This day in History - MMP

If anyone is in MN, and loves BBQ, let me know and I’ll meet you at John Hardy’s BBQ in Rochester. It is the best BBQ I have ever had. First time I was in town my now husband took me there and I’ve been hooked ever since. The buildings aren’t much too look at, a bit run down, but the food is fabulous!! Mooom they even have your turkey, but I love the pork. Although their ribs are really yummy too. We have never had a bad meal there. Delish! Great, now I really want to go there again. sigh At least we are having BBQ ribs here tonight, they are almost done in fact.

I ate at Sonny’s BBQ when we were in S. Carolina- that was good! I really want BBQ now…

Hey, Taters, have you ever tried water aerobics and/or do they offer it at your Y? The last time that I lost tons of weight, that’s what I did. Heck, the first 30lbs that I lost were just from water aerobics alone. I didn’t even change my eating habits. If it wasn’t for damn depression, I might still be thin and svelte.

I have fantabulous BBQ available to me anytime I want it. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, down south, it’d be just a shame to not find some good BBQ restaurants.

However, I make some mean, kickass, downright nummy, bbq on my very own, thankyewverymuch.

Soapy, I have a Sonny’s about four miles from da cave. Their latest special is all one can eat smoked or bbq chicken. We’ve been piggin’ out more than we should there. Technically it’s smoked chicken but Sonny’s has there famous BBQ sauces one can squirt on the chicken, ranging from sweet to waaaaaaaaaay spicy. I like the smoked chicken all by itself cause it tastes sooooooooo good! However, their “hot” BBQ sauce is also wondermus. They will keep bringin’ you chicken til you puke if one so desires. No “to go” on it, however. Ya gotta eat it all there. Hey, for the price, it’s only fair.

There’s this local takeout bbq place that’s just a cinderblock building with some concrete picnic tables outside if’n you just have to eat there that’s indescribably nummy! Their thing is pulled pork. They have chicken and beef, but it’s the pork that they do bestest. MMMMMMMMMMMM…

Another local place always has all you can eat BBQ chicken, pork or beef with all the fixin’s. Total pig out place!

Also, a couple times a year at my church we do bbq boston butts. We smoke the <snerk> butts <snerk> and serve 'em with our own speshul seekret St. Patrick’s bbq sauce and our famous “St. Patrick’s Don’t Ask What’s In 'Em, Just Eat 'Em” baked beans, with N.O.T. salad or coleslaw that various folks make and bring. We always have extra <snerk> butts <snerk> that we sell for ten bucks a piece that always sell out.

One of the pluses of livin’ in the southern part of Amurrika, BBQ.

Oh, da cave is now all officially spiffed up. YAAAAAAy!!! CLEAN CAVE!!!

The first time I had barbecue, I got sick. For the longest time I couldn’t even see it without getting nauseous. Then I moved down to East Kakalak and went to a pig pickin’. I ate it, waited an hour, and declared it Good and Delicious. I won’t try the Tennessee version again if you paid me.

Speaking of dinner (well, dessert): Bwa-ha-ha!

My next thread may very well be started in the pit. Mattresses. Can’t say more or else I’ll start cursing.

Sonny’s BBQ is all over Flahduh, and I like it fine, and there’s also a chain called Bono’s, but my personal favoritest is Woody’s. There was one only a mile from our last house in Orange Park, and we went there a LOT! I miss that soooooooo much.

There’s a place in Fredericksburg, VA called Smoky Bones, and I got some good smoked turkey there, but it’s a long drive from home - well over an hour - so I have to really be in the mood or (like the last time we were there) really bored. I should just get a smoker and smoke my own. Ya think?

Ain’t nuttin’ better than a good ol’ fashioned pig pickin’! Well, except a good ol’ fashioned pig pickin’ with ice cold beer. No need to thank me. I live to enlighten.

No time to catch up–have been busy here all day. Worked at library after a birthday party for my father in law. I got a lot of homework done at the library, but it was COLD there. I ended up wearing 2 sweaters, one cashmere, the other wool and was still freezing. Came home, had a hot bath and am now finishing Devil in the White City.
For homework I have to read 3 romances and write reviews/annotations of them. Gosh, this school stuff sucks… Heh.
Stay warm, all. If you’re already warm, stay cool!

