Hi, all. Man, take one day off from the MMP and there’s so much to catch up on!
Hi, Nat! What a big boy you are! Remember, sleeping at night is the most important thing a baby can do!
Thoughts and prayers headed out for your dad, herbs. I hope things look up for him soon.
I’m glad your shoulder is feeling better, CutiePie.
Speaking of sore shoulders, apparently one of our Idiots, Rusty, strained his shoulder a bit yesterday when Papa Tigs took them swimming. Of course, being Rusty, he proceeded to go into full-in hangdog, moping around and stumbling around like he was in utter agony. We knew he was hurting a bit when I sat down next to him and picked his head up a bit and he yelped in pain, but by this morning he had us nearly convinced he’d torn his shoulder completely apart or something. And then this morning, after we gave him an aspirin and finally coaxed him to eat a bit of breakfast, he heard Isaac barking out in the back yard – and he took off at a dead run, cleared the three steps down to the back yard without even touching them, and took off at a full gallop once he landed! Stoopit dog, had us convinced he was dying, and he just had a minor ouchy!
So we’re going to keep giving him aspiring for a few days – it works as well for dogs as for humans – and otherwise not believing him!
LiLi, Young Tiger had awful colic for several months. He always got it during the evening, and in his case it was more intestinal cramping than actual gas, it seemed – when it got really bad, at my doctor’s suggestion I gave him a little Tylenol and it seemed to stop it in its tracks. You might ask your doctor about that if Nat does turn out to be genuinely colicky; it really helped for us. It made everyone feel better – there’s nothing worse than your baby feeling bad and you feeling helpless to do anything about it!
I’m still struggling along with Snooty Old Lady. I honestly don’t think I have EVER had a job where I had to look up so many things online; it takes about five times as long to do as many jobs. But as I told the folks at the office when they asked whether I’d have it done on time, they can either have it on time and sloppy or a bit late and really, really accurate. This way, they’ll get a transcript that they won’t have to waste many hours cleaning up by looking up all those names of things. I honestly don’t know how I ever survived pre-Google!
I got myself the most useful knitting/reading toy ever yesterday – it’s a Beam 'n Read light that does a simply amazing job of lighting your work area, or your book if you’re reading. Best $30 I’ve spend in I don’t know how long! I was able to knit in the car in the pitch-dark last night without bothering Papa Tigs at all; I could see what I was doing perfectly, and the light shines down so well he barely even noticed it even though I was sitting right beside him. I highly recommend it! And it comes with three magnifying screens for when my eyes are feeling particularly old. Which is far too often these days.
Papa Tigs got a new CPAP yesterday. His old one was 10 years old. The new one is about 1/4 the size and is just astonishingly advanced – it senses his breathing and sleeping levels somehow and has a smart card that he’ll send in in a month so they can see if it’s working properly. What will they think of next? But he slept FAR better with it last night than he’s slept in a long, long time, so here’s hoping it works. Because when he sleeps better? I sleep better because he’s not waking me up all the time!
Back to work, alas. I’m determined to finish up Snooty Old Lady today!
