This day in History - MMP

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOG BUTLER!!!

Happy Sunday, all. Taters, you’re definitely on the right track with portion control and all, but probably the main thing is to just eat more regularly (as you already know, skipping meals is not good). I’m still working on portion control, although I have made some headway there.

Glad to hear that Nat is doing better today, LiLi. It’s hard not to be paranoid, though–it’s natural mother’s instinct, I believe. Gentle tummy rubbing and back rubbing can work wonders.

The wind has picked up quite a bit, although the temps haven’t dropped just yet. Tomorrow morning, the weatherman had a 15 up there for a morning low! Guess I’d better get the thick socks and scarf out.

And oh yeah, Haze, you look great in the Korean dress.

Well, I am off to get my hair done, then dinner, then a comedy club.
Why did I agree to go out on a Sunday night when I don’t have monday off?

I’ve been busy housecleaning, among other things. I had a metric buttload (technical measurement) of junk removed today, but I still have a lot more where that came from. However, I can see my living room floor! This is cause for celebration. I am very tired, but in a good way.

I’m going back to work full-time tomorrow. I’m a little nervous, but it will be nice to be able to get things done. Working part-time, it seemed like I’d just get on a roll and it was time to go already.

Happy Birthday, Doggio!

Now I’m off to catch up on the MMP.

Happy lickday, Doggio!

flowerpatchroamer, I ended up in consulting because when the company where I worked decided to implement SAP, I got sent in as “the Q-lab user” for my factory and, since we were told to complain about anything we didn’t like… complain we did, oh yes (the Production guy and me made sure, sure, sure that yes, they wanted us to complain). But, since that’s the way Pg and me are, we always proposed solutions along with the complaint. From the point of view of most consultants, we were The Customers From Hell - but as Pg said now and then “they asked for it!”

The person I’m replacing is pretty close to my own idea of The Consultant From Hell. She hasn’t set up the most basic things because “it’s too much work”; she makes enough noise about how detailed her work has been to bore a brick wall; documentation is amazingly bad even by consultant standards (by mine, a roll of TP would be more useful, at least you can wipe your butt with it). The team is now in user acceptance as well and she keeps having to tweak things to make them work, but “it won’t be like this in Production.” I wonder whether she’s been in Ohio lately?
Hi, Nat!
Haze, did we mention you’re pretty? Pity that pic is out of focus, because you were looking stunning! Get the good pics off your brother pronto.

I have a baaaad feeling that he’s doing better because I haven’t eaten much containing milk for the past 24 hours. Sigh. I am not giving up cheese. I will cut down, but I can’t give it up.
Mr. Lissar is learning to sew right now. He’s at my desk right now, making a linen tai chi jacket. Not exactly an easy beginner’s project. He’s doing very well. He hasn’t burst into tears or done vicious swearing even once.
Dotty, the sleeping bags are beautiful. I should really cut out a cotton one for Nat. The heat’s been turned up in our building, and the fleece ones are too hot. Thanks for the incentive. I just have to pick up a zipper.
Good on the housecleaning and junk removal, Shadow!

I am such a good cook! Lunch was teh yum! And I got leftovers for suppers/lunches for the both of us for three days. Poor ACBG. I obviously am not cookin’ durin’ the week like had been my habit due to the new strange work schedule, so we meet up for lunch or supper a couple times a week instead. Oh well, when I cook now, it’s all the more special. He can cook, mind you, just not as good as me.

I have also spiffed my bathroom, the guest bathroom, the kitchen and the laundry room. I shalt dust and vacuum my bedroom in a bit and maybe even tackle the living room and dust/mop it. Da cave is relatively clean but it never hurts to spiff up a bit. Laundry’s done too. YAY!!!