If it weren’t so cold I’d go out and get sushi for dinner. I think I’ll do some yoga and then have leftovers from yesterday.

:: reads over thread :: Great, now I want BBQ.

ooooh. I wrote the MMP- it’s sitting there waiting to be posted.

(lala, Killing time until midnight…).

Patio is scrubbed, patio furniture is shiny, car is clean and I just got out of the shower so I am clean.

Libby the crazy kitty helped me make the bed ie lay on it in the way

Gonna relax for the rest of the evening

You should. You really, really should. You’d become famous in southern Merrylande as the hostess with the mostess for your smoked turkey.

Seriously, as the owner of both an electric and a charcoal smoker, the advantages of smokin’ your own turkey, chicken, brisket and <snerk> butt <snerk> is unbelievable! I have been known to smoke whole chickens, briskets, turkey breasts and <snerk> butts <snerk> all at the same time whilst grillin’ hotdogs and/or hamburgers for lunch. See, yet another reason to build that great big deck with room for a hot tub and a grill and a big ol’ charcoal smoker. It’s all win-win!

No need to thank me. Really. I live to be helpful.

Hope the little guy makes it through the colicky stage quickly, LiLi. I’m sure you’ll figure out what works and what’s normal quickly.

One of your more challenging assignments, I see, rigs.

We have quite decent barbecue here, surprisingly. There are a couple of local chains that make very very good stuff. Everyone should come to visit and try it out.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a Skor. I’ll have to remedy that sometime soon. (I see you gloating, Spaz!

My dinner was Cinnamon Apple Rings (dried apple rings dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar) and almonds. (I had a Burrito Bol from Chipotle for lunch, so dinner wasn’t actually necessary.)

Heee, Nava. Sadly, Ms. It-Won’t-Work-That-Way-In-Production isn’t a consultant. Glad to hear it’s not an isolated phenomenon. Your predecessor at the current gig sounds like a project manager we had last year. She created all kinds of documents that one is supposed to have for a project, but they’re pretty much empty. I’m grateful that she was a consultant. Eventually, she was asked to leave.

Went to visit a friend who’s recovering from a hip replacement. She looks really well. She got one of the new-fangled hips that comes with almost no post-surgery restrictions. It looks like she’ll be at the rehab place less than a week. We spent about 2 1/2 hours chatting, then she got sleepy.

Now I’m getting sleepy myself. Guess I should call Mom and then think about what the week has in store for me.

Hugs to all. If I don’t stop by again tonight, I’ll see everyone in the next MMP.

GT

If you go back and edit it with a tale of smoked <snerk> butt <snerk> it’d be all the more memorable. Just bein’ helpful, is all…

And the beauty of it is that I set the assignment! Ha! Hey, the faculty advisor ok’ed it… <insert baffled look here>

LiLi–I don’t think he has colic. Colic usually starts at about 3 months. I know I lose track of time and all (WhyNot’s baby is now 3 years old, for just one example), but Gnat is not that ancient, yet. My money is on having no routine as of yet, your menu selections and his newborn digestive system. At about 12 weeks, you’ll either shift into second gear (it happens quietly) or all hell will break loose with colic. Sorry, but there it is… Buck up! He’s too cute and you are Keeper of the Cuteness. All hail, KotC!

wow - so chatty for a Sunday

dinner was very nice - Northern Italian - BIG portions (three lunches out of the leftovers) 0 Comedy Club was fun. MC and 3 “warm up” acts were funny and meh and vulgar all at the same time - but the headliner - a ventriloquist whose name I have now forgotten, was HIGH-LAR-EEE-US!!! And because the night was a fund raiser for friends’ synogogue, there were raffles. My friends won two tickets to a local performing arts center (they have their choice of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, A Few Good Men, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, and Bell Book & Candle. I recommended they pick BB&C. Then there was a grand prize drawing for a GPS system and guess who won that? Yup. Me! Wheeee! I gotta Garmin!!!
Now I am off to bed because I am tie-erd! See y’all next MMP

OK- fever, chills, hacking cough.

MMP will arrive tommorrow am, not at midnight.

smooches to all and good night.

Hope you feel better, Prof. Rapunzel.

WOW…I went without a computer all weekend, and now the MMP is three pages later and it’s a daunting task to catch up!!
