I was just thinking today about the fact that I haven’t actually gone out and bought clothing in years. I’ve had clothing bought FOR me, and I have bought shoes (just not recently), but I haven’t actually bought shirts, pants, underwear, or socks in probably close to 7 or 8 years. My last big wardrobe infusion was 8 years ago, when my mother took me to the Big & Tall for my birthday and I got to pick out $400 worth of clothes…a lot of my current wardrobe is still those clothes. Most of my other clothing in current rotation is Christmas gifts from my partner.
It seems a little weird that I haven’t actually gone out clothes shopping for almost a decade. What do you never do that “normal” people do all the time?
Listen to music. Maybe once every two or three months, I get the urge, and I go through my very short list of old favorites, but it never lasts more than about a day. I used to try to find new music I like, but I nearly never did, so I’ve quit trying. I’d say it’s been over a decade since I’ve added anything to my collection. And, incidentally, 95%+ of my collection is stuff I’d skip over if it popped up on random in one of my rare binges.
I’m like the OP… I can’t even remember the last time I bought clothes. My wife buys me clothes a couple times a year. I have just never put much importance on clothing.
It seems like most people are on their cell phones all day. Like you, I’m not a cell phone person. I have a six year old Nokia Tracfone that I keep in my car, and I *might *use once or twice a month.
Normal men watch sports on TV. I never watch sports on TV.
I never buy a lot of groceries at once. I buy just what I need for that particular meal. I keep a few staples, but most of those I get at the drug store (milk, coffee, etc)
I don’t buy clothing either. And I only use my cell phone to text my husband.
I also don’t wear shoes in the house, ever. Or pants. Once home, I change immediately into what I’m planning to wear to bed (t-shirt, panties, that’s it) and wear that the rest of the evening. I don’t answer the door. I don’t answer the phone. I don’t play video games, use apps, or Tivo. I don’t even know what stations my favorite TV shows are on.
Drink alcohol. I don’t like it. I don’t like the taste, don’t like the effects, and don’t like the feeling the next day. Not beer or wine or mixed drinks.
