Goodnight, moon. Goodnight, Boo.
Awww. Love it.
Sorry to shift gears, but GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD morning!
Got an answer and the glassing in of the patio is starting May 10th. And everything will be done by the 19th, with no work on the 13th (holiday), 14th (bridge between the holiday and weekend) and the weekend. So 5 days of people on site, plus we’ll have the gardener as well, but on the side. So maybe I should have him start later?
Shouldn’t be a problem, and I know he has scheduling problems, as do all the gardeners. Everybody’s home and wants to spiff up the place, because we have another 6 months of home office (full until end of June, at least, maybe longer).
Got more rain last night, which is really nice. We’re getting more over the weekend, which is not so nice for getting out and about, but good for the garden and my Seattleite soul.
Have a good Thursday!
Up, caffeinated, and shevveled. Off to sort.
It was an Yuge improvement.
Good night! and Good Morning, by the time you read this.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is mowage as da yahd is lookin’ shabby. Must take care of that before we become the worst in the 'hood! Other than that, who knows. Grilled chikin sallit and cheesey garlic bread for sup. Oh, and I need to pick up a 'script at some point.
Happy Birthday Nelson! ::Skritches:: from Unca swampy.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Poor FCD didn’t sleep all night. Personally, I think part of the problem is all the Diet Coke he drinks. He claims caffeine doesn’t affect him. Yeah. Right. He took an Oxy a bit ago and he’s out for now. Once the Roxnado gets here, I’ll need to keep her quiet-ish.
Semi-politics related rant: somehow, my best email address is being flooded with ultra right-wing BS messages. No clue why. Even if I were inclined to give my email to a political site, I’d use one of my lesser addresses, rather than the one I use for banking and bills and legit correspondence. And I find it interesting that these whacko emails love ALL CAPS in BOLD and RED (I miss colored text, dammit!)
Yeah, yeah, first world problems.
I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer, and I think I can get another done and hung out before Roxy gets here. After she goes home, I need to ride John Deere around the back yard again. Whatever fertilizer I used has kicked into high gear! And, unfortunately, lots of what’s out there are weeds. But they’re green, so they’ll be kept short and that will work. I’m not obsessed with a perfect carpet of grass - as long as it’s all covered, I’m good.
Which reminds me, I need to get another bag of seed - when I flung it all a few weeks ago, I missed some areas, and they’re really obvious now. So I’ll get the bare-patch type of seed to fill in. Maybe I can take Roxy today to get some - it’ll get her out of the house.
And FCD just came out. I suggested he avoid caffeine - we’ll see how that works out.
OK, onward. Happy Thursday!!
My husband drinks way too much diet coke, too, FCM. He also wonders why he can’t sleep. Every time I point out he’s drinking too much Coke, he murmurs maybe so but goes right back to doing it. I would insert a roll-eye here, but emoticons don’t work for me no matter what I do.
Busy, busy, busy, busy, at work and I’m exhausted. At least I didn’t have to go to the office yesterday. Between meetings and training, emails and fires I can never get to my actual “to-do” list. I am full up with meetings today, so I imagine not a whole lot will get done.
I received my official tentative offer letter and filled out the required forms. I then had to have a talk with HR and they had to amend my offer letter because they came in at the wrong step for the grade I’m being promoted to. I received a within-grade increase effective this last Sunday which means they had to bump me up a step in the grade I’m being promoted to. It will result in a nice monthly bump to the pay, but I am going to increase my retirement contribution. I want to pay me first and then Uncle Sam.
This week is my long week, which means I have to work on Friday, but at least that will be a short day; eight hours versus nine. However, I think I’ll be working late so I can catch stuff up. We shall see how things go.
My daughter, son-in-law and grandkids returned home from Missouri last night. They almost didn’t make it because just as they were about to take off on the plan a thunder storm rolled in and they were told they might not get to take off. Imagine wrangling a toddler and slightly feverish due to teething baby and being told your flight is delayed. Add in that all their gear including the car seats were checked in. Thankfully, the worst scenario did not play out. They got home and were exhausted but it was a good trip. They got to work on the farm, saw their friends, saw SiL’s mother and stepmother. They stayed with the stepmother because she’s living on the farm. Technically, the farm belongs to the kids, but she gets to live on it until she is no longer with us or opts to move.
Well, I hope you all have a good Thursday. I’m going to do my best to make sure mine is good. My husband drinks way too much diet coke, too, FCM. He also wonders why he can’t sleep. A post so nice, ya said it all twice!
The bigliest!
Morning all. Woke up about 3am with an ache in my upper arm/shoulder that I had been sleeping on, think I got twisted around some, it went away after I got up, drank a glass of ice water since it was 76F indoors (haven’t turned the AC on yet) and ran the last 5 minutes of the Dishwasher cycle (wondered why all the lights were still on). Went back to bed and slept on and off until 8:20am. Nappage is probable later.
45% of rain and storms this evening, I agreed to referee a soccer game at 6pm, we’ll see if that’s happening. Need to take the garbage out (this is Thorsday, isn;t it?) and may do a couple of other things.
Didn’t listen to the President’s speech, but was fairly confident I wasn’t missing something outrageous.
Taters , glad your visitors made it home safe. And I drink too much Pepsi but my bodies must be acclimated since I seem to sleep well. And congrats on the step-bump–I got a couple of them in my government career and it’s a nice little bonus.

