I want to see all of Prince’s albums, even the obscure ones, remastered and reissued in deluxe 3-disc editions, set out as follows.
Disc one: the original album, plus all the B-sides/rarities from that era,
Disc two: unreleased songs and remixes from the album sessions,
Disc three: a DVD of all the music videos for the singles.
Purple Rain, however, should come in a gigantic super-mega-super-deluxe version with a DVD of the film and an extra CD featuring the original sequencing of the album plus all the non-Prince songs in the film from The Time and Apollonia 6, plus a big frilly shirt and a pair of man-heels to wear whilst listening to said album.
Yes I have thought about this a lot.
And I want the same basic idea applied to the catalogues of Kate Bush, Madonna and Michael Jackson, but Prince’s catalogue needs it the most because some of his albums are deleted or very hard to find.
I’d also like to see CD singles make a comeback, even if just as a niche item for collectors.
I’d like to see any of Neal Stephenson’s novels done as a movie or miniseries, with Stephenson having complete creative control. I know I ain’t gonna see that.
Nor a screen adaptation of Illuminatus! that doesn’t fuck up everything beyond recognition.
Second on the Firefly Seasons 2 - 8 (or infinity).
I would like to see a political discourse in which Republicans weren’t painted as thuggish neanderthals stuck in the dark ages and Democrats weren’t painted as America-hating Dr. Evils plotting the downfall of civilization as we know it.
Ditto the original Babylon 5 - the “you’re getting five seasons - no, four seasons - no wait, five seasons” thing gave all the plot arcs whiplash, ruining the last two seasons.
I’d like to see Dick Cheney and Karl Rove forced to answer some awkward questions under oath. Man, if you think Bill Clinton lied…
Another few episodes of the Dresden Files would be nice.

My home network of music not jacking up, so that I can truly appreciate and enjoy all of my collections without cursing. Please - a simple music system that works with random external drives. I just want all of my owned music easily accessed whenever I want it, without needing help from an IT expert.
Full 3D immersion fantasy online gaming with real role playing, instead of achievement hunting players. I want it fun, clean, fantasy, and not deal with douche players or a system that rewards them. I want D&D like I played when younger, not people min maxing the hell out of it.

I’d give my arm for that (okay maybe not an arm… I’ll give them a toe) but I think it’s best to wish for things that in theory wouldn’t involve Kate actually doing anything, though it’s hugely unlikely she’d give her albums over to outsiders for remastering!
And a thought that’s been kicking around in my head: a collaboration between Joss Whedon and JMS could be interesting, on the condition that Joss has NOTHING to do with any romantic relationships that might exist.
I’d also like to see my bookcases completed (more than a year since I signed the contract). And a job. A job would be good.
I would like to see a World’s Fair. I saw the NY one in 64 and have not seen one since. Yes I know they are still being held. (Shanghai 2010) but my chances of going to one now are very low. (2012 Yeoseu Korea, 2015 Milan Italy are the next two. no others are scheduled)
