This day in History - MMP

For those of us playing along at home.

I don’t get the question. This happens all the time. People can’t afford treatments that may (and only may) save their loved one’s lives.

Wouldn’t we need more info.? If husband knew he was going to get caught and spend the rest of the time that wife was bought by this drug in prison, is that a plus? If husband was caught and went to prison and wife died anyway since the drug didn’t work, what would be the point? If husband knew he wouldn’t get caught and wife would get cured, that’s a whole other set of variables. But there’s not enough info. to determine that.

OK** Haze**, so what’s the answer? :dubious:
ETA: Bonus! First on 5! Without even trying! Am I good or what?!

Clearly the druggist is a schmuck. He’ll still make tons of money by scalping this drug to others, surely he can give Heinz a break on the price. Were I Heinz, I’d get a lawyer and sue the druggist for the medicine

I am beginning to emerge out from under the New England great depression.

Monday was denial. Tuesday I stayed in bed and loafed. It’s now Wednesday and I’m beginning to think about taking a weekend trip up to Vermont. Possibly break in that set of ski’s I never used last winter.

::Sulks::

I am the druggist: I can recover the cost of my research and yes am entitled to a profit.

I am the husband: I’ve supported the druggist through some hard times and he owes me and the wife something in return for that loyalty.

Depends whether I’m a blue state or a red state…

Haze - soon as I know what we in the far SW burbs are doing, I’ll post something…

Yeah, now I have about 3 hours to sleep.

Night

Wasn’t this Heinz dilemma the premise of that “John Q” movie that Denzel Washington starred in? I dunno - my head is so full of evil snot right now that I probably wouldn’t recognise my own mother!

Very addicting! But I’ve managed to ween myself off of it for the most part. I’m on Windrunner, Alliance side, mostly. I have a few characters on other servers that I play when I want to get away from guild drama, though. The expansion bummed me out because I never got to finish endgame at 60. Now I’m figuring I won’t finish BC endgame at 70, so I don’t know whether I’ll buy the next xpac. They are coming to quickly, IMHO, and I’m becoming a bit disenchanted about the whole thing, which spoils the fun. I’m much more of a raider than PvPer. I’m definitely a carebear.

My main is a shadowpriest, but I have since leveled a warlock and resto shammy. I’m really enjoying the shammy. OTOH, I am the Worst. Mage. Ever. and can’t seem to level a mage past the 30s. :o

Hi everybody. Morning.

Drive by!!! Appropriate and Inappropriate emotions and hugs for all!

**Soapy **-- your parents lived in Israel from '48 until '51? Holocaust survivors that ended up in Cyprus for a while?

My dad fought in the War of Independence, too. Which means we’re probably not *too *far from each other in age (I’m 44.)

Hi all. The stories will have to wait, my cold has turned ugly, and so I am going to chug some NyQuil and go back to bed.

Good morning. I hope you sickies don’t get offended if I step back and don a mask before greeting you. Get better. Drink fluids. Rest. Keep yer germs to yerselfs!!! MWAH!

Today is jury duty day, and according to the forecasts, it’s gonna hit mid 70s in my county! It’s already warmer outside than in here, so I’ve opened what windows I can as long as I can. T-storms are forecast for the afternoon and evening, and by the weekend, our highs will plummet to the low 30s. I just love this screwy weather! I should probably take advantage of the warm and bring some more firewood up to the garage so we can have a toasty weekend.

We still haven’t settled on a cat name. **FCD ** suggested Leo, since he is descended from the Asian Leopard Cat. I suggested Chuck, just because. We really need a name by tomorrow when we take him to the vet. From the way he acts, we need to call him Snuggles or AttentionWhore (AW??) or maybe Pavlov, since he comes a running when we shake the little can o’kitteh snacks. That would tie back in with the Dog thing. I dunno.

If you read to the bottom of the page I linked - the part about the F numbers - then this will make more sense. When we visited the rescue lady on Saturday, one of the cats she had in isolation was a F3 male. He was huge, and he definitely had a wild look about him. If we’d brought him home (no he’s not for adopting) he’d have eaten Scruffy for an appetizer! I have no doubt about that.

Time to forage for breakfast. Or something.

Morning all…while it is still morning! Busy day over here again, for some reason TK can’t find a single job that’s not urgent. Perhaps I should suggest she tries one of the courses they run for time management and prioritisation?

The only thing that’s getting me through today is the thought of beerverages tonight with a couple of friends!

Hugs to the sickies, hope you feel better soon. Appropriate and inappropriate responses to the rest of you!

Name him Poops!

I’m thinking, um, no. Thanks for playing, beebs! :stuck_out_tongue:

FCM, I still kinda like Dog as a name, but Leo is cool. This weather is insane! It’s mid-60s right now, and will probably hit 70 here as well. Then it is all back down to more normal winter temps by this weekend! It will be a wonder if folks don’t have pneumonia. And the trees - some of them are already starting to bud!! Ah well, what can you do except to go with the flow, I guess. LOL

Up and caffeinating … time to leave for work shortly. Happy Hump day, Mumpers - two more days til Firday!

Cribbing from **flodnak **in this post – how about Schroedinger?

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. I had a case of the sump’ns last night. It might be teh sick cause I feel a little ick, as in all fuzzy haided and stuffed up. Last night my temp was up a whole 1.5 degrees Amurrkin. I took knock out stuff and slept for almost eleven hours. Then again, it coulda been eatin’ too many pancakes or cause the weather is changin’. It’s supposed to get stormy here by afternoon. Right now it’s warm, as in, I’m sittin’ here wearin’ shorts warm. So, who knows… weather, teh sick, pancakes… like I said a case of the sumpn’s.

Puggy water buffaloes (buffalos?) are highly prized as farm animals in Africa. They can be used for plowing and milking as I understand it. Anywho, I think it’s a way jake project for the kids. Oh and they got ten bucks a piece outta ol’ y’all know who and me last night. I’m sure we’re not the only ones. Heck, it’s for a worthy cause and the kids were so cute in their little aprons servin’ pancakes, sausages, coffee and oj last night. I say kids, but they range in age from around ten to about seventeen.

Today is Ash Wednesday. I shalt go get ashed at the noon service. I cannot believe it’s Lent already. Easter is waaaaaaaaay early this year. As early as it can ever be, even. Instead of a “give up” this year, I am embarking on doing both Morning and Evening Prayer this year. I figure I need a little extra spiritual time.

Ok, off to caffienate, forage brekkies and purtify for work.

Later Y’all!

That won’t happen for the same reason we didn’t name our Dalmatian Rorschach - no good nickname, and too much of a pain to explain. As it was, we called the spotted dog Pixel, and we still had to explain it far too often.

Okay, I’ll settle for Poops as a nickname.

Yeah, you nailed it except they lived in Cholon (sp?). At the time it was one big sand dune. When I saw it (in 1980) in was a real town! They were survivors that turned around and risked everything to fight. Age, well let’s say my dad wanted to go back for the 6 days war but I was about to be born…

Was your dad a sabra or did he come after WWII?

I’d normally spell it Holon (Holon if I get all cutesy with the coding :)), but I know exactly what you meant. Yes, it has definitely grown a little bit since then… and it has probably doubled again in the last almost-30 years.

I was thinking that if your parents arrived in '48 (rather than '46-'47) perhaps they were “guests” of the British in the Cyprus camps where “illegal” immigrants from post-war Europe, who were caught, got sent?

As for your age – geroffmylawn, whippersnapper!

The first 2 times I read this, I saw Pops, which is reasonable name as far as guy logic goes.

ETA: My fraternity had a cat named Dog, FWIW. I’d stick with that.
