As a Torontonian born and bred, I approve of this MMP. seal of approval
It’s gorgeous up here today, incidentally, all sunshine and wind. I’m definitely going out later.

Cool pictures welby.
And Kythereia, we’ll have no talk of “nice” weather while the best we’ll see here today is 59 and cloudy. Stop it now.
Yup. Beautiful weather today, innit, Kythereia?
The pictures turned out beautifully. The ones of you fighting on Bloor are a hoot. Awesome.
So, welby, just how does one drink a cold frothy one whilst wearing a helmet?
Cool socks, li-li!
One tips the helmet back and drinks quickly so that one can continue intimidating people.
With a straw perhaps? welby’s resourceful, he’d figure out a way. Cool pics! I want more! I’m greedy.
I’ve been working on finding jobs for people this morning. See, we do this big summer program for school kiddies who are old enough to go to work. We call it “Summer Work Experience”. We’re not so much creative with program titles as we are pragmatic. Wallyworld for all the complaints everybody has about it has been very cooperative. Target, not so much. Lots of other places have been though, so it’s getting to be good.
I’m also gettin’ hungry. What do I want to eat. I shoulda brought a turkey sammich for lunch but I didn’t. Must go feed.
I have a friend who moved to Canada. She’s Canadian so that works for her I guess. Not Toronto though, Vancouver. She doesn’t say eh either.
She and my husband had a falling out years ago and he refuses to say her name outloud. He refers to her as “nameless” so I know who he’s talking about. But if he’s replaced her given name with “nameless” hasn’t he effectively renamed her so that she is no longer in fact “nameless”. It gets really confusing if I think about it. She and I are still friends but he’s still got a bit of a grudge.
Some day I really want to see Niagra falls. And visit Canada.
Glad you had a nice trip welby can’t wait to see the pics.
Oddly enough, the first rule of Darkon is. . . . you don’t talk about Darkon. At least I don’t. If you tell people you’re a LARPer they tend to give you funny looks and remember appointments elsewhere. If you tell them you hit people as a hobby, they get more interested. Weirdos.
That is, of course, reached via the Carlton streetcar. You know, the one that is known as the “Carlton car,” even though it spends most of its time on College Street, Gerrard Street, Main Street, Parliament Street; and only travels a few blocks on Carlton. No wonder they get trapped on the Carlton car.
I’ll just add the little secret I remember from my many years of living in Toronto and riding the buses and subways: Instead of standing for “Toronto Transit Commission,” the initials TTC actually stand for “Take The Car.”
I just want to point out, in a vain sort of way, that the dress I’m wearing is one of the t-shirt reconstructions I’ve done over the past two weeks, and I’m quite proud of it. It’s not quite as cool as what one of my co-workers calls my “Wonder Woman’s younger hipper sister’s dress”, but it’s still quite nice.
I’m going to attempt to haul Mr. Lissar out of bed to take some pics of the other dresses before I leave for work. He spent eleven hours competing in a martial arts tournament yesterday, and he’s sort of attached to the bed.
never dropped acid - haven’t smoked any weed in more than 15 years - don’t even drink heavily anymore
**welby ** - cool photos - way more than a dozen, you must have put more up. So, how did Li-Li identify herself for you? did she have a :wally sign?
Wow, you’re as boring as I am… I tell people that if I’m drinking heavily that week, it means I had communion at church.
Which is, of course, much more polite than referring to it by its colloquial name: The Vomit Comet.
Speaking of drinking heavily at communion… see (since I don’t know about others) we Whiskypalians take the wine from a chalice which is held by a Chalice Administrator or Lay Eucharistic Minister or whatever they’re called this week. Sometimes the chalice person will tip the chalice way over so that the person taking the wine will get a lot of wine. This is especially true if said person happens to be one of the last person’s taking communion and there’s a bunch of wine in the chalice still. Since I’m usually one of the last (cause I sit in the next to last pew on the Gospel side of the church) I have, on more than a few occasions felt like I was staggering back to my seat. This happens because, the chalice person has to drink up what’s left after everyone has had communion and some of 'em don’t want to chug a bunch of wine, so they get some unwitting communicant buzzed. Sometimes it’s a real good thing we have coffee hour after Eucharist.
And I thought my church was cool because we have a rock band and we can bring our Starbucks in with us. I wanna go where you go!!
Uh, same God, right?
Nice pics welby and a nice OP too!
Toronto sounds very interesting. Interestingly enough, as a kid I used to go to Vancouver BC and Victoria all the time. I haven’t been back to either since I was a teenager lo, these many ages ago. Robson Street and the Stanley Park were way cool. So was the suspension bridge in West Vancouver. I also enjoyed other aspects of Vancouver, but that’s all I can remember right now. It’s not like I could go out and “party”, I was always there with my mother.
Yay for vunderwife! That is very good news and indeed something to be proud of.
Our weekend was pretty quiet, except for when my nephew and his daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend came over. They came over for awhile and then we all went to see Silent Hill. Don’t waste your money on this one folks. It was gawd-awful.
Yesterday, we were going to go out on the boat, but it was awfully chilly. It just never seemed to warm up. The day started out gorgeous, but by about 9:30 or 10:00 the clouds were rolling in and out. It just never warmed up. Yeah, we could have gone fishing or something, but the hubby wanted to try his wakeboard out. He saw how cold and miserable he would have been, had we gone out, and bagged it. Yeah, we have wetsuits, but even with those, you can still get cold.
I guess so. Ours says it’s ok to have a cocktail or two. My Priest and his wife were over for lunch yesterday and I not only handed my Priest a glass of wine, I did not even ask first. Furthermore, I walked around with a bottle of wine and refilled his glass without first asking. He did not seem to mind.
I think one of the tenets of the Whiskypal church is, no social function shall be had without a preceding cocktail hour.
:dubious: thanks?
Okay, welby is in Fairfax. How could I miss that? I live so close to there! I need to get a chance to meet welby!
