Guest room is guest-ready. Second guest room isn’t quite as crammed with crap as I’d expected it to be, which is good. I’ve got a pile of stuff on the counter that I need to sort and a stack of 3.5" floppies that I’m going to check out before deciding what to do with them. And I found the dog’s nail clippers - gotta get **FCD ** to give her a pedicure - I’ve got a scratch on my left arm from her attentions. :rolleyes:
Oh, and I found my passport. And it’s good till June or July of 08 (can’t remember which J-month…) I also found out that in 1998, I was wearing my hair long, and I wasn’t wearing glasses yet. That happened in 1999.
I’ve wrapped just about all the presents, and I’ve got a box ready to go tomorrow when we go to Mom’s. Except I forgot to put the candle holder for my sister in there. It’s not a gift per se - she’d just asked me to make her a holder for big, fat candles. Oops, and I forgot to wrap the pot I’m giving my MIL. But the stuff for tomorrow is ready.
And I found the cat. While I was cleaning and vacuuming and stuff, I didn’t see her around anywhere. I opened some closets and cabinets in case she’d snuck in, but she hadn’t. I looked in the basement - nope. I vacuumed, which usually sends her running, but no dice. I even looked around outside, just in case she’d gotten into the garage. Then when I went to take some of FCD’s shoes to the bedroom, there she was, sitting on my pillow. I guess she’d been under my bed when I was in there.
Break almost over. Dishwasher needs to be emptied, then refilled with dirties. The crap on the counter and the desk needs to be sorted and put away or trashed or paid. I should probably do some laundry, too. And clean the guest bath.
No fair you getting more done than me, FCM! I’ve emptied and re-filled the dishwasher and finished decorating the mantel. Still trying to figure out what to put in the fireplace (it used to be a gas fireplace and is empty now - someone before me disconnected the gas). There are plants in there now, but I want something Christmasier. I’ll come up with something - just not sure yet what.
One little chore got added - I took pics of the latest ceramics. The stuff from my last class is posted here, except for one rather pretty piece that I sent to a friend before photographing it. I’m going to ask her to take a pic of it and send it to me so I have a full set.
I posted some of these before in but this way, I have all together in one place.
Dishwasher emptied. I’m finding it hard to get remotivated.
Oh yeah - I have 6 more pieces to pick up, plus a freebie. On the last day, Tina pulled out a bunch of tiles that someone had made and left behind, and she told us we could claim and glaze whatever we wanted. So I grabbed one and glazed it for myself - it’ll be a trivet, if it’s not too ugly. And with luck, I’ll pick those up by Thurs and get pics posted soon.
And now I’m really really gonna get back to work - gotta load the dirty dishes!! Quit distracting me, you MMPers!!!
I was jonesing big time. Our cable TV and internet just now came up again. While we had electricity (and yes I know we were lucky), the cable/internet outage kind of sucked.

We’re off to START our Christmas shopping. Shaddup, I know most of you are done. We’re picking our tree up today as well. I did put up most of my indoor decorations last night. There wasn’t shit else to do, so I used the time wisely. I also read some of a book that I’d purchased a couple of weeks ago.

So, did I mention my brother also had a date Wednesday eve? From what he told me, I’d say his went a great deal better than mine. Then I mentioned I’d told you folks about Fried Idunno - he laughed (which is good to hear) and reminded me of a few more family words, which the explaining of would sound silly - suffice to say it was one of the best conversations we’d had in a while.
I am tahrd. Peapod has come and gone, and now I am going back to sleep for a bit.

Glad you’re back on line, Taters. I think I have all of my presents now. Except maybe stuff for a couple of my cousins and for part of my staff. Depends on my creativity. I shopped my little heart out this afternoon to get everything I wanted. Managed to avoid lines and find some additional stocking stuffers.

I believe I’ve also solved the problem of what to put in the fireplace. I’d forgotten that I have a candle thingy that goes in there. I’ll fill in with some sparkly ornaments and greenery and I think it will go nicely with the mantel.
Little brother is coming to visit tomorrow. He’s got all kinds of appointments in town on Monday and wants to fit one more in early in the morning. So we get to go out to dinner together. That’ll be nice.

