This day in History - MMP

{{{Haze Just looks like ya need one is all.

BBBobbio all I can say is sic 'em!!!

Everybody else, boo, yay, hug, congrats, that sucks as needed.

Today was…weird. All kinds of little problems to worry people about. None of ‘em real bad but enough that people got all  at me cause, well, sometimes, it’s the nitpicky things that can get people in trouble in the inshurnce bidness. Lots of little technical points and legalities that I just hate to bring up (really, I do) but that’s the QA end of things. Still, better me than the folks in underwriting who get their shorts in a wad over everything (it’s their job). Really, anything I can catch before it gets to underwriting is a good thing. Even then, some things that are ok from the QA standpoint are probably not ok from the underwriting standpoint. Even so, I got told by several people that they did appreciate my catchin’ stuff that was easily correctable. So, all in all, not too bad.

In other news… I took some frozen hamburger patties outta the freezer last night and when I got home, I grilled burgers. We had bacon cheeseburgers for supper tonight. YUUUUUUUMMMMMMM!!! Did I mention it was seventy-three degrees Amurrkin at 5:30 tonight when I grilled burgers? Oh and right now at just after eight o’clock EST Amurrkin, it’s 70 degrees Amurrkin outside and we’re wearin’ shorts. Show of hands all youse who hate me and ol’ y’all know who.

No hands up? Well, then again, how could y’all hate a couple as cute as us, right?

I have to work tomorrow mornin’.

Oh, and…
Ogbilagtroy dukern ptos… I lvoe yuo gysu.

Nyghti Neti Y’lla!

Wow, seems like some folks have not had a good day, AT ALL. Hugs to you all.

This morning, I was getting ready for work when my daughter brought the phone to me. It was my husband, hoo boy was he PISSED! It seems his debit card was not working. It kept coming back as “unauthorized use”. I had last used my card on Wednesday and didn’t have any issues with it, but all the same I checked my bank balance and available money and all that seemed to be okay.

My damn gas tank was on empty and I was all paranoid about not being able to use my card, so I borrowed some money from my daughter. As it turns out, my card was fine and I was able to use it.

Once I got to work and ran my morning reports, I called the bank. It seems MasterCard had sent an e-mail to our bank concerning my husband’s card. His and 1,499 other card numbers had been “compromised”, so they basically cancelled them. This e-mail was sent on the 5th. We did not receive ANY notification at all. So, the hubby had to stop by the bank after work and get a new card. Unfortunately, he won’t receive it until sometime next week.

So, while I can appreciate the bank/MasterCard stopping activity on the card because of it potentially being compromised, I really do not appreciate the lack of notification. It is highly embarrassing to try and pay for something and not have the purchase go through. It’s not like it’s a rarely used credit card, it’s freakin’ debit card for Pete’s sake!

You know, it’s funny. Nearly five years ago, when we bought this house, we went out and bought a brand new side by side refrigerator from Sears. We used the same damn card. We weren’t home five minutes when the bank called asking us if we had actually made that purchase. Kind of a lack continuity in procedure, isn’t there?

Work was sort of “meh”, but I made it through the day. I’m glad it’s Friday.

Smooches to all, and for those of you that had a really rough day, extra big HUGS.

Just another drive by, we are under a blizzard warning for tonight and tomorrow. The good thing is that it has warmed up, The bad thing is that usually means a serious dumping of snow. My cold/flu/crud is moving on out, so perhaps I will be back later. All the usual hugs, oohs, ahhhs, etc. as appropriate.

Hello, all. Meh day at work; am in bed now and getting comfy.

I have to work tomorrow at the library (note to self: don’t skip days; it’s hell to make them up).

Sorry you’re all having a bad day. One day at a time…

Valentines addressed. I’ll put stuff together in the morning and then send send send. (I have several things to send - I’m sure it’ll be fun.)

But I’m sleepy now.

Sweet dreams, everyone! (That’s an order!!)

GT

Sweet dreams would be nice! Lately I’ve been dreaming about work. Doing work while sleeping does not make you very anxious to do actual work when it’s for real…

Glad to hear Mommyhood agrees with you, LiLi!

Poor, Haze. It’s got to get better! We’re here when you need us.

Glad you’re better, Kai! We’ve missed you!

Anybody I’ve missed, hugs and skritches… I’m off to bed VERY soon…

Good night! I slept most of the day and the kiddies were home sick too. bleh, but am feeling better! I’m on for the MMP this week- yes!

Thanks for the hugs everyone! I wish I could invite y’all to my Lunar New Year party tomorrow. Ah well. I’ll post pics.

rosie, I forgot to mention, your kitty video is cute! I like the remix as well.

Taters, that sucks about the credit card - I had a similar experience once with Visa.

Ah, Mr Inappropriate has just called to ask if he can come over. He must’ve broken the bad news to Ice Queen. Living with someone always makes break-ups so much more complicated. Good thing Cloud Maiden’s not here - means we have an extra mattress.

A true friend is someone you can call up in the middle of the night after you’ve broken up with your long-term girlfriend so you can crash on their metaphorical couch.

Today marked the first time I’ve had my bike out this year. Some friends and moi went on a 150 mile run marked by a great burger in Yerington, NV.

Morning all! Had my sleep-in this morning and am feeling much better for it.

{{{Haze}}}

LiLi, colic is like really, really bad wind/gas pains for baby. HRH suffered from it during the first 6 weeks, mainly at night when she wasn’t moving so much to help the gas pass through. She would wake up, feed, then cry and grizzle for another 1.5 hours before finally going back to sleep for 45 minutes, then wake up for her next feed. It was thoroughly exhausting!

ETA: first on 10! w00t!!!

Does that mean she’s always mad?

I like rigs new hair, too.

