, and the lamp and phone on my night stand are knocked over, and poor **FCD **can’t figure out what the heck is wrong! No blood, no broken bones, but I figure I’ll have a least 3 bruises - one on my left hip, one on my left arm, and one on the right side of my back. Heck of a way to start the day…
My daughter is happy - she doesn’t have school today. I’m happy too - she was supposed to take my car today. Higgs seemed to enjoy the snow when we let her out, but she was pretty quick to come back in also, which was good.
That’s all I’ve got for now. I need me some tylenol - the aches are starting…
I measured 4" on the rail around the deck at the VunderLair. For the rest of y’all, my house is about a mile annahaff from the place where Mooooooooom goes to irk.
Cheer up, we get more tonight. In typical Merrylande fashion, the long range forecast for next Humpday shows thunderstorms and 60 Amurrkin. That’s my kind of winter weather.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated and at irk. I met OYKW for brekkie at MickeyD’s bein’ as we are ever the gourmands. He is on his way to large and in charge Macon, Jawja for a meetin’ today and tomorrow so I am without any form of adult supervision until tomorrow evenin’. Maybe I’ll put my feet on the furniture and not use a coaster for my drinks.
MOOOOOOM yikes! Glad there’s no blood or broken bones. Guess that’s what turnin’ 59 does to ya.
'Tis a kinda nice 46 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of mid 60s out. Nice. No snow in sight either.
Midget I’m with the that’s messed up crowd. Here’s hopin’ the visit is mostly a good one.
Sahi, I own boots. Just sayin’ Moommm (& others) - dinner somewhere near I-95ish Sat night? If there no new counters to be seen, I’d rather shorten my drive a bit; keep it to less than 12 of 36 hrs. Bonus points it you pick a newly-refurbished diner so we can see their new counters.
Din’t make it here yesterday, so happy being older, good lucks & aw, shucks being tossed about like Frisbees as needed.
Awoke to sea ice and 4 degree temps this morning. Alas, the dungeon is 54 cold degrees, I have the electric space heater blowing at my feet, but still need gloves.
Not going above freezing till Monday. Local FD and plumbers are busy.
Where is my Global Warming? They promised me Global Warming…
Geez, I wish some of that cold would come down here. 5 days of the upcoming week are to be in the 70s. Trees are budding up in January.
I joined the neighborhood Landscape committee and today’s the first meeting. Judging by the emails there’s a lot more to it than planning new plantings; there’s budgets, contracts, overseeing contractors, removals, prunings, disease control, irrigation, drought monitoring, presentations to the board, newsletters, etc. Who knew? Should be fun though.
I’m at school now and it’s before class is going to start.
It’s only half a kilometre to the bus (not my usual bus - I was taking a different bus that minimized the time I was required to spend outside), but it was so cold that I was almost crying. My face almost completely froze over. I don’t usually complain about the weather, but this was just miserable.
I think foot in mouth disease is congenital among TV personalities.
Guy on TV is talking about the local sled hockey team and how the players want to put their best foot forward. Uhh… Some of the players don’t have feet. :smack:
This weather is playing hell with plants. We’ve gone from 75 and sunny to hard freeze in a week’s time, and the neighbor’s flowers that sprouted and bloomed recently are now frozen and dead.
Anyone know what sort of amnesty the IRS has on piddly little things like a $9.54 dividend? Will they rain toads on me if I ignore it, or do I need to pay many times that amount to buy tax software in order to file all the extra schedules and forms vs the free 1040EZ form that I can otherwise fill out by hand?
Concurring with **BBBobbio **- Fredburg would work for me - what time do you think you’d be in that general area? There are a ton of restaurants at exit 130 - that’s Rt 3. Trying to think of local places vice chains, but I haven’t lived there since 2000 and a restaurant is a restaurant… Ideas?? Body count??
Well, if it’s a vice chain then I’m sure Spidey is all up for it.
I has a grrrrrrr. I went through the mountain of paperirk needed to get someone enrolled and had a nice kinda cushy trainin’ site lined up even. So today I call her to set a time to get started with trainin’ and she says she’s decided she does not want it. This couldn’t have been said before I spent all that time settin’ stuff up?
It all pays the same. It all pays the same. It all pays the same. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
::wags finger:: if you keep making that face, it’ll freeze that way. Mooommm, my preference is to stay away from any restaurants with body counts. Otherwise that area works.
Swampy, your vice stores are chains down there? We just have small mom & peep shops.
Finished my am irk shift.
The phones are slow today, except when I try to post here then it rings.
“Tish that’s French!” ::hoping for the hug because I am freezing over here::
I’m thinking I need thick velvet curtains to cover the entire exterior wall of my room.
I’m still waiting for Special1to tell the knock-knock joke and Spideydoes wear boots.
I could be up for dinner depending on where. I have to watch piddle pup this weekend, so I have to stay close to home.
Waiting for sah-kid to get home, he was supposed to get out 2 hours early but since they went in 2 hours late now he is getting out the regular time. We need to make a short run to the store. I wish he’d get his damn license so I don’t have to go out. Probably why he doesn’t want to get his license, he knows he’ll have to do all the running around.
Off to find some N.O.L., probably soup out of a can.
[QUOTE=Spiderman;15932778Mooommm, my preference is to stay away from any restaurants with body counts. Otherwise that area works.[/QUOTE]
No body counts - check. Now, once again, WHAT TIME???
I asked **FCD **- not sure if he wants to attend or not. He thinks he’ll have to work on Sat and he may not want to go anywhere after. So whether he shows or not is up in the air.
**Sari **- it’d be great if you could make it, but Fredericksburg is a bit of a drive for you - I bet close to 2 hours. And I can’t think of any place on the east side of DC off the beltway, but I don’t know that area too well except to drive by. Too bad 95 isn’t closer to Annapolis - I know places around there.
