Second, it has nothing to do with lining up to feel superior to anyone (although, if I did want to act superior, I’d point out that “feel superior too” is a grade-school level spelling error); rather, since some of us don’t spend every waking moment hitting the “refresh” button to see what new nugget of wisdom has been posted to the boards, we rely on our friends to let us know when there’s a particularly good thread to check out. Third, it has nothing to do with Lobsang personally; that was just the most recent example of the whole drama queen trend of attention-whore ploys to which the OP refers. Fourth, there’s a big difference between “righteous” and “self-righteous”. I’m sure you probably consider your stance to be firmly in the former category. I’m not going to try to claim that there weren’t people that posted just because Demo was the OP, but that isn’t exactly a solid case for dick suckers. I know I will open a thread, and be more inclined to post in said thread, if it’s started by someone I “know” and like. I would even include you in that list. Does that mean I want to suck your dick? No, it just means that you have a positive recognition factor in my mind.
However, that doesn’t predispose me to always posting in your favour. And I think it’s safe to assume that the people that were in agreement with Demo were in agreement based on their own opinions, not just because they wanted to “me too!” with one of the, as you put it “cool kids”.
Miller, the one thing I can assure you is that Demo did not post this to make himself look better. He couldn’t give a rat’s ass what anyone here thinks of him, which is why he’ll always just say exactly what’s on his mind, even if can be considered harsh or “mean”.
I can’t speak for Demo, obviously, but maybe this was just the breaking point after witnessing multiple threads of this type. Lobsang isn’t the first to play the “I’m leaving. Awww, you like me - alright I’ll stay” game, so maybe this had been brewing and when he saw this thread in MPSIMS it reached a head.

Lobsang posted a thread in mpsims that was a bit of a grab for attention. He was full of self doubt and wanted someone to stroke his ego. There’s nothing really wrong in that, but we play hardball around here and demo posted a parody thread at lobsang’s expense. To his immense credit, Lobsang seems to be taking it with pretty good humor. Because of this, he doesn’t need defending.
I never thought of this thread as especially mean spirited. What some people don’t seem to realize is that it’s possible to tell a joke at someone’s expense and yet still respect them. Ridicule without hatred. Among my friends, we call it “busting your balls”. Hell, most of the jokes are bad puns and aren’t directed at lobsang anyway.
Lobsang, for what it’s worth, don’t leave. You seem to you have a sense of humor about this, and anybody that can laugh about his momentary feelings of weakness is a value to the board. Why is it disgustingly morbid? Are all jokes, or even “jokes” that talk about a deceased celebrity “disgustingly morbid”?
