These actors are not siblings, no matter what I think.

In the Mad About You thread, I mention that I thought Leelee Sobieski and Helen Hunt were sisters in real life. Until I found out Leelee’s name. Then I realized, probably not sisters.

For a very long time I thought Giovanni Ribisi and Billy Joe Armstrong were brothers. This was very dumb of me because I knew their names. Hey, people in show business change their names all the time!

My husband thought Danny Trejo and director Robert Rodriquez were brothers. I thought he was being casually racists-- just because they’re both Mexican and Trejo is in almost all of Rodrequez’s movies doesn’t make them brothers. Turns out, hubby was a little bit right. They are second cousins.

What’s weird? I would never have taken Julia and Eric Roberts as siblings and there they were with the same last name and everything.

I used to think Steve Valentine was Richard E. Grant.

To this day, if you show me a picture of Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds, I wouldn’t be able to tell you which Ryan it is.

I saw Love & Mercy this weekend (excellent movie, btw), and was very surprised to see Philip Seymour Hoffman, since I thought he had died of a drug overdose last year. Then I realized it was that other exceptionally talented paunchy, bearded, eyeglass-wearing actor, Paul Giamatti.

Cathleen and Mary Margaret O’Hara are *not *Maureen O’Hara’s daughters.

Not a sibling mix up, but I thought Skeet Ukrich in As Good as it Gets was Johnny Depp and I couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t in the credits :smack:

I also did not know for a few years that Eric and Julia Roberts are brother and sister but know that I know, all I can see is the other one when I look at either.

Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg look so much like siblings it was kinda creepy watching them play a couple in the trailer for American Ultra.

To me, Elizabeth Rohme and Julia Stiles are the same person

Eisenberg and Michael Cera are often hard to tell apart.

I thought the guy that played the Comedian in Watchmen was Javier Bardem.

Much, much worse. I thought Rorschach was Danny Bonaduce.

This is on me, but I get Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley confused all the time. The eyes, maybe?

I would lay money Sobieski’s similar looks were the reason her agent got any calls.

That’s one example where the resemblance is “official”.

Natalie Portman had been cast as Amidala in The Phantom Menace. The script said that she had a decoy bodyguard named Sabe. Knightley, who was a virtual unknown, was cast as Sabe because she looked like Portman.

Rachel McAdams and Elizabeth Banks - or is it Elizabeth Banks and Rachel McAdams?

Really? But Gosling is a dreamboat, Reynolds is more annoying but I’m warming to him. They’re both Canadian, and all those people look the same.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Yes, absolutely.

Sam Rockwell and Dax Shepard, maybe Dane Cook and Reynolds are cousins or something.

Liam Cunningham and Jean Reno.

Only their hairdresser knows for sure.

Katheryn Winnick from Vikings and Annet Mahendru from The Americans have the same face. Currently one’s a blonde and one’s a brunette and they play wildly different characters on their respective shows, but they look alike. They should be cast as sisters some day.

For years, YEARS!, after Phantom Menace came out, I was confused by that whole double thing. I thought Amidala dressed down to pass as a peasant but then later dialogue about them being a double confused me. Is she talking to a CG clone of herself? What’s going on?

Furthermore I think I read that on the set even their own families couldn’t tell them apart.

Dave Foley and Isabella Rossellini are not brother and sister.
