Of course I’m desperate, Nooner, I have to put up with Tin Knickers and her lunacy. Today she’s come up with four meetings all of which she wants to take place next week…except she’s involving the Deans and one of the PVCs who are the people with the busiest diaries on earth. Getting half an hour of their time in the next seven days is pretty much impossible. But I can do miracles, right?
Of course, that’s on top of the other urgent jobs I’ve got on my desk, plus the student registrations I need to do for Coughing Colleague 'cos she hasn’t got time to do them, and the urgent project work I’m supposed to find time for, and, and, and…at some point I might even find time to breathe.
Yeesh… after seeing some managers in action, I firmly believe that those who call on their underlings to arrange meetings are 98% jerks who want the impossible (and therefore won’t attempt it themselves :rolleyes: ) and 2% true Ludites and technophobes who honestly still think “outlook” is a synonym for “point of view,” or “prognosis.”
Duh… if you can arrange for a miracle, you can do more than one for the same money, right…?

She falls quite firmly into the 2% Luddite category. We all use Outlook diaries and I have access to quite a few of the ones I need, but will TK maintain an electronic diary? Will she heckaslike. She “prefers her paper diary” and only tells me her expected whereabouts for the current week so whenever I have meetings to arrange, I have to start by asking her. She truly is a headcase. Mad as cheese, that one.

Well I was a true to form Satanist yesterday by having chocolate and sausage and chips on Ash Wednesday. Honestly, as if you Christians didn’t give up enough fun in your lives you have to spend a whole month making it even worse on yourselves! Not something I understand I must say.
Today is Friday for me as I’m off on hols from tomorrow for a week, woo hoo! The downside of course is that I will have to stay as late as it takes to complete all my tasks before I go, so could very well be in the office until 6pm (not so good).
New game came in the post for my Wii, Trauma Centre: Second Opinion. Conducting surgery was never so much fun.
Next time, block in three time-slots with all the other participants (if three even exist!) then tell her “I can do it either <time 1> or <time 2> [or <time 3>, if applicable]; choose one. if none of these are good for you, it’ll be next month.”
Rinse, lather, repeat until she breaks down and and the very least lets you control her paper diary!

BooFae, it took me a bit of time to realize that diaries meant calendars. There are some Luddites in my office as well who don’t use their email program calendars. They quickly find out that they’ll not get included in meetings, though. Oh well!
Mawnin’. Got a meeting with my director about Step One in Thesis Process this afternoon. Haven’t had a chance to really go over my paper with a fine-tooth comb, won’t before the meeting. I know what I want to change anyway.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Teh sick turns out to be a really bad sinus infection. I went in to work yesterday but left after an hour, came home and took knock out stuff. I slept. A lot. I did manage the seven o’clock Ash Wednesday service. Then I came back home, took knock out stuff and slept. I’m feelin’ a lot better. YAY!

The new wheels did fine for the morning commute. I have to make the trip back home before I decide the mileage is better or worse than the NerdMobile. It’s a smaller car, so my money’s on better. The truck is definitely worse, but it did fine on it’s first run to the dump.
