Things to do in Vegas when you're dead - a holiday MMP

Stupid landlord is taking his own sweet time repainting the wall he tore out in the kitchen. I had to resort to McDonald’s for lunch. McD’s always makes me feel bloated.

Also, Cloud Maiden left without cleaning up most of her mess. :: sigh :: Oh well. I have a friend visiting this weekend so I was going to clean the house anyway.

Congrats, Sean! And hugs for Pie and parents.

Sucks about the stove, LiLi. I hate it when stuff like that happens in the middle of cooking.

I hadn’t eaten anything from MacD’s in a long time until yesterday, when I ventured a cheeseburger. I bit into it, noticed a distinctive lack of anything resembling flavor, tossed the rest in the garbage and microwave popcorn.

I’m beat, I was up at 3. Nap time.

I called the landlady, and she’s going to talk to the repair guy about whether there’s a point trying to repair it, or it should be replaced. It’s a pretty new stove, but I think I only used it four times since it was fixed, and it’s broken again.

So any baking will use my Mom’s oven. Stupid evil appliance. At least this time it only ruined one thing (the sticky buns/monkey bread). I put the focaccia in the freezer.
I think I’ll lie on the couch sulking for a bit. And then make dinner.

Woo hoo! My son is home from college for holiday break!! Boy, was I glad to see him … and in one piece. Naturally, I had been thinking something had happened, especially since he’d told me that he would -probably- be home sometime over the weekend.

Congrats, Sean and Mrs. Factotum!! Although I’m not sure why this is a second wedding, but congrats anyways.

One more day down, three more to go.

Congrats Sean and Mrs Sean !

Another update in the never ending saga of ems having no heat - called the warranty people they called idiots-r-us and funnily enough the called me back. I was on the phone at the time so now I have to call them back BUT looks like progress. Blokey on the phone at the warranty people was very nice and is going to check back with me tomorrow to see how things are going and if it is progressing to my satisfaction.

I threatened to sue idiots-r-us if my pipes freeze

Sucks about the oven–and the roommate who didn’t tidy before she left.

Forgot to add this: #1 son’s Bday is Jan. 9th–care to hang on, just one more day?

This is turning into the Mutha of all colds. I am miserable. Chicken soup is heating as we post. Have class tonight.

Congrats, Sean! Why weren’t we in on the planning? No, I’m not hurt, not one lil bit. Are we ever going to meet Mrs.?

I hate McDonald’s and won’t eat there. I prefer Steak and Shake.

I’m up. Thanks for the hugs. Not really feeling any better. I need to go do some work for tomorrow so I need to pull myself together. Not sure how well that is going to work.

Oh. And…

Woo-Hoo Sean and Mrs Sean!!!

HazelNut and Olive’s afternoon.

Olive settles down on my lap, ready for her nap.
Can I have a kiss?
Olive likes it rough. Ow.
Well, that was exhausting.
Night!

How did you do that? (take the pic from that angle when you’re home alone?)

Like the last one–the others are a tad blurry…

Off to class. Chicken soup is food of the gods. Even if it is Ramen creamy chicken noodle.

My imaginary friend, Miss Webcam.

Evenin’ y’all! Supper is et and it’s spend the night night. Perhaps we shall follow up on some of the suggestions made during the obscene phone call I had earlier. Right now, it’s ice cream time!

Later!

Okay, I went and watched a movie and slipped into a nap and so have accomplished little more than a shower and getting dressed. I was very careful in the shower, because I am the only one home, the meds make me woozy and I do not want to fall in the bathroom, especially getting out of the tub, and have to wait for the EMT’s…eeek!

Thank everyone for the compliments on Tea and her dress, The one thing I did not mention is that the other grandma got her a red velvet Santa-y kind of dress, which makes my daughter’s eyes roll. They are going in for family photos today, I am looking forward to those. And yes, all babies are adorable, and I go by the rule that the most recent baby is the cutest baby that ever was. Right now I have two I am waiting on, the tinyninjachef in January, and my daughter from another mother’s second child, also a boy, who is due in February. By the way li-li my son was due on New Year’s Eve and was born on January 8th. I’ve heard tell that the latter part of January is the best time to be born, wink wink!

Exactly! Which is why I use cream of chicken with herbs when I am making a quick cassarole!

Hey rigs thanks again for the compliment on the dress. What you don’t know is that I also bought her a white dress which ties at the shoulders with tiny pink satin ribbons, has a matching cardigan to wear over it, and both are trimmed with dainty embroidery and bright pink feather boa, with a matching headband; a gorgeous primrose yellow dress with a gauzy over dress with tiny embroidered flowers which will be her Easter dress, and do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a bathrobe complete with matching slippers for a four month old girl is? But find it I did! Thank you, thank you very much, just call me super gramma!

Mama Tigs he is looking for a cod and opie job which will take him to the Bering Sea for both fisheries. He has an option to fish for tanner crab around the island in January, but that is only a two week fishery, and quite frankly he needs to make some money to get us through halibut. Yeah, he’s crazy, but he has velcro feet when it comes to working on deck, and fishing is what he does. It’s not the easiest life for either of us, but hopefully once the last two kids are out of the house it will be easier to get by on what he earns during the Spring and Summer around the island.