Plus, I “made” bread and butter pickles. I say “made” cause I did the ones where I take dill chips, drain ‘em, chop up garlic and put it in the bottom of the jar, then add a third cup of sugar, a layer of pickles, rinse and repeat, startin’ and endin’ with sugar. One then seals the jar, turns it upside down and lets it set for 24 hours, then turns it right side up for 24 hours, repeating turning the jar over and such for seven days. Makes nice sweet with a hint of garlic pickles out of dill chips. I know, I know, some of you think this is just ick, but them’s some good bread and butter pickles when all’s said and done. So get over it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, bedroom dustin’ and vaccuumin’ awaits.

Later Y’all!

For those of you who haven’t heard of the ambrosia that is Skor: Link They aren’t kidding when they say “decadent” either.

I’ve been a remarkably productive Cat today. It’s going to be one hell of a week coming up: I have to make some changes to my comps paper and email that to my thesis director along with my reading list, go to a conference on Saturday, and start my observations tomorrow. runs around in circles

So colic is just when a baby can’t pass gas? I always wondered about that.

Beautiful dress, Haze. You can certainly rock the red!

All y’all that are cooking need to come to my house and work your magic. I can’t wait until the big fridge is fixed. Then I can start terrorizing WOWCrack Roommate’s sons when they leave the door wide open and walk off.

I do have some work I should be doing so I get it out of the way before tomorrow, but it’s so much more relaxing to just goof off.

Washed & vacuumed my car, been to Office Depot and got my favourite pens and a new notebook for work swung by Home Depot and I think I have picked out the tile for my bathroom remodel and the vanity as well. When Mr ems-to-be finally moves here at the end of the month he is going to teach me how to tile.

I then went via the grocery store for a potato to bake for dinner - not sure what with yet but I will figure that out later.

Kitty litter box is changed and sanitised, I have bread thawing for a sammich for lunch then after I have talked to my parents I will wipe down the inside of my car, clean up the coffee spillage I had this week and do the inside of the windows. I then plan on hosing down my patio set and the patio as it is disgusting from the storms we had a few weeks ago.

Oh it is 65 degs and sunny here in California - I much prefer this version of winter to the four I spent in middle of nowhere Wyoming where it was warm if it was above 0 degs!

Forgot to add - pretty dress Haze

Colic, at least in my poor little one, was more like severe intestinal cramping, Spaz. Some babies get a lot of gas with it; Young Tiger certainly didn’t. It was more like his innards were just twisting. One theory I read was that it’s a sign of an immature digestive system. Whatever the cause, though, it makes the poor little tyke really, really miserable. You can usually tell it’s colic if it occurs the same time every day. In our case, it was 6:30 p.m. I mean, like clockwork, at 6:30 he would twist up and start crying in misery. It’s an awful feeling.

I’ve been a very good girl thus far today, but alas, I’m not quite done with this [del]drivel[/del] work. I’d really like to get it done; then I won’t have anything else to do until probably Tuesday, which is just fine with me – a day off when Papa Tigs isn’t home driving me crazy and interfering with my puttering! I might even get some decent housework done. Or not; I might just have a Jericho marathon, since the new season of it starts Tuesday evening.

So many papers to grade! Make them go awaaaaaay!

ETA: first again, ROFLCOPTERS

ETA2: Reading about all this productivity is exhausting!

Happy Birthday Doggie!

I have the laundry done, and the dishes in the dishwasher, but still have some vacumming to do yet. I colored my hair cause it really needed it, and I made crock-pot spaghetti for the first time. I think I’ll make spaghetti like this from now on. I poured in some jarred sauce with an equal amount of water, then heated it on high. Broke half of a box of spaghetti in half and added to the sauce. Browned some ground beef and added that plus a few basil leaves. About 30 minutes later, I stirred it and it was done! It’s yummy!

Ah, then it probably is colic, then, because it’s about nine-thirty or ten every night for a week so far. And he quiets down by twelve or one.

