Things you have more than one of, just because you like them

Cats.

Ha ha ha, thread won!

Man, can I ever sympathize with this post. I can’t even tell you how many I have but it’s a buttload, and yet, I can never put my hands on one when I need one. Just for S&Gs I should round them up and make a count.

Me, too. I have so many pairs of skis in the rafters of the garage! I didn’t think of them as fitting the OP, however, because I don’t buy new pairs just because I like them. I buy new skis every 3-4 years because of technological improvements. If I were just a recreational skier, I wouldn’t buy them so often, but I need them for work. Plus, I get a big discount on them so it’s not that large an expenditure.

I guess it depends on your perspective! I’m Asian and cook a lot of Asian meals (2-3x per week), so including chopsticks in my post would have been the same - literally - as saying ‘forks’!

Hold My Beer…

so many things.

sunglasses, now that i can use non prescription. i also have 2 prescription.
bags, backpack, shopping, and just cause.
books, so many books.
bowls, i love a good bowl.
tee shirts, every day wear for me.
jackets. i do love a good looking jacket/blazer/sportcoat.
hats, so many hats. so many.

nearly forgot, glasses. i get souvenir glasses from wherever i’ve been. quite the collection now.

Gamewell fire alarm boxes. The kind you used to see on city street corners or in larger buildings. Six standard boxes, two flush-mounts, and two pedestal street boxes. All fully restored (except for one of the flush mounts that was in near mint condition when I acquired it).

Five of them are wired together with an 11-inch gong, tapper bell, and punch tape register; all fully operational. It’s all behind me when I’m in a teams meeting from the home office (along with a bunch of other stuff that’s made it home from work over 30-plus years).

I have a hobby of restoring the boxes now for friends and acquaintances. I’ve brought 22 back to full life, thankfully I can usually say “no thanks” to a new one for my own collection.

Cars, guitars, and tools.

I used to have way too many computers too, but I’m down to 3 desktops and 2 laptops (plus my work laptop which doesn’t count since it’s not mine).

One pair is straight K2 712s, 195s right outta the 90s. All they need is fresh bindings and a mile of moguls!

Had to look those up - cool!

Jealous. I only have 2 acoustic. One is a ‘Carlos’ that I bought at a garage sale. I don’t know anything about it except that it plays very well and sounds great.

Wait, hol’ up.

Cats.

I have far more tools than I actually need.

I have tools for the garage, tools for the craft room, a portable set of tools for when I go work on one of my rental properties, tools in every vehicle in case something breaks down. But I also just have lots of extra duplicates just because I like tools. I have numerous screwdriver sets, the last couple of which I bought just because I liked them and thought they were well-made. I didn’t need two more screwdriver sets. I have extra wrenches, pliers, hammers (what the heck do I need with 3 nearly identical hammers?), saws, socket sets, all kinds of tools. It’s not just so that I have tools when and where I need them. Too many were bought just because I like tools.

So yeah, I have more than one set of tools, just because I like them.

I have too many copies of the movie Labyrinth. I have two DVDs, one Blu-ray, and two digital downloads. I used to have it on VHS, both official and from the TV, but those are long gone.

I also have a lot of Labyrinth-related books and a score soundtrack CD.

Point taken. Although I can’t fault you for hammers. I have more than I need myself. Right out of high school, I got a job on a framing crew. So I always needed a good hammer. The 22s were always a bit too much so I used a 16 with a longer hatchet handle that I fitted to it for extra leverage. I loved that hammer - it eventually got stolen on a job site.

Just last weekend I bought an ancient ball-peen hammer (22) with a broken handle at a garage sale that I’m going to re-fit with a new one. Do I need a ball-peen hammer? Not at all… but I have a cool one!

That’s an interesting one. I, too, have multiple copies (DVDs) of my favorite movies and I’m not even sure why. Different knives I can see, but why do I need multiple copies of the exact same DVD? But I have them.

Just keep telling them that they have no power over you.

Pocket watches, wrist watches, pocket knives, hats, fig trees, flowered shirts.

What I really need are more pockets, wrists, and heads.

How does that work?

Back Scratchers. I bought a pack of five thinking that was too many. But it’s so nice to have one nearby at all times. Office, bedroom, in front of the tv, the car, and one last one in the guest bedroom/home office.

Skis. Grinders (I have 4 with different features), nail guns, chainsaws.

Purse-a-holic here, too. My fave is my Hobo crossbody, a real warhorse, but Fossil, Brighton, and those designer cloth bags…all are in my wardrobe. As I age, my shoulders are not fond of anything too bulky or heavy, so I love me a small one! (purse, that is)

Preach, MFer! You can never have too many back scratchers!
