Oh, I’d say that your wife is pretty lucky, too.
Generally speaking, grown adults who live with their parents, after a certain time period, are deadbeats. But that’s generally speaking. Your mother actually DID need someone, and if you hadn’t stepped up, she probably would have had to hire someone.
But I have to admit, when I learn that someone is living with his/her parents after the age of 25 or so, my first thought is “deadbeat loser”, until I hear of special circumstances. It’s a very real prejudice, but I’m willing to change my mind if I learn that the person is dealing with health issues, or is just getting over a divorce, etc.