Back from hockey - we won 5-3. In the past two nights we have beaten the first and second place teams; we’re in third. Things are lookin’ good!
I went out today and got Connor a cool Harley t-shirt; it has "Chattahoochee Harley-Davidson on the back and a picture of the Columbus Riverwalk. Something to remind him of us. Damn shirt was almost $30 - kinda pricey for a t-shirt!
After the game I stopped and got the stuff for the pie I’m taking to the Christmas party tomorrow. I’ll have to get up in the morning to make it - party starts at 4.
Off to pour a glass of Bailey’s and hope it makes me sleepy.

At any rate, we both started and FINISHED our Christmas present shopping today. I am so relieved and glad. We were plum tuckered out, but it’s done by golly! We were going to purchase our tree today, as well, but instead, we’re going to buy it tomorrow. Our plans are to go out to breakfast first, then pick up the tree. I plan to squeeze in a trip to Costco between breakfast and buying the tree. Hubby doesn’t know that yet.
Very nice work on the ceramics FCM. The cobalt blue is a very pretty color.
Now, begins the task of wrapping the presents. I’ll be doing that on my own, but if I wrap a few each evening, I should have them doing with little muss or fuss. This is my plan, anyway. I’m sure I’ll screw it up somehow and wait until nearly the last minute.
Mornnig! Another fun filled work day ahead, not. We are of course cutting more payroll, it’s not like its busy this time of year anyway. :rolleyes: It’s 0330, and no sign of Haze, she must have really tied one on last night/this morning.
I’m up way too early because of a weird dream. It involved my best friend from high school - Mary - who I haven’t seen in at least 15 years, maybe longer. I ran into her in a big auditorium where I was coming in with a Doper, also named Mary. (??) I introduced them because it turned out they grew up on the same street. Then my HS friend Mary told me she’d been married for 15 years and she had a 9-y/o son. (!!) That was surprising only because she had a tendency to crush on gay guys or have flings with married guys. So when did she have time to get married?? Anyway, it disturbed me enough that it woke me. So I’ve showered, tended to Bernie, and when I get done reading the funnies on line, I’ll finish the task I only half-did last night.
We watched Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - what a huge disappointment that was! Where the first one was fun and full of silly twists, this one was tedious and predictable, full of cheap plot devices. At least, I thought so. And so obviously made with a sequel in mind. I bought the stupid disk figuring it would be entertaining. I’m very sad that I spent $25 for it. Oh well…
So anyway, a little more tidying to do, and in about 4 hours, we’ll leave for the airport to pick up our firstborn! I am very excited - YAY! <happy dances on the way to Choreland>

Operation Santa last night was a hoot, but cold. I scored an extra sack of oranges left over from making the goodie bags. The suckers are the size of grapefruit. Mayberry VFD has enough candy left over for 3 years of parades, Halloween, and Santas…
Am sick–bad head cold. Policy decrees that if one calls in on a weekend, one works the very next weekend. I don’t think so…so am off to work. I have taken drugs.
I forgot to post when I got home last night/this morning (2.30am) to tell you lot how much I love you all and how you’re all such special people.

It was a very good night out, great to catch up with an old friend. This morning I turned my phone on to find a message from another friend who’s coming up to Brum on Monday and wants to meet after work for Chinese. There goes the diet!
Today’s going to be a lazy day, I should be studying but I’m just not going to. I’m up to date with my study plan and I have a few days between finishing work on Wednesday and going up to Scotland on Boxing Day…that’ll do for studies. So this afternoon is grocery shopping and a trip to the wine warehouse for the important stocks…and I still have a gift voucher for a bottle of champagne. Guess what I’ll be drinking on hexmas day?
Odd dream, FCM. That dream I mentioned upthread where I couldn’t remember much? The person from my life today was either also a Doper or might have been two people, one a Doper and one not. (Funny how you remember dreams in pieces.)
