They think my cousin was murdered

Two weeks ago my cousin found her 19 yr.old son dead on the couch. They thought it was a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head at first, but after the forensics team got done, they found that the trajectory of the bullet was not that of someone shooting themself. Also, he had no powder residue on his hands.
So now they think it was murder.

There’s no word on any other evidence. Prints on the gun, or that type of thing. I do know that he hung out with a pretty wild crowd and that he was into drugs. Something may have gone wrong somewhere. Hopefully, they’ve got some leads, I don’t know.

The thing that worries me is that it’s a very rural area. The police there aren’t used to dealing with this kind of thing. I just hope and pray they don’t screw it up. Hopefully, the state police will get involved.

I want the scumbag who did this to pay. Sure, he was a kid with problems, (which is why they thought it was suicide at first) but he didn’t deserve this. I can remember him being born, I still have a hard time dealing with the fact that he’s gone.

I’m so sorry Lady Ice :frowning: I hope they find out who did this. Please keep us up to date.

good heavens. i’m so sorry.

i hope the police are able to solve this.

Sorry Lady Ice. We’re here for you if you need us.

I’m sorry for your family’s loss, Lady Ice. Like ShibbOleth said, we’re here if you need us.

I’m sorry for your troubles. I hope they can solve this. I will light a candle for you and your family.

Several years ago my 18(?)-year-old cousin was found dead in a car with two other young men and at least one gun. He had gotten involved in a gang, and I think they’re still not sure exactly what happened – whether it was a suicide pact, murder-suicide, or a triple murder. The three boys may have been involved in another previous murder as well. My cousin had been estranged from his family for several years, in and out of juvie, etc.

I still remember him as the smiling Campbell’s-kid-faced little boy in the family photos, the one who one Christmas gave each family an ornament he’d made – several cinnamon sticks tied with a red ribbon. I still grieve for that little boy every year when I hang his cinnamon on the tree.

My condolences, Lady Ice.

My sincerest condolences for your loss and that of your family.

Thanks for the support. I was home alone yesterday when my mom gave me the news. I just needed someone to tell. I knew you guys would be here for me.

I’ll keep you updated on what’s going on as soon as I can.

Again, thanks.

So sorry to hear that and my thoughts are with you and your family Lady Ice. :frowning:

Take care.

I’m a little surprised that it took two weeks to arrive at that assumption.

Had it been DNA tests or perhaps micro-fibre evidence then yes two weeks or more is realistic.

Had it been a requirement for more toxicology tests, or pathogen tests, again I would not be surprised.

IBut for what should be straightforward autopsy this is pretty shocking to me.

I’m sorry to read this, and I hope the police in your area get the perps, but their task must be all the harder now with the time lapse.

Casdave-

It’s a very rural area. Even the county’s resources are quite limited. In fact, I’m suprised they even came to this conclusion. In most cases, they probably would have just thought suicide, and let it go at that. They must have thought something was up for them to even take the time to make sure. This (as far as I know) is the first murder in this town, and as far as the county, only the second since I’ve grown up there. They are just not used to dealing with this kind of thing.

Also, I hadn’t talked to my mother in almost a week, so they could have come up with this conclusion earlier than in the last couple of days. You’re right though, if they took to long to come to this conclusion, they could have a hard time finding the perp.

I’m dealing with his death. But the fact that someone did this to him and why is just driving me nuts.
