Today I have accomplished the daily scoopin’ of frogs out of the cee-mint pond, made deviled aigs for Sunday, cooked green beans to take to my friends’ house and steamed a cabbage that was goin’ bad if I didn’t do sump’n with it. Since I do have a tendency to over cook, instead of pizza we shall dine upon chicken 'n rice, green beans and cabbage tonight. That pot of chicken 'n rice is one hyuuuuuuuuuge pot!
::yawn:: Some idiots decided that it’d be fun to go swimming at 3:30. On a week night. In the pool that’s right next to a whole building of houses. Who the hell thinks it’s ok to go swimming in the middle of the night in a community pool? My husband, the president of the homeowners’ board, had darned well better do something about it.
I made the Pioneer Woman’s Cajun chicken pasta again last night. Thanks **Haze **for posting a link to that recipe a while back. That is some good stuff! Has anyone seen Haze recently?
I’m so not in to working this morning. I haven’t been working “summer hours” (extra hours M-Th then leave at noon on Fri) this summer, but since I got stuck working until 10 on Tuesday, I think I’ve worked my 40 hours and am going to get out of here promptly at noon! It’s not the greatest day to take off - rainy and cool - but I don’t care! I’m tired and grumpy and unmotivated and I’m soooooooooo looking forward to going home and doing some knitting!
This morning flew by, thanks to an 8:30-10:30 meeting and the obligatory follow-up tasks. It’s only my third week on the job, so all of the meetings are still new and exciting. Just four more hours until quittin’ time! It is gorgeous outside today – nicest weather we’ve had in weeks – and I’m really looking forward to hitting the dog park after work. I’m also really looking forward to my monthly poker game, which is tonight. Looks like we’ll have a nice little pot: ~10 players, with a $20 buy-in. Usually there are only about six of us. Now I just have to continue my tradition of finishing in the money…
So, being new to the MMP and all, I have a question about what happens on Sunday night/Monday morning: does this thread flatline when the next MMP begins?
I have a friend named Bob who has a dog named Gracie.
ETA: The thread dies at an indeterminate time Sunday night or Monday morning, whenever the [del]railroaded OP[/del] volunteer poster puts up the next MMP. Most will close this one with a link to the new one. But not always.
nome or should it be Missy, we all just migrate over to the new thread when it starts. Even if you had sump’n you wanted to add to the old thread, just bring it over to the new one. Heck, it ain’t like you’d be jumped on for bein’ off topic.
Hmmm… I think that’s the number one rule of the MMP. There ain’t no such thing as off topic. It’s the number one rule right next to “Rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules!”
Ok, change of plans re JDD’s mom’s lunch on Sunday. I got a call from JDD sayin’ it was gonna be at his place instead of his folks on account of they were comin’ to Albeeeeeeny to go get churched. Fine, ‘cept his place is kinda smallish dinin’ room wise so I suggested we have it at da cave since my dinin’ room is big enough to accommodate 9 people easy. Thus, instead of a trip to the metropolis that is Parrot, Jawja, everybody’s comin’ to da cave instead. Sure we’ll be messin’ up my dishes, etc but hey, I got me a dishwasher for just such occasions. I think JDD was a little relieved because it will be a lot easier.
Accomodate? Accommodate? Acommodate? It all looks wrong to me!
Heh! When I read your post I actually looked at your public profile to see if you could possibly be “my” Bob, but I couldn’t imagine him being a Doper without me knowing it (we have Licentious Ectomorph as a mutual friend IRL, so the Dope would have come up!).
Thanks!
It’s been years since I played SDMB poker, but I think my nickname among those Dopers was “Nomer” (there was already a “Missy”). Whatever y’all want to call me will work, though.
Hey, neighbor! Well, almost - I’m in SoMD but I work in the Northern Neck of VA. So, what part of the gov’t do you work for?
Yeah, I’m home early. Nothing was going on at work and even my boss suggested he’d approve a request to cut out, so I left at noon. I just finished cleaning the dining room carpet - housebreaking a puppy is hard on the carpets.
Daughter is home till Sunday morning - probably with a case of strep. So she’s got meds and orders to drink lots and rest. **FCD **is at the boat - he took off early and he’s installing the new lifelines. We’re going to sail tomorrow.
I’m a govvie working for the Navy for 36 years. My spousal unit works for a small contractor at Pax River.
A woman I was stationed (with when we were on active duty) works for a contractor somewhere in Crystal City. And I have several other friends inside the Beltway, both gov and contractor. I expect that defines the majority in the DC area, yes?
I’ve been to Pax River a handful of times, but not in the past 10 years or so. Once upon a time I worked on a NAVAIR project based out there: I was working in NoVa, but got a few “field trips.”
Yeah, I think gov’t or contractor covers 90% of the job market around here.
Supper was chickie strips and N.O.T. tots and cabbage and cherry 'maters. 'Twas yummerrific and I’s stuffeded. The dishwasher is running, and the few that didn’t fit are hand-washed and drying on the counter. Life is good.
Tomorrow, my sweetie and I are going sailing. Daughter is staying home and doing laundry. Sunday is supposed to be rainy, so I’ll do my laundry then. I’m hoping this will be a relaxing weekend overall.
Actually doggio is in charge of the squid-goat. It (we don’t know its sex cause it won’t tell us) was adopted by Nelly and Gordie and lives under doggio’s bed.
Dindin was teh num! I make a gooooooooood chicken 'n rice. My friends called to say how much they enjoyed their dindin. Makes a bear feel good to hear stuff like that there.
Thanks for the bday wishes mmmmmm! 'Twas a good one.
I’ve been messin’ with Farmville (so sue me, I like it!) and drinkin’ some beerverages.