FCM, hope FCD gets some rest. And so far my e-mail hasn’t been invaded by anything but Amazon and a few companies I’ve done business with. Can you automaitically tell them to stop sending stuff, like you can for some businesses?
Dicey, hope it all works out with the patio and gardener.
OK, pills taken so now wait an hour before breaking fast. All y’all take care now.
I tried my husband’s weighted blanket last night, and the results were…interesting. It’s relaxing; however, when I wake up in the morning, I’m not expecting any weight on my body whatsoever, so pushing the darn thing off me then trying to get out of bed after makes me stagger around like I’m drunk. Which would be fun if I were actually tipsy and wide awake, but is less fun when I bang my shins on things on my way to coffee. I’m not a terrible insomniac (famous last words), so I can sleep without it. Or lend it to one of the kids. Even though my mom gave it to my husband, he has never used it.
Today is proving to be grey and generally icky, but hopefully it’ll improve. Coffee has been had, shins have been banged and work is still ridiculous. Time for toast slathered in butter.
Only 8am and I’ve already gotten a buttload of gardening done. Have to get it done early because today and tomorrow are supposed to push 90 degrees. Watered, topped off the planters that have settled, established the lettuce bed (seed tape goes in Saturday) and generally futzed around for an hour. Healthy way to start the day. 3 classes to teach this morning, then office hours all afternoon.
I must say, it was so very nice to have a beer out with friends while the President is giving an address before Congress and not be filled with existential dread the entire time. Who knew??
Stay safe and sane, Mumpers. Happy Thorsday!
My philosophy exactly.
Mrs Magill was supposed to start round two of chemo yesterday, but her numbers were WAY off, so they gave her two units of blood instead. At least she’s not getting winded by walking upstairs anymore. Her hematologist has referred her to a leukemia/lymphoma specialist in his practice. I don’t consider it a good sign when your doctor punts to someone else.
Personally, I’m afraid her last round of chemo may have killed her. The inside of my head is not a good place to be right now.
I think I’ll watch some videos of baby bunnies ripping around.
Isn’t it lovely that this is the case?
Hear, hear

Supermarkets are funny places. I stopped at Meijer for a Mother’s Day card, and left with that + two pairs of jeans.
One of which doesn’t fit well, so Tomorrow Me has an additional errand to return it. (The other is pretty O.K.)
Thanks for the inspiration. I just fired up my toaster!
You’re quite welcome! I don’t think there’s anything quite like bread/toast and butter. I could eat it for days.
Home from work. I got the one work station in small without a fan. That bites. I stopped at Aldi on the way home, and bought 21lbs. of meats. < grunts in carnivore >

Happy Birthday Nelson!
Congrats, Taters!
Unfortunately, there’s no unsubscribe option, but then I didn’t subscribe. I just replied and told them, IN CAPS to remove me from their list. I also told them what I thought of Prez#45.
Since I’ve been baking bread of late, it takes all kinds of willpower not to snarf down a whole loaf with butter when it comes out of the oven. Is it any wonder my weight has wavered around a plateau for some time now - because sometimes I am weak. < shame >
Roxy and I had a fun time at a local playground, apart from when she had an epic poop that went up her back! You’d think she’d notice! That’s the barrier to potty-training - she doesn’t care if she’s wet or poopy. Apart from that, she had a chance to play with another 3-y/o and they had some fun till his aunt took him home. I was a meanie and made Roxy leave shortly thereafter.
I changed her nasty clothes, gave her lunch, and she’s now down for a short nap. So I get an hour of peace. Once my daughter picks her up, I need to mow - we’re promised rain tonight. I should probably bring the laundry in before mowing - don’t need to be blowing grass bits on the clean clothes.
How am I ever going to manage 2 kids???
Now that both kids are coming–and daughter and SIL will stay the night, I’ve got to get cracking on meal plans. Mangia, mangia! I think son will be here for lunch that Saturday and will leave before dinner. Daughter and SIL will arrive around dinner time and stay until after lunch on Sunday. I don’t want to give one a better meal than the other is having.–not that there’s any sibling rivalry. (They’re 9 years apart, so there never has been.) I just can’t do it on principle.
I’ve been getting spam texts all of a sudden–pornographic spam texts, judging by the few words that show. (I don’t click on them.) There’s no spam block feature on my phone; I’d have to block each number individually, which wouldn’t work because they’re all from different numbers. I finally caved and got a well-known spam blocker–$40 a year, but worth it, I guess. A pox upon all spammers! And an “I hear ya” high five to FCM.
{{{{Magill and Mrs.}}}} I hope it’s OK that I ask this: Why didn’t the hematologist refer her to the leukemia specialist in the first place? It seems like the doc who specializes in leukemia would be the best one to treat a leukemia patient. In that sense, the referral might be a Very Good Thing. Holding you both in my thoughts.
Taters, glad they had a good trip and got home OK. And a big YAY on the pay bump!
wordy, are weighted blankets hot? I can’t imagine how they wouldn’t be.
A little bit, though we tend to keep the house very cold when we sleep so I’m okay with it. That said, I think I’ll just chuck on an extra blanket tonight instead of a weighted blanket. It was too much trouble to try to stagger down the hallway after sleeping under it.