He’s still asleep. This is weird. Babies are weird.
Haze, the dress is lovely.
I’m making sort-of instant black beans and rice, with ground beef and tomatoes and peas added. I don’t think I’ve eaten any vegetables in several days. I’m trying to fix that. The baby sleeping all day is why I’m capable of even sort of instant cooking. It, plus all the frozen pizza, should hold us most of the week.

Hi folks. I spent today on the couch coughing up crud. Delightful.

The good news is now I want to visit St. Stevens New Brunswick for the chocolate festival. I’m a Food Channel junkie

I’m working on the MMP, though. Got it all in my mind…

It’s cooooold outside!!!

I’m such a good wife. I took FCD’s bill of materials, figured out exactly what he needed to order and what it would cost, put it all on a spreadsheet, and sent it back to him. That gave him a chance to mess with another design. Doing it on Excel was so easy.

We both had a hankerin’ for BBQ, so we had a late lunch/early supper at Famous Dave’s. Now I’ve got a hankerin’ for something sweet. I’ll probably be good and have an apple. I’d rather have a warm brownie a la mode. Stoopit apple.

We just got a Famous Dave’s around here- and I love BBQ. Is it really as good as I’ve heard?

I have finished all my errands. I ran and got the restaurant gift card I needed to get for my boss, purchased some new workout pants, a pair of new jeans for the hubby, and did the grocery shopping.

Here’s the deal, **Mr. Taters ** thought we weren’t eating very healthy food. As I looked up the low fat and weight watchers recipes, I discovered I have been cooking low fat all along. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t do all my cooking from scratch, I make the occasional Hamburger or Tuna Helper, or something with the Zatarains line of products, and the lasagne I make is absolutely decadent, but other than that, we really do eat pretty healthy food. However, I will make some of the “new” recipes that I found, just to make Mr. Taters happy.

It makes me feel good to know that I’ve been doing things with regards to cooking in a healthy way. That means all the stuff I learned when I went through a big weight loss stuck with me. The only issue I’m going to have is that there’s going to be lots of groaning about the brown rice. I like it, actually, but the family was pretty sick of it last time we went ALL LOW FAT ALL THE TIME.

Mr. Taters has gone to pick up a table for my mother. He’s being a good son-in-law, although he would have rather have stayed home and relaxed.

I must say, since I’ve committed to going to the Y with him, his disposition toward me has improved. He wasn’t really talking to me a lot before that, which obviously hurt my feelings. He usually goes to the Y with a friend and our nephew, but has decided we’ll take our vehicle down there too in case I want to leave sooner than they usually do. This is also in case I overdo it and make myself sick. I usually do that when I first pick up exercising again. I don’t do it on purpose. I don’t feel like I’ve overdone it, and then BAM! all of a sudden I’m sick and lightheaded.

There’s nothing exciting going on here in Taterland. In a couple of hours I’ll make one of the new recipes I ran across. I do plan on jazzing up the brown rice with just a little of dried apricot, celery and craisins. I’ll make some sort of boneless, skinless chickie breast recipe to accompany the rice, along with some steamed veggies. I was eyeing the asparagus at the grocery store, but it just didn’t look all that great, so I passed on it.

**Soapy ** - It’s pretty good. I’ve had the chicken, the beef brisket, and the ribs at various times - enjoyed them all. Plus they make really good corn muffins. Their green beans are kinda meh, but I really like their slaw. **FCD ** loves the baked beans. I think you’ll enjoy their menu.

The one thing I wish they had on their menu is smoked turkey. My favorite BBQ place in FL had the best smoked turkey. I’m going to have to get some when I visit my kid next month.

Thanks, guys! I was off today, so I went to Mass, then Wally World. I took Nelly to the dogpark, then came home and crashed for a couple of hours. It’s been so windy here, I ran a red light, because the lights were being blown parallel to the pavement.

:waves at Gnat:

Glad you can see your floor, shadow!

Great pic, Haze. I’ve never had kimichee.

Taters, I eat brown rice all the time. See how healthy I am?
