"These white supremacists make some good points." -The_Other_Waldo_Pepper

Right. His completely sensible position can be summed up with just fourteen words.

“We must secure the existence of our own and a future for our children.”

Nothing white supremacist there. Nothing at all.

I’m so saving this one for frequent reuse in the future. :trophy:

[channeling Waldo]
I can’t disagree with that. I too want to exist and have a future for my children. Sure I don’t approve of the whole antisemitism thing, but given a choice between that and the alternative who wants me not to exist or my children to have no future, I’d probably vote for the former.

Thanks, that’s nice of you to say (and in the Pit, no less).

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 88 times.

I’m waiting for the mega thread where someone proves the 14 words aren’t racist by citing every 14 word sentence in the English language that’s not racist.

Waldo’s style would be to argue that 12 of the 14 words are not racist and actually pretty sensible.

The phrase “at least Mussolini made the trains run on time” is usually meant as a joke because clearly that’s grasping for a compliment from someone that history paints as a vicious dictator. It’s not intended to be a sincere statement by anyone because it’s absolutely ridiculous (hence why it’s a joke). However, TOWP will say such things with sincerity, which is absurd.

By the way, Mussolini really didn’t help with the choo-choos.

It’s not that I like fascism, I just don’t like my trains to be late. When I vote, I’ll take that into account.

Heck, his sealioning goes for ages. Like him claiming with no end that I was never not giving him any data that would falsify an item (it is not science if you can’t falsify it!)

Like when satellites that did and continue to measure less heat escaping from earth to space at the precise wavelengths which CO2 absorbs, it did not matter that he was told that the nanosecond it was detected that there was more heat escaping, or that the data could be checked to see if it was wrong, or if the system was now found to be in balance (no more or less heat escaping) that that would cause the basic climate change theories to fail.

Indeed, no need to get a slide rule to figure out how to falsify that, and I even cited experts that knew how to falsify that… and failed already in those attempts.

For some reason the falsification he demanded required to be tailor-made by me to him, what other experts did when attempting to falsify that already be dammed.

So he’s a climate change denier as well as a xenophobe?

Have to admit I didn’t know that, but it doesn’t surprise me in the least.

You know it occurs to me that a lot of people (myself included) have expressed some surprise at his behavior of late, because we didn’t know the totality of his beliefs and his rhetorical tactics he will use in discussions. He never stood out to most of us as someone generally objectionable. Is it possible that we’ve confused him with The Original Waldo Pepper?

I was foolish enough to join in with @GIGObuster for many of those conversations and it was not the most fun I’ve ever had on the boards. With that said, I’ll give a huge shout-out to GIGO, @jshore, @Lamar_Mundane, and many others for putting up with TOWP, brazil84, and friends, and being what makes this place great.

Nope. This is the guy.

The Grating Waldo Pepper.

I probably should have demonstrated with a link, but here is a good example of the type of sea-lioning that @GIGObuster was dealing with back in the day.

I’m not going to look it up, but I remember his very annoying, “Is next year going to be warmer than 1998? How about the year after that? The next?” and on and on.

He stopped doing that now that most (all?) of the top ten warmest years are warmer than 1998.

My other favorite part of that thread was Magiver’s post where he cited a Forbes opinion piece that was also cherry-picking the 98 El Nino event to prove some point about cooling. Clicking on the link today returns:

After review, this post has been removed for failing to meet our editorial standards.

Yeah that thread is a headache.

@GIGObuster sure put up with a lot.
