I also think the OP was being uncool. Glad Lobsang took it in stride. We all need a bit of affirmation every so often. I have seen a number of those types of threads in MPIMS before, it seemed like Euty used to post these once a year or so. But nobody ever ragged on him for starting a pity party, because he’s a good guy and was feeling down in the dumps and you don’t kick somebody when they’re down. The only real difference between Euty’s and Lobsang’s threads is that Lobsang used his participation in SDMB as a hook.
“I’m thinking of leaving” threads often have genuine feeling behind them and therefore should be treated with respect. If you don’t like participating in affirmation threads that’s fine, but as my Grandmother used to say, “If you can’t say anything nice, just shut up.”
Yeah I can see where you’re coming from. For me, his unique posting style was more entertaining then annoying, but I could see it bothering people.