Hi roo ::bounce bounce:: just sending bounces to the west doesn’t send them here! Pleas face north occasionally! lol!

mmmmms I had already translated nady Tea into baby Tea before I scrolled down! And even if you live in California it is too late in the year to be going without heat, that is awful. I hope that you are warm again soon.

I feel for you SCL, I am 47 and get lupus lesions on my face that often resemble acne, plus the hot flashes. What a drag it is getting old…name that song!

li-li you are packing around a little being who is siphoning off the cream of your nutrition. I advise taking several mini rests during the day, a nap is good as long as it doesn’t interrupt your normal sleep schedual. Eat heathily, drink lots of fluids, and put your feet up for a bit every day. It helped me through four pregnancies, there must be something there which will give you a boost!

Hey pie, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations Sean and Mrs. Sean-to-be! Skiffman is my second husband, and tomorrow is our 10th anniversary. Of course, he is also my first husband as well, so we have 18 years together with a minor two years when we were divorced, but he wouldn’t go away, so it doesn’t really count. Anyway, marriage is what you make of it, and I send you many wishes for years of bliss.

FCM being a gramma is easily the best thing in the world! When I hold Tea and look at my daughter there is such a feeling of continuity and contentment. All of the Oh My God What Have I gotten Myself Into feelings from being the mama are gone. And the rush of love that floods my heart is, well, indescribable. Oh, and fuel oil costs? I have the same size tank as you do, and it costs over twice that to fill it. Living in a state which has so much oil production going on, it makes me see red. Oh yeah, and don’t remind me about the fricken Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Settlement, they ought to be pumping our oil free of charge, imnsho!

Oooh li-li that sucks about the stove. If we were closer I would let you use mine, I would even help!

Woo hoo on your son being home herbs! I know how much I miss my older two kids having flown the nest, so enjoy his stay to the fullest!

Haze Olive is a very pretty kitty.

Well I need to prepare myself, as daughter #3 (who is 16) is bringing her new 18 year old but still in high school boyfriend home for the parental interrogation. Since skiffman is out on the water I guess I will have to go drag the shotgun out of the closet, we frontier wimmen have to be tough, you know! I need to put a good enough scare into him so that my precious girl remains sweet and wholesome! I’ll let you all know how this turns out!

Nose has turned into a wonky faucet. Throat is on fire. Hate this–felt fine yesterday.

Dermatolgist said my skin isn’t bad for a 45 year old woman–did I say that already? Anyhoo, best compliment in RL I’ve received all week…

#2 son who did not believe in Santa last year, is back believing in Santa.

I’m letting it ride. What the hell.

I’m home and have eaten dinner. I know you were wondering.

Congrats, Sean (and Mrs. Sean-to-be, of course)! You are doing this because you love your GF and trust that you’ve made a better choice this time.

Cute pics, Hank.

Sorry you feel rotten, rigs. Feel better soon! (So far, I seem to have avoided getting The Sick that was threatening me on Sunday…::crosses fingers:: )

Hope things work out, CutiePie. Thinking of you.

Yay for having your son home, tarra!

Wow…I can’t believe tinyninjachef is so close to arriving. How exciting!

I notice we haven’t seen many pics of HRH lately. Clearly Dotty has forgotten her responsibility to us!

It’s so nice to hear more from you, kai! Hope that skiffman’s jobs work out well and that he’s safe. Good luck playing the role of interrogating parent.

Not much more to say; I need to go send my Secret Santa package and my ornament.

Back after a bit.

GT

Dotty does seem to be missing in action. I’m sure she’s much busier since going back to work. I hope her search for a better job is going well.

Thanks, kai. I do feel like putting my feet up is my main activity right now. It’s amazing how much less mobile I feel than, say, two or three weeks ago.

rigs, I’ve seen pictures. You’re pretty. Add that to the ‘having nice skin’ compliment. I’m sorry you’ve caught [DEL]my[/DEL] a cold.
I should put some rice on. We’re supposed to be doing Christmas cards tonight. Mr. Lissar is skipping second class, so he’ll be home at quarter to eight or so. The curry (cheating and using President’s Choice tikka masala sauce) smells good.

Laundry is done, I won’t have till do it again till Boxing Day. I took Nelly for a walk on the greenway. Every dog we met barked at her. I am doing Christmas cards and presents, and watching hockey. Nelly is snoring. It sounds like a chainsaw stuffed in a garbage disposal stuffed in a wood chipper.

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Factorum!!!

Haze, I’m jealous of Olive. Looks like you’re lying about the underwear thing, though. :frowning:

kai, Mother’s Little Helper, by the Rolling Stones(who know about getting old, and recreational pharmaceuticals).

rigs, that’s the ethical way for your doctor to say “You’re one hot mama!”

FCM, I’m the same way. If i get money, the car, the beagle, or I break(sometimes at the same time).

So, FCD’s solution to the repair bill for the Jetta - trade it in on a Chrysler Crossfire.

I swear, he is such a guy…

Still here. Still feeling like crap. Just thought I’d say hi.

Spaz is fine. I don’t live up to it as much as I used to, but I’ve definitely earned the name. I may have to tonight. The frog and chameleon cages got moved into my room during the Great House Rearrangement and I just found out the downside to that: the crickets that escape the cage. I just caught one on the dog’s bed. I can’t wait for the lights to come on tomorrow so Hansel the Eternal Chameleon* will wake up and eat his dinner.

(So called because he’s six years old–ancient for a cham. They usually live only three years.)