I’m not giving up the interweb for Lent, just will BEE-have and not come Dope while at work, which usually is the place where I Dope most. You see, the option of not eating meat on fridays would mean “not eating on fridays”, which doesn’t sound like it would combine well with “driving three hours on the highway going back home”. Safety first!

The hotel I got this week had intahweb access (included in the price, which is something not every Spanish hotel does and when they don’t, they charge you for one day like Telefónica for one month), but it required a cable and I hadn’t brought one, was so tired that going down to the front desk to see if they had a loaner seemed an enormous effort.

As expected, the person I’m replacing can’t document for shit. She’s got all the documents created and full of letters, but all of them have the same letters… she just changed the title and a couple of headers. I’ve learned more about the designs I’m supposed to implement from reading other people’s documents than from the ones I inherit. She was supposed to leave yesterday, will be leaving next Firday and I can’t wait until she does. Oh, and again as expected her design is more complicated than mine would have been. Either she never heard of KISS or, more likely, she thinks that using the standard will give her an electric shock (lots of consultants in this field suffer from standaphobia). She’s been refusing to introduce me to people because “that’s the boss’ job” but when I pointed out I hadn’t met the boss claimed she didn’t know (ok, cutiepie, if he wasn’t in yesterday and you haven’t introduced me to him today, let’s see… logic isn’t your forte, innit?)
swampie, kudos on you for doing a good job. Not everybody can do QA, but a good QA can save tons of stoopit work and nasty headaches. I ought’a know, I’m QA.

**Spaz **-- if you’re offering free hugs, I’ll take two

**Haze **-- I think it’s a Good Thing that Mr. Inappropriate managed to go ahead and say what had to be said?
Also – check you PM’s

**Rosie **-- your video will have to wait until I get to a computer with earphones – which will happen on Sunday, at work.

ETA: **Nava **-- good luck on the new job. Sounds like you’ll need it  You will compensate for being good at work by posting a lot from home, won’t you? (and hopefully being “bad” when you post, too! :D)

Have a great weekend, everybody!

The blizzard has arrived, with much wind and blowing snow. I am headed for the bed with all my toasty blankies! Talk to you tomorrow over cocoa!

For some reason whenever you tell us about all the storms and flood and other harsh weather related stuff it always makes me want to move to Alaska. Why am I weird?

In other news, I had the most wonderful dinner tonight. I know no one clammored with excitement yesterday when I told them about sushi, but I shall return anyways to once again praise the food-to-go at Whole Foods Market.

I had a hot dish tonight, think buffet, but not like those cheesey Chinese food ones. This was some real nicely prepared dishes, evenly portioned, and steam heated rather than using some toasting lights. I had a mix of some orange chicken, southern styled pork ribs, and the most delicious tasting beef. Mix in some greens (brocolli), and add some lo mein to create a nice accent which mixed all the meats well, and you have my dinner. It was all prepared in a neat looking cardboard take out box, which look like it would leak, but was lined in the inside with some Saran-like film.

I was weary of the $7.99 per lb. price, but a really nice and filling dinner came to only $6.18. I was even checked out by a cashier in training! Wait, did I say that right? Hmmm, you’ll know what I mean.

Anyways, it seems I must have gotten side tracked at work, I began this post at around 2:14 AM and wondered if it was too late to talk about my delicious dinner. I wonder if 6:07 AM is far too late?!

Hmm, It appears that I have been caught in my own lie.

What a tangled web we weave here in the MMP.

PS: I believe I am going to Vermont this weekend, if you don’t see me again evevryone have a good weekend, K?

When I was in college, I got a call from a guy who was having problems with his wife (and I used to babysit for them) so I let him crash on my literal couch. It was just for one night, and he went home the next day. But somewhere in the back of my mind, I think they eventually divorced, but I can’t be sure - this was 30 years ago…

Good morning! sorta… Crappy night last night - **FCD ** was having a tough time sleeping, and he kept turning the TV on. I truly don’t mind that - I often fall asleep to the TV, but we also wake to it, so when I hear it come on, reflexes kick in. And it happened twice last night.

Then Mr. Kitteh came and went a few times, walking over my legs till he finally settled down to snooze - with his butt on my pillow and his body across my left arm. At one point, I had a paw in my face - he is such the attention whore! I’m thinking we need to call him Tornado. He moves fast, unexpectedly, and leaves destruction in his wake. At least he’s now relaxed and comfortable wandering the house. He’s even gone nose-to-nose with Scruffy. All is good in critterville.

So, obviously, I’m up, and less obviously, I’m caffeinating. Since I bought new clay tools last week, I’m thinking I may have some studio time today between loads of laundry. I’ve still got the 4 pieces I threw months ago, and I wet them down again, so I should be able to carve them without destroying them. Worst case, they get crumbled and tossed into a bucket of water, and I recover the clay. Best case, I discover I’m pretty good sculpting. I need to remember to open the heat vent as soon as I go down there. The basement is a bit chill.

I also need to remember to check the state income tax website to find the status of our return. I expected my refund already. Where’s my $$$, dammit!!!

Happy Saturday!

Have fun in Vermont Beebs. Nava ain’t QA fun!

Up and caffienatin’ here. In a bit Ima go purtify. I’m goin’ to work for a couple of hours later this mornin’ but before I do that, I need to go get the propane tanks filled for the grill. Thus, I need to take the tanks to the propane place, get ‘em filled and bring ‘em back home before goin’ in to work cause one should not ride around all day with full or empty for that matter propane tanks in one’s vehicle. I’m sure BBBobbio will be along at some point to attest to that. Oh and I get to listen to several recordings this mornin’ to make sure everything’s ok with 'em. Envy me.

Later Y’all!

Up and off to work.
