Things I learned about Canada, eh? (MMP)

swampy is a big ole poopyhead!! <snerk>

What the hell is tanzanite? If you’re thinking this question should go over into the Weekly Comic Book discussion thread, you’d be wrong. That’s the gem stone in question. Probably not available in this part of the world, knowing my luck.

rigs we had the HD people handle the installation of our hardwood floor. Your guy Bob sounds like our guy Joe. Only Joe didn’t have anyone competent like Athena to cover for him. The result was our monkeys with power tools installation story that I told in here awhile back.

All you DC’ers have fun next week. I’m jealous, because I don’t get sent anywhere for work. And my mom, who is retired, got rehired as an independent contractor for the company she retired from two months ago. She’s up in Niagara Fall this week and next getting all the paperwork and procedure ready for a building that’s opening up there to house senior citizens (unassisted living). She’s retired and now she’s traveling for work more than I do. And that makes me a sad Panda.

The GF and I are going down to see Tim Silva at a builder’s association show tonight after work. So I got that going for me.

Have a good weekend, y’all.

We bond so nicely in the MMP. Shared bird poop stories. Just makes ya feel all warm and tingly don’t it?

Bumba that recipe does sound nummy. You shared that in the magic cookbook, right? I woulda commented earlier but I was still bird poop traumatized.

Hmmm… I wonder if the google bots would pick up on bird poop if we said it enough.
Bird Poop

Tanzanite seems to be new big gemstone. My moms wears a lot of it (she sells jewelry for Weisfields). Tanzanite actually comes from Zoizite or something like that. It ranges in color from light blue to a purplish blue. That’s all I know about it.

I think it would be cool to meet Tom Silva. He was always my favorite on “This Old House”.

Bumba, the recipe does indeed sound tasty. What is this “magic” cookbook Swampy is referring to?

She sounds gorgeous[sub]of course she must get that from her mother[/sub]. I have a thing for green eyes. :o And you’re right, she would definitely be paired better with a physicist-in-training.

Here is my list now:

clean bathroom-at least one, to show I made an effort
[del]vacuum downstairs[/del]
[del]water annuals[/del]
plant deck pots(start, don’t have all the flowers yet)
organize the mail, since the dining room table in now being used for kitchen shit
[del]iron uniforms for weekend[/del]
[del]clean fish tank[/del]
take a nap (priority)
[del]make dinner[/del] found Gino’s East Frozen Pizza in freezer. Ha!
[del]call plasterer #2 back and book a time[/del] sort of
The walls in question are outside walls and my husband fears that another rain storm without roof repair would just ruin the new plaster.

I called the roofer [del]names[/del] (I like the delete thingy-new skill for me!) just now. He is on for Monday. Called plasterer #2 and he will call back with a date.

Yay!

Also watered and paid some bills. Still no word from grad school. I will call Monday, if I haven’t heard. Tuesday is #2 son’s Bday-he’ll be 8! 8 is a cool age.

I also made pan cookies, so am feeling righteous.

Zanzinite? What color is it? Never hoid of it!

You have to go over to Skip’s Magic Board for the magic cookbook. I’d link but I think that’s a no no even if ol’ Skip is a mod over here. Baker who posts here and over there is compiling it. You have to be a magic minion to get one though.

Oh, I see. I’m only a magic mushroom, so I guess there’ll be no magic cookbook for me…snif…snif :frowning:

Rigs, you *watered * your bills?! Man, I know we don’t like paying them, but wow, you must really hate your creditors.

Also, it TANZANITE, not ZANZANITE. It’s usually anywhere from a light blue to a deep purplish blue.
Ooops, gotta run. Be back later.

Did I know she was at UCF?? We shoulda got her and my kid together, although my baby is a mere rising junior. Your daughter has got to be a better class of friend than she hung with during her freshman year.

Although she has gotten in with what I think is a nicer crowd. She joined a fraternity (it’s all girls - dunno why it’s called a fraternity) - it’s a music-based organization and she seems to be having a ball with it. Last weekend, they had a formal dance to celebrate the 7 new members.

TGIF!

No ceramics class tomorrow - Tina had a prior commitment, so I get a day off. I see a run to the dump plus a lot of stick-picking-upping in my tomorrow. Unless I convince FCD that we should go visit my mom… No, wait - we can’t - his car is getting an oil change tomorrow. Maybe Sunday??

