Up, caffeinated, off to irk.
Good luck, Sticky!

Bought my first brand new car at 21.
Puffed my first marijuana when I was in my late 20s. But I didn’t inhale. Honest.
I learned to ride a bicycle at like age 32. Where I grew up things were so far apart that pedal bikes just didn’t work - we usually went straight to mini-bikes (I had an original Rat Fink I rescued from the dump) or junk cars (even as young as 10 on the dirt paths). And by the time we moved out of the mountains, I just figured I was too old to learn so I didn’t. I finally admitted to my lack of knowledge and ability at an event out the American Motorcyclist Association offices and several people there made it their goal in life to teach me. There were some bruises and skinned flesh, not all of it mine, but I did get pretty good by the end of the weekend. Not enough that I ran out and bought one to strap across my Harley but enough that I sometimes borrow or rent one for a little jaunt.
And in holdover from last week I give you a Marine having his nipple bitten by a camel spider (NSFW)

The more or less obvious things like buying a house…
I was 31 the first time I remember telling my dad I loved him. We were just that kind of father/son. It was obvious and we had a really close relationship, but we just never said it. You can bet your ass my daughter has heard me say it almost daily since she was born.
Climbed a very tall ladder. Had a big fear of heights for a long time. In college I had a friend convince me to do some rock climbing which was fun. Later, when I worked managing hi-rise buildings, I got to where I’d be able to climb steel towers, cross catwalks, and stand next to those blinking red FAA lights 810 feet over the ground.
Shouldn’t that be 'Been there, done that and tossed the TP?"
“Great Scott!”
Flown on a plane. I was 23.
Gone abroad. My first time abroad was age 25.
Ran a 5K. I was 26.
By the way, Annie, what you did was awesome.
I can’t hink of anything!
I was an early bloomer…
Happy Monday, all! Blurf.
Last night I cooked like a caveman. The power went out around suppertime, so I grilled. Good thing I already had planned to make shrimp kebabs, huh? I did make rice on the grill burner though! Low temp was too high, but it was still edible.
Guess who’s at our house again? Dipsey showed up Friday night, followed very quickly by his owner. He had gotten away while they were all getting in the car. I talked her into letting him spend the night. She was supposed to pick him up Saturday at 2:00 pm. Never showed.
I can’t think of anything either!
I had a LiLi-level baking day yesterday. I made wheat bread, granola, spanikopita, and baklava. And I roasted beets for a Mediterranean beet salad.
taxi that’s impressive. Not many can do a LiLi level of bakin’!
I went out to get the mail a little while ago. My across the road neighbor was gettin’ her mail and said that it’s just about all she can stand to walk down to the mailbox everyday it’s so hot. I’m a summer baby and even I agree with that especially this past two weeks! I spent very little time out of the pool last Saturday, meanin’ if’n I was out there I was in the water. No sittin’ up under the gazebo at all. Usually several of us will get out of the pool and sit around the bar under the gazebo drinkin’ beerverages. This past Saturday everybody was gettin’ a beer and gettin’ back in the pool to sit on the steps whilst drinkin’. It was too hawt otherwise.
I have a pork roast in the slow cooker. In a while Ima throw in some carrots and N.O.T.. I shall steam some asparagus in the microwave to go with it all. It’s called cookin’ while makin’ the minimum of heat. Plus it’ll be teh num!
Say goodbye to all of - this - and say hello - to oblivion.
(I antici-----------------pate what this could lead to)
Made smores over the fire.
Went sledding. I was 26 the first time I ever went sledding.
Edit: Oh, and 85 lbs. Holy shit! Congrats!
Ha! I’ve seen it!
I’m 38 and just helped change a tire for the first time about a month ago. I’d never even seen it done before except on TV/in movies.
This is also my first time in an MMP thread.
Hi guys! I’m on the job and it’s been pretty interesting so far. I’ll have to tell you all about it later. And I’ve only been hit on twice.
So far.
Wow! We have a lot of people I haven’t seen so far in an MMP thread. Welcome, you guys!
(spreads out the red welcome mat, offers canapes and smores and stuff)
(Plans dinner at taxi’s house)
I’m here! Sorry I’ve been absent. It’s been busy.
I’m making pork curry with lentils and tomatoes and cauliflower. And we’re having homemade naan.
I changed diapers for the first time as an adult. I also didn’t drink till I was legal. I was a pretty tame teenager.
It’s hot. Let’s cancel the rest of summer.
Welcome first timers. You have now been assimilated. Y’all are offcially Mumpers.
So, we got invitated to dindin and I already had dindin cookin’. Thus, it shall become tomorrow night’s dindin cause, hey, free invite!

So you’re invitin’ us all to dindin tomorrow night? Free invite, right?

I agree! And you’re welcome to come to dinner if you bring the naan!
This must be a poke night - we had country style ribs, broccoli, N.O.T. tots, and Amish cantaloupe - muy yummy. Dishes are washing, dogs have been out to do their business, and I have a few minutes to relax. So. What did I first do as an adult?
Well, I took up pottery after 50. Got my pilot’s license at 21, but that’s not the kind of thing you do as a kid anyway. Honestly, I can’t think of anything most folks do younger that I did older.
But I also wanted to mow the lawn and was denied because it was a boy job - hence my brother’s chore. Hey, it was the 60s and my mom was stuck in the June Cleaver frame of mind. I was expected to get a nice, safe girl job, get married, and have lots of babies. So I enlisted in the Navy, became an avionics technician. Then I got my engineering degree and have worked as an engineer for the last 25-ish years. The closest I got to a girl job was the semester I taught Algebra in a junior college. OK, I did get married and have a baby - in my 30s.
Welcome, MMP n00bs and returning visitors! It’s a great place to escape a case of the Mondays!
