My best friend is currently on patrol with the US Coast Guard. When home, he is an avid firefighter and runs for two different companies. While on patrol, he has no access to current TV shows, so I try to tape anything he might be interested in. The Third Watch special episode on tonight is all stories from figherfighters, police officers, family members of lost firefighters and police officers, etc. that were involved in the tragedy of September 11.

I meant to tape the show, but due to a mini crisis at home, I forgot all about it. If anyone has taped the episode and would be willing to send me a copy, I would be greatly appreciative. I would be more than willing to mail you a check to cover any expenses (cost of tape and shipping) and then some.

This would mean so much to myself and my friend. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps you could get in touch with NBC to see if arrangements could be made for them to send you a copy. This episode definitely should be nominated for an Emmy, and those people should definitely receive the highest honours.

Several months ago, I opened a thread in Great Debates on the very notion of hero, in which I commented that the term, in my opinion, was used more and more loosely, indiscriminately. Well, I don’t have any problem with those firefighters and policemen and their fallen brethren being called heroes.

They truly are, in every sense of the word.