That seems a reasonable suggestion - I haven’t been to Crystal City in at least a quarter of a century! Seriously, last time I went was when I was in the Navy, stationed at the Pentagon - 1980-81-ish…

It’ll add to the adventure of crossing the Wilson Bridge… :dubious:

Crystal City sounds good to me. I’ve heard about it.

I’ll have to look and see how to get there from where I’m staying.

Four and a half more hours and then I can go home. Not that I’m counting the minutes or anything…

FCM and Taters, good news. I’d suggest me meet in front of Ruth’s Chris so that we can look at the menu in horror and find a reasonable place to eat. Pick a time, any time.

Oh, so we have punctuation Nazi’s here, aye? Huh.

I’d like to water some of my bills–pee on them more like (no, I did not just say that!). But I really watered the annuals outside.

Just got a call from school–AGAIN. #2 son has a 100.5. Poor kid. He does have a runny nose and cough (he did not have those when he went to school), so I think whatever was brewing has done brewed.

Bus Type Guy -are we on for a rendevouz? Lemme know.
The DC Dopefestivus sounds fun. We want pics, everyone!

What about a chemist in training? Would that be OK for her?

Crap. It’s a her…

Speaking of which, I’ve been having woman troubles recently. The QSA does biweekly visibility events where we stand out on a street corner with signs to keep queer issues active in the public’s mind and to desensitize them to gay issues/people, etc. Well, at the last one, this crazy girl that goes to the other college in the city came up to me and let me know that she wished that I was straight, because she sho’ would like to hook up wit me!

Nothing happened until last night, when she came through my line at WM, right in front of one of my gay friends from her same school. She continued to go on and on about how I’m sooooo fine and she wants me to taste her chocolate and that she was going to continue to ask other friend for my number in case I ever want to get my swirl on, and how she now knows where I work and she’s going to continue to stalk me and… etc.

I’d say she’s pretty desensitized. Good Job!

I think so. My niece is also enrolled there and she’s probably closer in age to The Perfect Child[sup]TM[/sup]. She’s in a sorority and some other organizations and is also gorgeous, rifty, being a tall brown-eyed natural blond. (Why, yes, good looks do run in the family.) Mine just turned 25. She took a minor detour (brains fell out) her freshman year at another hoity-toity school and had to work back up.

bonkeydear, that is just awful. Should I send the The Princess to whup her danged ass? Did I forget to say she’s very athletic, too. Once when she was in middle school a bigger boy kept pulling her hair so she turned around and socked him. Knocked his contacts right out of his head.

chaoticbear --she sounds horrible. Pushy and crass and trashy. Ugh.
I know I would hate if someone came up and did that to me, no matter their sexual orientation. Tell her to _______ off. Blech.
#2 son is home and asleep on the couch. He hasn’t napped since he was 2. I gave him some non-aspirin fever stuff when we got home.
I am actively avoiding cleaning the bathroom. So there.

Yeah, that sounds very desensitized. Yikes. Well, you should be flattered that you’ve got your very own stalker.
I have returned from downtown. I went to the St. Lawrence Market for stewing lamb and duck fat, and left with Greek yogurt, duck and goose fat, and beer nuts. I almost bought foie gras, too, because I just had it for the first time ever on Valentine’s Day, and I was hanging around the counter where it was drooling. I resisted, though.

I have also bought a slip that I’m going to turn into something like bike shorts to wear under my shortish new dresses. I have decided to wear a lot of skirts and dresses this summer, because I just went through my clothes and realsed that I have a stupid number of both. So I should use them.

Time for chores, but I’m tired. It was a lot of walking.

I have been laughing about this for five minutes. Cow-orkers are beginning to stare. I don’t know how or why, but that went straight to my funnybone. Thanks, welby!

…wait… this has to be a figure of speech? That’s not possible, is it?

I’ve never heard of her before, but after looking at her website it sure looks like my kinda show. Unfortunately, after spending 20 minutes on the Oregon Public Broadcasting site trying to find out if it can be seen (heard?) around here, Damned if I know. It seems to only be available in hi-def. And I’m a lo-def kinda guy.

Yes, I did post that recipe to Baker’s cookbook thread. If anybody does try it, please, start out slow on the spices and work up to your personal comfort level. I really don’t know if I put in a whole tablespoon of Old Bay, for instance. I just dump some in and taste, then dump in some more, and so on.

Swampy, I empathize with you on being a big old poopyhead. Been there, done that. And Taters is right, seagulls are evil flying rats.

So you’ve got your own stalker now CB? You’re coming up in the world! I hope there’s enough room in Swampy’s bushes for everybody.
