Think back to the first person you had sex with. Were the two of you in love?

No.
No.
No.
No.

I was a college freshman, and was WAY overdue to having my first sexual experience. I met a guy who was hot and had a great sense of humor, and he made it clear that he was available. That’s all it took.

No, no, no, and no.

  1. No. I was hammered and it was the first time we met.

2-4) See #1.

Yes to all four, though I did outgrow him after a few years and we split up. That was 30 years ago.

  1. Absolutely. She was my first serious girlfriend, and as an awkward kid who had had terrible luck with girls up until that point, I fell completely head-over-heels for her (undoubtedly helped by the fact that she was the “pursuer” in the relationship).
  2. Yes.
  3. Yes, though there was undoubtedly a huge dollop of infatuation and lust in there, as well.
  4. I’ve often wondered. She eventually dropped me, rather cruelly and suddenly, for a friend of mine (about a year after the “first time”), but I do imagine that there was some level of love there, at least at the original time.

Parenthetically: 28 years ago, at age 18.
